True. Its hard to name many people that have stayed in the same style over a long period of time in one band. I guess Maiden would be pretty close.
I dont no, Megadeth stayed pretty steady over their career. I mean they did'nt stray from metal at all, in the late' 90s the tempos slowed a bit, but it was still bad-@$$ metal, their only low point was Risk, which kind of sucked, but the re-issue is suppost to kick @$$.

Umm...

Cryptic Writings and Risk were definitely not metal.

Maybe some of Cryptic, but it wasn't overall a metal album.

Don't type like a retard, and you're wrong anyway.

RustedPieces 09-24-2005 10:09 AM

Risk wasn't even close to metal.

Themadhatter 09-24-2005 10:19 AM

Risk and CW owned! Maybe not metal, but it's Megadeth. Imo, a nice break from the thrash was cool. Both solid albums I think.

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 10:20 AM

They took a permanent break from thrash with CTE...

Cryptic Writings still owns.

RiceMonster 09-24-2005 11:20 AM

Cryptic Writtings is not bad. I like to listen to Trsut or something every now and then.

Jev 09-24-2005 11:35 AM

Isn't She-Wolf on CW too?

RustedPieces 09-24-2005 11:36 AM
Isn't She-Wolf on CW too?
Yeah. So is Almost Honest, I like that song too.

smart blockhead 09-24-2005 05:21 PM

What are some Megadeth songs (thrash ones) that aren't impossibly hard?

smart blockhead 09-24-2005 05:54 PM

The Iron Maiden has a tribute band, maybe we should make one too?

The Mechanix
Skin O' My Teeth
Lucretia

Try the Killing is my Business and Countdown to Extincion albums, their songs are relative easy.

Yeah, but Marty Friedman > God.

BludgeonySteve 09-24-2005 08:04 PM

Marty's solos would be quite a challenge to do justice to. Maiden solos aren't quite as hard.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-24-2005 08:13 PM
Yeah, but Marty Friedman > God.
true.

Metallion#666 09-24-2005 08:21 PM
Risk wasn't even close to metal.
Sure it was, it was just s h i t y metal. It was just really bad. As much as i love megadeth, that album was the essence of s h it y ness.

smart blockhead 09-24-2005 08:23 PM

If it wouldn't be too awful we could change the solos.

Lookind down the cross is sort-of difficult, but it is so bad-a s s once you can play it. I love that song and it's a real thrasher to.

I'd be down for it once I get my PODxt. Which will be like 2 months most likely.

What kind of axe do you have?

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 08:36 PM

Schecter C-1 Classic.

I may sell it though, in favor of a Carvin. I'm pretty much overhauling my entire rig now, or saving to.

Metallion#666 09-24-2005 08:39 PM

Nice,
Right now I have a Fender Katana (flying V), a BC Rich Bich, and a Washburn Tabu Series. I'm playin all these trough a s h i tty a s s practice amp. I love the fender though. I'm gonna save up for an ESP, or a washburnd Dimebag Darrell sig.

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 08:43 PM

If you want a Dimebag sig get a Dean, they're so much better. I've looked into ESPs a lot lately, since I've been after a high end guitar for a while now. I started out looking for Vs, RRs, Kellys, and Warriors, now I'm pretty set on a V for various reasons.

I love my Schecter but the thing is so damn heavy, my leg falls asleep while playing sitting down.

Metallion#666 09-24-2005 08:47 PM

My bich weighs a f u c kin ton, but for some reason I like heavy guitars. I think for my next guitar I'll get a DV8

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 09:38 PM

Can anyone remind me what songs Dave does his thing where he records two vocal tracks, one normal and one weird? Definitely on the earlier records, I can't recall specifics though right now. I just heard another song with it, and remembered the technique. I think its really cool.

Are you talking about one where the two different vocal tracks are played simultaneously? One where theres two different tracks (i think) is "Take No Prisoners". Theres one track with Dave singing normal and another one thats deep.

days of the new 09-24-2005 09:48 PM

who here thinks dave mustaine can fight? who would win in a fight dave or the guitarist for megadeth with the curly black hair (forget his name)

Simultaneously.

Dave is a blackbelt, I'm sure he could pwn a fair few of douches. I'd like to see him beat down Zakk Wylde.

Don't know any simultaneous ones. Is he doing both parts on one track in Take No Prisoners? That would be hillarious to see him beat down Zakk Wylde. I think a fight between James Hetfield and Dave would be awesome too.
