i am the robots 12-12-2005 07:56 PM

I need a favor guys, could somebody link me to that article about how Jimmy Page is a thief...?

Jacaranda 12-12-2005 07:58 PM

http://www.furious.com/perfect/jimmypage.html would be it.

Once Upon a Time In America, eh Badmoon excellent movie. Same with Schindler's List, I preferred the Pianist over it as my favorite WWII movie.

i am the robots 12-12-2005 08:00 PM

thanks man :)
I want to see City of God, people have said it was good, but I've yet to see it.

I also wrote a lot on my last reply, but it didn't go through. yay.
Seu Jorge is in that. Most people I know who've seen it liked it.

I've only seen part of Once Upon a Time In America, but what I saw I liked. I also put Schindler's List and The Pianist on my list.

Jacaranda 12-12-2005 08:17 PM

If you haven't seen it Carlito's Way is an excellent gangster film also, with Al Pachino and a curly haired Sean Penn. I liked it a lot. Now there is some dumb sequel or something coming out with P. Diddy :upset:

NP: Bohemian Rhapsody.

So, uh funny story I got a allergic re-action from this medicine I'm taking for my pneumonia and I got hive's all over now. Now Itching: The Bottom of my Feet. The only thing that can cure this is a good shot of Queen I reckon.

blue3 12-12-2005 09:13 PM

That sucks.. Uh yeah, listening to Queen can heal anything. Bohemian Rhapsody is an awesome song.

zabbit82 12-12-2005 09:23 PM

So is Tie Your Mother Down. that has to be my favorite Queen song of all time. :thumb: to the great guitar tone on that.

robo2448 12-12-2005 09:24 PM

Yeah that really sucks.

I've been on a country-rock and folk-rock kick lately. I really can't stop listening to The Byrds. I don't even have The Byrds supposed masterpiece (Sweetheart of the Rodeo), but I've been listening to Fifth Dimension and Ballad of An Easy Rider a lot. I need Sweetheart of the Rodeo for Christmas. The Byrds are so catchy with McGuinn's 12 string and perfect vocal harmonies, I just can't stop listening to them.

np- I Know My Rider (I Know You Rider)

Broken Arrow 12-12-2005 09:25 PM

I have Sweetheart of the Rodeo, I don't see why its hailed as a masterpeice.

Yea, The Byrds are great.

Has anyone ever noticed how big of an influence The Byrds had on Tom Petty. Just listen to "The Waiting" -- it might aswell have been written by The Byrds.
I have Sweetheart of the Rodeo, I don't see why its hailed as a masterpeice.
Well I'm really digging The Byrds now and I really like the songs I've heard off of it (even if that's just 2) so I'm going to give it a try.

Edit- I noticed that a little about Tom Petty too. Some of his songs have similar laid back 12 string riffs. I need to get some Tom Petty too. Plus Petty sings a little like Dylan:cool:.

I have a lot of cds I want for Christmas. Hopefully the grandparents come through in the clutch with some checks.

Wasn't it actually written by The Byrds? Or am I thinking of a different Tom Petty song?

edit: it was "So You Want to Be a Rock n' Roll Star"

Badmoon 12-12-2005 09:35 PM
Wasn't it actually written by The Byrds? Or am I thinking of a different Tom Petty song?
Allmusic says it was written by Petty. I'm not sure which Byrds song Petty covered. :)

PinkFreud 12-12-2005 09:51 PM
No, but I've been thinking about reading it.
definitely do it. its an excellent book. you mght have a hard time finding it though.

i dislike the byrds and tom petty.

Krabsworth 12-12-2005 09:53 PM

PinkFreud 12-12-2005 09:54 PM

Krabsworth 12-12-2005 10:05 PM
what do you have for trade?
What do you want?

PinkFreud 12-12-2005 10:29 PM

nothing in particular now, but if you had a list or something i might be able to find something. as it stands, i have so much music that i have a hard time thinking up something off the top of my head.

Leper 12-13-2005 01:01 AM

Hmm bringing up Petty makes me think I should do a Petty song for the rock covers contest...first I need to get a mixer/soundboard though.:(

Bus 12-13-2005 10:10 AM

You could still record something without a mixer couldn't you? Doing a Petty song would be cool. I still haven't picked what song I want to do though...

NP: The Beatles - Got to Get You into My Life

Lunch 12-13-2005 01:17 PM
Does anyone know what ELP album Karn Evil 9 is on? I can't seem to find it.
It's on Brain Salad Surgery.

Someone might have answered that already.

Seafroggys 12-13-2005 02:24 PM

brain salad surgery is a great album....some really nice pieces on that, especially toccata

Lunch 12-13-2005 02:25 PM

Yea, I agree. Right now my favorite ELP song is Tarkus, although Brain Salad Surgery is better than the Tarkus album overall.

I'm getting their first album for Christmas, and I really want Trilogy and Welcome Back My Friends...(some ELP live album, Karn Evil 9 is 35 minutes).

Woodstock 12-13-2005 02:43 PM

Karn Evil 9 is an awesome piece. Especially the 1st Part, 2nd Impression. It has so many catchy riffs and changes.

NP: Love - Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale (little excessive title)

aC/dC4lyfe 12-13-2005 02:46 PM

Doh!

Oh my god, I'm such an idiot. I have Brain Salad Surgery, it was my first ELP album.

Nice.

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, we're so glad you could attend, come inside, come inside..."

Broken Arrow 12-13-2005 03:04 PM

Thats the only song by them I know.

When does everyone get off for Chritstmas? 23rd for me.

temporary 12-13-2005 03:04 PM
brain salad surgery is a great album....some really nice pieces on that, especially toccata
I love Toccata, I want to get my hands on a the original classical version (its bassed on a piece for classical piano.) I love the drumming, too.

Yeah, so I've been on a Nightwish kick lately (not that they have anything to do with Classic Rock.)
