ebullition is great. Wolves are pretty good, nothing amazing though.

whiteminority 02-13-2006 06:50 PM

How long did it take for your order?

deadohiosky9 02-13-2006 06:51 PM

like 3 or so days i think?

whiteminority 02-13-2006 06:52 PM

Ok, cool. :thumb:

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 08:28 PM

So there was a thread in the bass forum asking about "good emo bassists" and someone tried to argue with me that Silverstein's album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" was very similar to CTTS...:amaze:

They also said From Autumn to Ashes and Funeral for a Friend were "emo."

I'm not a genre nazi or anything but I thought it was funny. I was like, "Dude, Silverstein? Are we talking about the same band?" :p

...so anyway...I'm listening to Textbook Traitors.

^

Naw, I closed it...I suggested a few bands, along with another user who listens to emo, and let the thread run its course. The people mostly just said "Yeah whatever Gav posts just do that." There were a few Thrices and a few The Useds, though...Thrice I can understand but...come on...The Used? Is he even good? :p

I remember hearing cool bass on that off minor split.

cbmartinez 02-13-2006 09:26 PM

Off Minor's bass is fucking awesome. Thrice is a given. Though he kinda chills on the new album.

Moss Icon's bass is really good too.

deadohiosky9 02-13-2006 09:26 PM

off minor has f.ucking sweet bass.

EDIT: fugazi has sweet bass too.

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 09:47 PM

Off Minor
Saetia
Thrice
Fugazi
Moss Icon

All stuff I pitched somewhere or other in that thread...I had about 10 posts in it, naming random bands with good bassists as I went along...

Saetia's my favorite, though...I don't know how many of you guys play bass but I love what their bassist(s) (they had a few incase you didn't know...some didn't work out and one died) do in the band...truly some good bass playing right there.

AIRIC 02-13-2006 09:50 PM

I love the Kodan Armada. So awesome.

The bass makes songs like Postlapsaria.

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 09:58 PM

^ Exactly.

And what about "Some Natures Catch No Plague" and "The Sweetness and the Light." Where would those be without bass? Same with "The Poet You Never Were." :p

Overall all of Saetia's bassists have been awesome and they're my biggest influences when I play bass in my band but I do vocals in my main band so I don't really play in the other band too much, really...it was more of a sideproject, as we're all in other bands.

The guy out of the Used has a really nice tone, other than that he is functional. I play bass too, apart from those mentioned City of Caterpillar and The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg have awesome basslines.

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 10:02 PM

^ I've never listened to The Used...I just never got into them and don't listen to the radio (I always have my CDs in my car) so I've never noticed his tone...I'll check it out, I guess.

They're pretty righteous.

Since I have nothing better to do, and no date, I'll go see Ed Gein and Number 12 tommorow.

Its pretty nice, but not worth listening to the Used for.

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 10:21 PM

^ Point taken...

I love the bassist from Fugazi's tone...good bassist + good tone + good band = <3 in my book...

I saw Number 12 with Vanna. Vanna sucks so bad...I hate them. Number 12 was sick, though...awesome live show.

jamie wrote a lot of the bass lines for saetia, and he does some for off minor too. which explains why the bass in both bands just f.ucking own.

bottlerocket 02-13-2006 10:37 PM

^ Ah, that explains a lot, I guess...

I never knew...

BigJC 02-14-2006 04:10 AM
