Yeah man. 7", 9", 11". I remember that being mentioned in an issue of MD.

Static 01-21-2007 01:20 PM

I personally like XS hats, quite a bit actually. I'd say go for it.

I have some, they arent too shabby. A bit clangy sounding when opened, but still pretty good hats

that what wouldnt work

Drum Phil 01-21-2007 03:06 PM

A 20" AAXplosion would lose most of the qualities that made it an AAXplosion.

I tried to order one last year instead of my 19.

Tim 01-21-2007 03:16 PM

ohh. i wonder how much difference the 18 and 19 really are from eachother. i would like to hear them side by side.

Aaron 01-21-2007 05:35 PM

How about 13" HHX Stage Hats or 14" Sig SEs or any sized Ufip Class-series hats?

FL3P 01-21-2007 05:45 PM
Yeah man. 7", 9", 11". I remember that being mentioned in an issue of MD.
Ive seen n the 9 and 11 but nothing of the 7 yet. I did notice the new A Custom EFX crashes though. I might just have to try one of those!

14" Paiste Alpha Power Hi-hat Cymbals

i currently these hats. how are they? if you can gimme sabian hats that sound the closest to these that be great. thanks. :chug:

Aaron 01-22-2007 03:28 PM

How would you describe them? No two cymbal makes sounds the same, but there are similarities, so it's easiest to match to taste.

i know that no 2 cymbals will sound EXACTLY the same. i just wanna kno some sabain hats that have a similar sound and perform some-what the same. also, what type of music usually sounds well with these hats. what artists use these?

ant_182 01-22-2007 03:50 PM

Next buys
19" A Custom Crash
18" or 16" Oriental Trash

What would be better as a main china? (Size) What should I get First?

I have
14" A Mastersound Hi hats
19" Z Custom Med Crash
20" ZXT Med. Ride (2nd crash)
21" A Sweet Ride
14" Total ZXT China

Alphas in a Rock weight are pretty applicable to most. I'd say AAs or AAXs in Rock weights [heavier models] are worth checking out if your looking to upgrade. I can't think of too many that use them; I know Baby-Bruford [Bill Bruford's son] uses them with his work in The Infadels.

LoneStarDrummer 01-22-2007 03:54 PM

go with the 18" to offset the 14" china you currently have. also since you're using a 20" ride as a crash, you'll want to stick with the slightly darker, fuller sound of an 18"

What's peoples opinions of the 16" Zildjian A China-High?
Thinking of buying one and having it paired with my 12" Wuhan.

FL3P 01-22-2007 04:29 PM

I think that would sound very trashy and loud and quite cool.

LoneStarDrummer 01-22-2007 04:30 PM

i like it. it's a very clean sounding china. i prefer them that way.

by paired, are you referring to stacking them?

Aaron 01-22-2007 04:31 PM

Nah, I mean in the same setup but near each other. Do you know the song Take This Life by In Flames? He has a grove in the bridge where he rides two of them.. I want that type of sound.

FL3P 01-22-2007 04:35 PM

Ahhhh, I thought you meant together as well.

LoneStarDrummer 01-22-2007 04:35 PM

oh alright. just listened to the video on youtube. should work well then.

i hate stacked chinas by the way.

Aaron 01-22-2007 04:52 PM

Yup, so do I. I can handle a splash inside of a china for that buzz-sound.

LoneStarDrummer 01-22-2007 05:02 PM

yeah those can sound pretty nice. so long as the splash doesn't kill the sound of the china

Aaron 01-22-2007 05:05 PM

That's where half-felts come in handy.
