The Final Cut actually is out takes from The Wall. There's a bit where the lyrics are supposed to read "I'll show you whats behind the Wall." but it's covered up with a gunshot noise effect.
I read somewhere that it was originally going to be named Spare Bricks. I really like the album though, theres just something to it, I love Rogers voice on it, and Two Suns in The Sunset is one of my favourite lyrics songs of all time. EDIT: Yeah, listening now, it's in the title song. "...and if ya make it past the shotguns in the hall, dial the combonation, open the priest hole, and if I'm in, I'll tell ya..." *gun shot*. It was originally "I'll tell ya whats behind the wall."
Wow, I never new that. Thanks for sharing.:thumb: |
I don't think the entire album is extras from The Wall, but I know some of the songs are.
|
Yeah, not all of it is extra's. It was originally planned that way though because The Wall was going to be a triple album but got cut down to a double.
|
Stop whoring for rep guys.:p
I just listened to Shine on you Crazy Diamond pt. 6-9 and I think I might actually like it better now than 1-5. My Floyd favourites have been changing a lot lately, I like Rogers voice a hell of a lot more than I used to as well. |
Ya I like Roger's voice, as completely bizarre as it is.
I wish Floyd had utilized Rick's singing more. |
He does have a weird voice. It fits the music so well.
|
I like the part in Hey You when Roger comes in and he sings "hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllll" really high and it sounds like hell but it sounds so awesome at the same time.

Together we staaaaand!! Divided we fall!!! fall!! fall! fall fall
|
My favourite use of that brand of Rogers singing is actually on The Final Cut.
"You take her frail hand.........aand hoold on to the dreaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam" and then the way his voice fades into the sax solo. It gives me chills everytime man. I seen the Aussie Floyd do it live, it was amazing how well they got it. And yep, not all of the album was spare Wall stuff, I mean Not Now John had to be a new song. |
I think that's the only Floyd song that uses the word "fuck".
|
No there was a couple of others I'm pretty sure, not as gratuitous though :thumb:
|
pink floyd
|
no there are others, I'm just too lazy to look them up, but yeah I just got ummagumma, what did you guys think of that? I think it's completly mental, but it's kinda good at the same time
|
Speak To Me/Breath "I've been mad for fucking years"
Pigs (Three Different Ones) "You fucked up old hag..." I think that's it though for Pink Floyd's use of the word "****" |
thank you motionless I thought it was speak to me/breathe, but wasn't gonna post and get laughed at 'cuz I could have been wrong
|

I didn't really like Ummagumma all that much but I'm going to listen to it again before I start knocking it. It is pretty mental though.
|
"So I open my door to my enemies, and ask can we wipe the slate clean, but they tell me to please go fuck myself"
|
Ummagumma is their best album.

Haven't heard that song, if it is a song...:upset: |
Ummagumma is their best album.
The live side, maybe. I've just found this on a neighbours' last.fm account ... (S)hine on (Y)ou crazy (D)iamond SYD! Call me a nub if you wish, but I've only just realised this! |
(S)hine (On) (Y)ou (C)razy (D)iamond
SONY CD! I think it's just a coincidence really. |
Haven't heard that song, if it is a song...:upset:
It's from the Division Bell. It's called Lost For Words. I do wish people would stop looking for some kind of elaborate codes in Pink Floyd's songs, their lyrics are usually fantastically written and extremely plain on what they mean, I mean maybe the odd un said word or metaphor, but there is absolutely no need to be checking for secrets, it's all right there in the songs. The stuff with syncing it to the Wizard of Oz is ridiculous, Dave Gilmour said himself that it was probably some student on too much spliff. And why would they just ignore the fact that there is the word Crazy in Shine On, and even the word On if you include two letter words, it doesn't mean Syd. It's about Syd, which is easy to tell from the lyrics, and the fact that we just all know, but it doesn't mean Syd. uh....right? |

I remember hearing Don Mclean saying that all the references in American Pie were purely coincidence too which is clearly not the case. So who knows really. P.S. Paul is dead |
I think the SYD thing actually was intentional, I mean it's not that much of a stretch. And the Wizard of Oz thing may be a coincidence but it's still pretty fun.
|
I love Syd's voice
|
Ya I thought I heard the Syd thing was on purpose.
And the Wizard of Oz thing may not have been intentional, but it does work, and it is really cool. |
I've got to try that one day. First I think I'll have to buy/rent a copy of the Wizard of Oz.
|
It's on youtube
|
Ahh damn why'd you have to call my bluff like that? I was just trying to get the thread going again.:p
