I haven't listened to any Lennon because I'm cool like that.

ForeverMaybe I'll go get my burned copy of Imagine...it's all the way up in my room though.

I had alot of The Beatles stuck in my head all day today.

A sad day in rock history....

I've listened to Lennon and the Beatles all day. Such a terrible tragedy.

I love Lennon's solo career. Plastic Ono Band is one of my favorite cds. Just so incredibly raw. Imagine is amazing also. I think it's probably more accessible. It has a nice mixture of beautiful melodic songs and angry protest songs. The only song off of it that I don't really like is Mama I Don't Want to Be Soldier, which sounds a little outdated, but it's not a bad song. Then Lennon went on a little hiatus, but his final album, Double Fantasy, and the posthumous album he was working on when he died, Milk and Honey; would be as good as Plastic Ono Band and Imagine if it didn't have Yoko's tracks on it. I find it really sad that he was on top of his game when he died.

There showing a documentery on A&E called John Lennon for anyone interested

NP: How Do You Sleep (amazing song)

Glitterati 12-08-2005 08:16 PM

It seems to me that Lennon started making edgier music in his solo career. He couldn't have done a song like "Working Class Hero" in his solo career.

Nice copying me with How Do You Sleep?

This documentary is almost too upsetting for me to watch. Interesting though.

And yeah Lennon started making some edgier music in his solo career. In 1971 he moved permanently to New York and became completely absorbed in activism and protesting the war. Richard Nixon actually attempted to deport him because he started so many protests.

New Lennon avatar. I think it's a better picture.

Edit- This stuff about Chapman is really disturbing.

Good ol' John Lennon. I wish I could have been alive when he was :(

Who saw the Dateline special about Lennons death? It was really amazing. They documented everything Chapman did for about 4 days until the shooting. I mean like everything he did. Very interesting.

Glitterati 12-08-2005 09:00 PM

I lit a candle for John tonight.

magicbus 12-08-2005 09:02 PM

I've been playing Yer Blues all day. I learned the good parts of Clapton's solo from Rock n Roll Circus. I also tried recording Happy Xmas. That was my Lennon for the day.

In happier news, Happy Birthday Jim Morrison!

I missed it, but I've been watching an A&E Documentary on Lennon's death. Man Chapman was a seriously messed up guy. In a sick way, I kind of feel bad for him. I mean, I'm glad he's in prison likely for life, and he deserves to be imprisoned for life, but man, that guy had a lot of issues. Shows how having to deal with so many complicated issues can make you crazy. It also kind of tinted my love for The Catcher in the Rye. I always knew that Chapman was reading the book when he killed John Lennon, but I never knew that it really inspired him to kill him. It's also really creepy that the guy who shot Reagan was inspired by Chapman and The Catcher in the Rye. There are a lot of lunatics in this world.

np- Help

Edit- It's Jim Morrison's birthday:eek:. Man a lot of stuff has happened on December 8th- Lennon, Pearl Harbor, Dimebag Darrell...

Edit 2- Yeah this documentary thing is messed up. Not sure what's going on.

Glitterati 12-08-2005 09:04 PM

Why are you spelling documentary d0cumentary?

Edit - oic.

Yeah in the Dateline thing it said after Chapman shot Lennon he stood over his body and pulled out a copy of Cather in the Rye and began reading it aloud. Wierd dude.

MBS 12-08-2005 09:19 PM

I was wondering why everyone has documentary spelt like documentary. Is it a new filter thing?

MBS 12-08-2005 09:21 PM

is it just the word documentary, or others?

oodles of noodles.

On the way to class this morning these guys on the radio were interviewing one of the security guards who watches Chapman, and he said he's really weird guy.

Do you guys still want Talking Heads stuff? I can send out Stop Making Sense. (ps. it's awesome)

R.I.P. John Lennon. I listened to Lennon and Beatles all day too.

I just got back from this school Christmas concert thing. Our school band played parts of Yesterday and Give Peace A Chance as a tribute to Lennon. It was cool.

..Has anyone heard Bert McCracken's cover of Happy Christmas? He's the guy from The Used.

magicbus 12-08-2005 09:49 PM

I heard a cover of Happy Xmas yesterday, but I didn't like the vocals very much. Maybe that was it?

I thought I heard guitar too. It could've been another cover. Now that I think about it, I don't think they'd be playing The Used on the station I heard it on.

i love you john lennon.....

Imagine is the most beautiful work of art ever created....

in a bit of errie news, how many people have walked past the dakota gate where he was shot? I have numerous times, not a settling feeling in the stomach

Why do I always seem to miss these documentaries?...

Anyone know if either of them are being replayed anytime soon?
