Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 10:08 PM

that's why we steal them stew.

seth: well that's true. but i still want one :(

Eliminator 11-30-2006 10:08 PM

mow my lawn

MattSharpIsCool 11-30-2006 10:08 PM

 That's awesome.

What do you want one for, Vince? You wanna hunt, or what?

Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 10:10 PM

is hunting people considered the right verb? if so, yes.

i just want one around the apartment because frankly i live in a lower class neighborhood and it would be nice to have. my katana just doesn't feel quite as safe.

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 10:13 PM

So Vince,

A house at the bottom of a hill is fed by a full tank of water 5 m deep and connected to a house by a pipe 110 m long at an angle of 58 degrees from the horizontal.

a) Determine water gauge pressure at the house

b) How high could the water shoot if it came vertically out of a broken pipe in front of the house?

Since you're mr physics and all.

And I mostly need help on the second one.

MattSharpIsCool 11-30-2006 10:15 PM

I wish you could legally hunt people. I would have bought a gun a long time ago.

There's a big fucking .45 Magnum hanging on the wall at work that I want so badly. It looks like you could drop an elephant at 600 yards with that thing.

When it comes to self defense, a pistol is pretty much a pistol. The only thing you really need to decide is the caliber you want. A Sig 9mm (cop killa) is cheap and works just fine for home-use.

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 10:16 PM

Hmm gun talk.

I've played paintball once. It's fun.

All I have to say to that is this: http://i17.tinypic.com/2ywtu9s.jpg

a. p=f/a
since you're not given area, i'm not sure. if it wants speed though...f cos theta=g, then solve like normal particle physics i suppose

b. given vo to be the v of the water at the house (from a), use particle physis to solve 0=vo^2+g*d (i think)

seth: yeah but i want itt to be sexy :p

MattSharpIsCool 11-30-2006 10:35 PM

Get a Magnum then. It will scare the people out of the house, and you won't even have to shoot it. Just flash it and they will run screaming.

Just remember, if you do shoot them, they will most likely die.

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 10:36 PM

Oh, on a I figured you'd use P=pgh

And I lost you on B, but I'll ask about it tomorrow.

Thanks anywho. :)

Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 10:40 PM

seth: i have no problems with killing people heh. but i dunno, it's almost like a club, i was thinking something cuter, more stylish.

what is p justin?

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 10:42 PM

well the Greek p or Density.

Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 10:44 PM

oic

well that would work then i think

then in part 2 calculate vo from P and you're all set

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 10:56 PM

Ah, well then is g=gravity?

And is that g times distance?

And thanks.

MattSharpIsCool 11-30-2006 11:00 PM

Clint Eastwood uses a Magnum. Are you saying Clint Eastwood has no style?

Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 11:00 PM

yes to both, but bear in mind distance is not the length of the pipie but rather d sin theta

seth: clint eastwood has a different style than me. far more rugged than i can pull off. i'm a wimp

cobert 11-30-2006 11:04 PM

Not if you still have a beard.

Permanent Solution 11-30-2006 11:08 PM

beards don't make you a badass

DJ Ducksauce 11-30-2006 11:09 PM

Alright, coolio.

Gracias hombre.

DJ Ducksauce 12-01-2006 08:00 AM

Que?

Surtr 12-01-2006 08:36 AM

Yes..<_<

So I just tried out my friends paintball gun, and I'm in love..But I'm thinkin' the damn thing needs a new battery, because it's electro and it takes a few tries to turn the bitch on.

Other than that though, it's a nice gun, a little touchy from what I'm used to I s'pose but good nonetheless :)

Jessizzle 12-01-2006 08:55 AM
