. Became a Christian a few weeks ago.
What, really? Why? |
got woken up after 3 hrs sleepby a woman on the phone asking me questions and a lil interview
it was the most pointless conversation i ever tried to have i was up till 6am boozin then shared a bed with a friend... not the most idea time to try and get a job, i could barely string a sentance together |
I don't know what to say when people ask me that, because when I say that I went to Church and experienced Jesus, they don't believe me.
Which I understand, because well, I didn't believe any of it untill I went to Church with an open heart. It's a wierd situation because alot of the things I believe about life contradict what alot of Christians say, and it's hard to fit Jesus into them. But hey, I have a Church to go to and chat to everyone about that now. |
Gotta hand it to you AG, you're one seriously weird guy.
|
But living a pretty happy life, so I must be doing something right.
I imagine you're an Athiest squiggs? What are your thoughts on life and death? |
But living a pretty happy life, so I must be doing something right.
I imagine you're an Athiest squiggs? What are your thoughts on life and death?
I'd say 90:10 atheist:agnostic. I have moments of wondering, though they're brief and not really significant. I do find some religious tripe genuinely insulting, if i'm honest. Like, I knew this Yank at school, massive god-squad kind of family, and he had a status a couple of weeks back "What a wonderful go we all serve, even if you don't believe in him" and I genuinely found it offensive for someone to force their ideas on me like that, especially TELLING me that i SERVE someone. Serve someone I don't even believe exists. |
I never considered myself an athiest, I thought I was waiting for someone or something to come and give me the answer, whether it be Christian, Muslim, Hindu or whatever. I was striving for proof.
Now I'm sort of thinking I was an athiest all along, because I would go to church with my wife, and listen to the sermons and think, 'oh, that's all ok isn't it', but Jesus didn't appear infront of me and say 'I'M REAL AIDAN, BELIEVE IN ME NOW'. In that way, I was an athiest, and as closed to faith as it's possible to be. Loads of Christians use the phrase 'Jesus is knocking', to demonstrate that all you need to do is open the door and let him in. I tend to disagree. For me, Jesus was pressing the doorbell, but I had severed the wires. When I went to Church, I wasn't sure what was going to happen to me. I opened the door not knowing whether anyone was behind it or not, and in that way I had finally become 'open to faith'. And once you're open to Jesus, he doesn't say no. Like I said, I'm still confused about alot of my previous beliefs, for example, do I have to stop believing in evolution or the big bang? Because I do. I'm gonna find it hard to accept anyone telling me otherwise. But I'm sure there are theorists out there that encompass both evolution and Jesus into their studies. But who knows. Also, on an unrelated note, the scene in Dark Knight where The Joker creates Two-Face is super powerful. |
Well, i'm pleased for you, I genuinely am.
Just don't turn out to be one of those weird religious goon types. |
In other news, this is me 4 years ago on my final assignment in skiathos for my Music Foundation Degree.

In response to your photo AG:
She passed out, so we starting to play buckaroo. After we put the guitar hero controller on her (not mine by the way!), we realised she wasn't waking up any time soon so continued puttin stuff on her, even a chair I think. Then we all shouted as loud as we could, she didn't wake up but the porter heard it apparently :-\ so yeah then we actually got a bit worried, we started trying to wake her up, to no avail (even threw a pint of ice cold water in her face) until she ended up waking up as if she'd never passed out in the first place. And there I conclude my fable. |
Junooni is kinda a retard tbh.
I remember finding the last couple of temples onward quite hard, though there was a step up in skill once you were an adult and started the temples.
I was 7 when it came out. |
Finished Dead Space.

good ending?
|
Ran out of steam a bit in the last two chapters and they really blurted the whole story out in about 5 minutes but it was an incredible game overall. I might give it another play through cause you get some cool gifts for completing the game.
|
to AG, you believe what you believe. if your down for jesus AND the big bang then thats more than fine man

Just don't start dishing out money for them and keep your kids in sight

Another fantastic English morning, and another day off work. I should really do something with my spare time.
|
Aidan, I have to say I'm a staunch Atheist and nothing is going to change that (I personally think that the 'opening the door/your heart' thing is basically just allowing yourself to believe something because there's a gap it could fill), but I've got to hand it to you for keeping well grounded about the whole thing, if only all Christians could be so understanding of things non-religious.
|
I believe there's something greater than us but I don't believe in religion. They can't all be correct, and they all have the same principals of 'if you do good, you'll be rewarded, if you do bad, you'll be punished'. I do believe Jesus existed, but I think he was just a real nice guy, a good samaritan.
For instance, I think he once shared his fish and bread with some poor people who had no food. But over the years the 'chinese whispers' have turned these few people into 5,000. Also, he probably once turned up to a gig and gave everyone some wine, for no reason. Maybe all they had was water. A nice thing to do. Again, 2000 years later, he miraculously turned water into wine. I believe there's something greater than us so I guess that makes me agnostic. All I'm sure of is that, as a race, we know sweet FA. |
I believe in Evolution and the Big Bang, but that isnt to say im dis-respectful to the people who have faith. Unless they start blowing **** up then i get pretty annoyed.
|
I realy have no problem with people having faith and beliefs but it doest bug me when they come out with utter retarded ****. Some stuff you hear them babbling seems to use logic borrowed from a 5 years old.
|
Westboro Baptist Church represent!
|
To me, religion is/was a stopgap for knowledge; I hope that one day it will become redundant, but I'm not holding my breath.
|
Playing Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe hell yeah.

Please say you phrased it like this on purpose! Hilarious. :D |
Aye I did lol :)
I've got absolutely nothing against religious people, I just think I have my own God and when it comes to the end, personally I think we'll all find that it was the same 'being' (without questioning what it is to be). |
I just think we'll stop existing. Period. Why should we be any different to any other living organism?
Also, if I was going to be religious, I would totally worship the Norse gods. |

no god, nothing supernatural, nothing that science will not be able to explain
|
So yeah, out of interest, how many other forums do you guys go on?
|
regularly? none. randomly registered on quite a few though.
I just think we'll stop existing. Period. Why should we be any different to any other living organism?
Also, if I was going to be religious, I would totally worship the Norse gods.
Do it. Most of the Norse gods are just anthropomorphic representations of natural things anyway (which is true of most religions although not all of them believe it). Ásatrú is a really laid back religion compared to most, humans have total free will, aren't slaves to the gods, encourages science, etc. |
I just think we'll stop existing. Period. Why should we be any different to any other living organism?
Also, if I was going to be religious, I would totally worship the Norse gods.
Your knowledge of what a living organism is has come from human interpretation. Therefore, your knowledge of what death is, has come from human interpretation. And death is something that not one of us has truly experienced. In essence, we 'know' sweet **** all. We can only produce theories. |
