because this is the internet. thousands of different people every day will see any picture i post on this forum. i refuse to compromise my privacy like that any more. i don't get any benefit from posting pictures of myself, and the only thing that could come of it is a loss of privacy (which could range from annoying to very serious). well, that and it would give fodder to the ample supply of morons we have here.
