Good deal, I'll get something written up in a bit then, either before or after I go to the store.
Okay, I'll probably be on until 2:00 (EST) at least. Whenever you can get it to me is fine.
What'd everyone else do tonight?
I spent the night hanging out with a friend, and watching the World Series.

I see you're downloading Waking Ashland, and Saves the Day. Excellent choices.

DJ Ducksauce 10-22-2005 10:03 PM

Ha. I actually caught the end of the game. Me watching baseball. OMGWTF

Mute Print 10-22-2005 10:05 PM

I probably watched around 100 baseball games this year. Every Yankees game is televised around here, and I watch a lot of them. I watch Sunday Night Baseball alot of the time to.

Note: not necessarily entire games, but at least a few innings.

I don't watch baseball much/at all. The Astros are playing, so I have to at least know if they're doing good or not.

Well you're really good at randomly choosing awesome music then. Waking Ashland's EP is probably one of my favorite albums right now. I used to have their full length, but it was a protected .wma, so I had to delete it.

I take pride in my random downloading abilities :).

If you could send me the demo and new album at some point, I'd really appreciate it. If not, don't worry about it.

I’d classify them as Nu-Metal or Post-Hardcore, but I’m sure people would disagree.

Similar Artists:
To be totally honest, I’ve never heard another band like them. The singer is very distinct and very different. Musically maybe riff based bands like mewithoutyou or System of a Down.

Andrew Schwab, Randy Torres, Steve Dail, Alex Albert

2002 Truthless Heroes
2004 Songs to Burn Your Bridges By
2005 And the Rest Will Follow

Description:
I first found these guys on a CD sampler about 4 years ago full of “hard Christian music” with such bands as Blindside and P.O.D. back when neither were popular. These guys were the only band to get 2 tracks on the CD, that right there said something. They’re definitely above a lot of acts in my mind, though they haven’t found the recognition for it yet.

Trying to describe their music is quite difficult. I guess you take a very unique screamer/singer, place those vocals over riff based music in the vein of Nu-Metal and Post-Hardcore bands, and you have them. None of their releases are bad really, but their best is probably Drawing Black Lines. Of course I have 4/5 albums on slsk if you’re interested after hearing the stuff in the links.

The thing that will probably make or break this band for you is the Andrew’s vocals, because even as good as the music is, the Andrew is what makes them stand out.

Okay, thanks a lot Vince. I'll have the thread up in like 45 minutes.

Any idea for a thread title?

Cheer Up Emo Kid anyways.

Mute Print 10-23-2005 12:02 AM

Well, I've finished writing my description, now I just need to come up with a title for the thread...

I'm thinking something simple like "Expanding Your Tastes #1: Set It Straight / Project 86"

Sounds good, having the band names in the title is a good idea.

Mute Print 10-23-2005 12:05 AM

Okay, then I'll have it up in a minute.

My description seems kind of weak, but I'm not much good at relaying how a band sounds. Overall it looks awesome though.
