Tolkein is an amazing author.
i love BG's Nightfall in Middle-Earth (i love The Silmarillion as well)

Stormrider 04-21-2006 03:43 PM

I had never heard of the Silmarillion before NIME...

Josh 04-21-2006 03:44 PM

/slaps.

go read all the Tolkein you can get hold of!

ACircuitShock 04-21-2006 03:44 PM

The Silmarillion is amazing, if a little dry. It's like reading a history text or the bible... only way cooler and with elves. :)

Josh 04-21-2006 03:45 PM

it gave me a headache the first time i read it. so i read it again straight away.
it's good, but i suppose it's told in a manner that's a bit too linear.

ACircuitShock 04-21-2006 03:47 PM

Ya, it was hard to get my head around all the stories at first, but now I really love it. Let's face is it, Tolkien wasn't the greatest "writer". He was, however, a great thinker and creator.

I have all Lord of the Rings books...including the Hobbit. I havn't finished the second though, and havnt read the third and the Hobbit :upset:

NP Einherjer - Slaget Vad Harfsfjord

Tyr 04-21-2006 04:06 PM

The Hobbit is kind of childish, since it's written for children.

Stormrider 04-21-2006 04:09 PM

Oh really...I learned something right there...

ACircuitShock 04-21-2006 04:23 PM
The Hobbit is kind of childish, since it's written for children.
True, but I still enjoy it. :)

Tyr 04-21-2006 04:32 PM
Oh really...I learned something right there...
I think he wrote it for his own children when they were small...
True, but I still enjoy it. :)
I enjoyed it too, but one should be aware of the fact that it's not the same kind of book as the Lord of the Rings.

Stoic 04-21-2006 05:23 PM
The Silmarillion is amazing, if a little dry. It's like reading a history text or the bible... only way cooler and with elves. :)
It is indeed dry, I noticed that. BG turned it into something very intense and emotive though. Knowing the story really adds to NIME.
Let's face is it, Tolkien wasn't the greatest "writer". He was, however, a great thinker and creator.
Seconded. It is amazing how he created a whole new world from the scratch.

Stormrider 04-21-2006 05:28 PM

So, I'm going to the CD store in a few minutes :D

Still not sure what I'm going to get back home with...but I'll let you all know what it is :)

Stormrider 04-21-2006 07:39 PM

So...I bought Sonjic Firestorm :D

I was extremely surprised of seeing it there, and it made my decision harder. It was between that and Hellfire Club. I chose Sonic Firestorm because it was actually the only time I had seen it in a store. Then and well, I had a feeling for more Dragonforce...

I just hope I won't regret this...

Deth 04-21-2006 07:41 PM

I think Sonic Firestorm is their weakest album. It does contain my favorite song Fury of the Storm on the other hand.

Still need me some Edguy.

Stormrider 04-21-2006 07:44 PM

It's actually the one from them that I wanted the most :p

I love Edguy a lot. At the store, there was Mandrake, Theatre of Salvation, Hellfire Club, Rocket Ride and this other one whichb I don't remember. I really wanted to buy Hellfire Club as well :(

Deth 04-21-2006 07:46 PM

Do what I do. Don't buy CDs for a few months and then go crazy. I love walking out with 4 or 5 albums.

NewKindofArmy03 04-21-2006 07:46 PM

Yeah, Fury of the Storm is my favorite too. I need to get my tickets for their show here in May. I like Sonic Firestorm more than Inhuman Rampage as of now, but I still need to listen to that more.

NP: Elvenking-The Winter Wake

Deth 04-21-2006 07:49 PM

Inhuman Rampage is a lot more consistant to me. It doesn't have crappy ballads or weaker songs like Once in a Lifetime.

Sleepy 04-21-2006 07:52 PM
Inhuman Rampage is a lot more consistant to me. It doesn't have crappy ballads or weaker songs like Once in a Lifetime.
I agree, although Fury of the Storm is a better song than anything on Inhuman Rampage, IR has MORE good tracks.

Stormrider 04-21-2006 07:53 PM
Do what I do. Don't buy CDs for a few months and then go crazy. I love walking out with 4 or 5 albums.
My problem though is that as soon as I got the money to spend to get one...I spend it. It's ...maybe a month I havn't bought a cd...no wait more. I'm not too sure. The CD cost 31$ with the tax :-/

I'll do that next time though...I hope. Wait a few months, gather money that I want to spend, not what I'm saving up...then come out of there with 4 albums

Surprisingly, this is the first Dragonforce album I see in a store.

I can't not spend money on music when I have it...

I want to get so much stuff, but have no money for it. Even though I'm sitting on a substantial pile of dough right now...

Lord Abortion 04-22-2006 02:22 AM

I'd much rather listen to either of the first two 'force albums than IR, I don't quite know why, but...

Apocalyptic Raids 04-22-2006 02:24 AM
Don't buy CDs for a few months and then go crazy. I love walking out with 4 or 5 albums.
I do that, although it's usually because I only have enough money every few months, rather than me being any good at saving money.

I did get A Personal Journey today though :-D

Lord Abortion 04-22-2006 02:34 AM

Yeah, I'm really going to have to cut down on CD spending now I quit my job.

Riva 04-22-2006 03:22 AM

I'm the kind of guy who saves for ages then splurges. I love walking into a CD store, and buying several albums of different genres. A brit pop here, a heavy metal there and a jazz album to boot. It's great.
it gave me a headache the first time i read it. so i read it again straight away.
it's good, but i suppose it's told in a manner that's a bit too linear.
Tolkien's son had to wrestle with his father's ideas and compile them into a storyline, that's why. Fantastic ideas involving the creation of the universe through music.
Nevermore talk.
I'd call Nevermore just heavy metal.
are they the same guys that do dungeon's 'resurrection' album that comes with the dvd?

if it is then i officially love those guys...kind of

still no sign of my edguy cds
Limb Music does both, and yeah, they're fond of extras.

Lord Abortion 04-22-2006 03:24 AM

Limb are great, Rhapsody are on there aswell.

Riva 04-22-2006 03:32 AM

Yeah, my version of Rain Of A Thousand Flames came with a sticker. \m/

Lord Abortion 04-22-2006 03:37 AM

Yeah, I have a Resurrection one and a poster

NP-Running Wild-Raging fire

Riva 04-22-2006 03:41 AM

Though it isn't Power Metal: Tills Dagen Gryr is a damn catchy song by Mithotyn.
