Nice one.

I'm hoping to get $900 or so from the whole, stimulus whatever package. Would give me like three weeks respite from rent.

horseypie 03-17-2009 02:05 AM

yeah im very keen to get my stimulus package

i think im gunna have to spend my tax return on getting my car deemed roadworthy for rego in april :( and i only have like two weeks to do that lol...but my stimulus money will be going towards a new acoustic guitar

gaslight 03-17-2009 02:49 AM

Yeah after I get a new soundcard and laptop I'll be springing for a nylon string acoustic.

horseypie 03-17-2009 03:32 AM

lol i barely play my nylon string and it was tuned to d standard, and one day i looked at it and the low e string had unwound and snapped heaps randomly...i was kinda confused
i think where it sits it cops the afternoon sun in my room and after a while just shat itself

gaslight 03-17-2009 03:39 AM

Haha. Next pay-cheque I get should probably go to new strings for my acoustic. Been missing a B for months.

horseypie 03-17-2009 05:15 AM

goddamn australia is quiet lately

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-17-2009 05:16 AM

i started playing fallout 3 again yesterday because i was bored....i just finished it.

gaslight 03-17-2009 05:36 AM

Awesome.

I love that game, cruising around with my scoped magnum waiting for raiders to start me. Man that thing takes heads apart.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-17-2009 06:11 AM

it is pretty awesome.

i was just watching the news and someone got disqualified in swimming for wearing 2 sets of swimwear and they broke the world record in the heats.

how is that illegal?

gaslight 03-17-2009 06:12 AM

I guess you're not allowed to wear two sets.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-17-2009 06:21 AM

yeah true....but i guess it's got to be illegal because it gives an advantage to the person doing it

i can't really see what the advantage of wearing 2 sets is though

gaslight 03-17-2009 06:43 AM

Neither, probably a bit of a technical rule more than anything else. Like getting fined for having your P plate on an angle.

sgrevs 03-17-2009 06:56 AM

No one gets fined for that though. Not that I've heard of anyway.

How does the stimulus money work. I need a good bass amp and $900 could go a long way...

gaslight 03-17-2009 07:10 AM

It's beyond my knowledge to explain it.

I think it boils down to, if you paid tax last financial year, you maybe get some money.

$900 is the maximum of it I think.

Best to look it up on the ATO or something dude.

What are you looking at, combo amp, head/cab?

sgrevs 03-17-2009 07:41 AM

Not really sure, any suggestions? My friend who plays guitar has an awesome music man guitar amp, pretty old but really solid and in great condition. He suggested I get a MM as well, and reviews I read are pretty good. Need something pretty durable but not too enormous. MM's go really loud and aren't supidly sized.

For convenience's sake, combo is prob better, but I think in the long run head/cab prob works out better. What did you use for gigging with AW, and also whats the deal with this new band, did anything eventuate?

gaslight 03-17-2009 07:53 AM

Depends which band you mean bro. Answer is probably no at any rate.

For AW gigging I used my Aguilar AG500 head with an Epifani UL212 cabinet. That's basically my rig for everything. I'm looking at getting a Thunderfunk head to spoil myself one day, and I'd love to get two Aguilar DB212's (8 Ohm-ers) in Boss Tweed if I had the money and justification.

I've never really seen or played a Music Man amp that I can think of, I was under the impression they haven't been made since the 80s, but I don't know really.

gaslight 03-17-2009 10:03 AM

Naw.

Brew 03-17-2009 11:36 AM

maybe they forgot about you guys or decided it'd be more fun to (try and) annoy the english population of mx.

anyway, this invasion needs more tea and biscuits so I will say cheerio to the aussie thread.

Yeah I don't think they make them anymore, but they always get amazing reviews anyway, and my friends amp is pretty sweet. Your desired rig sounds pretty insane, I imagine it would cost a shitload. But I don't really know what that kind of thing would even be necessary for.

gaslight 03-17-2009 06:34 PM

Two 212's isn't that insane really, well, it's more than anyone really needs unless you're playing a huge venue that doesn't have any house sound systems whatsoever.

Honestly a single 212 will get you through anything you need. If you need to fill a huge room just DI the head and go though the house speakers, if there are no house speakers, it's a crap venue, play a better one instead. One DB212 in boss tweed would still be sexy as. But yeah, local bands with a full stack are basically kidding themselves and wasting their money.

You'd be best off getting a nice head and a nice cab I think. If you want, you can make sure that you get it at the right ohm loading that you can add a second cab but it's a long shot, you'll probably he happy enough with one. I've got a 4 ohm Epifani UL212, so my head can't power any additionaly cabs at the same time, but it goes way louder than I'll ever need it to and has a great tone. Tone what you want out of an amp, volume can come from the front-of-house.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-17-2009 08:02 PM

this game looks pretty damn sweet.

Air-pockets between the suits add extra buyoncy. Plus less nipples seen.

gaslight 03-18-2009 07:16 PM

I read that swimmer girl was voted sexiest woman in Sweden. I have to say, I think Sweden must have better than that.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-18-2009 07:22 PM

does one eat soup or drink soup?

gaslight 03-18-2009 07:26 PM

It depends, if you had to chew, then you ate it.

Aaron 03-18-2009 07:59 PM
does one eat soup or drink soup?
You imbibe it.

gaslight 03-18-2009 08:09 PM

Haha. Imbibe is exacty the same as drink.

Aaron 03-18-2009 08:15 PM

Quiet down column-8.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-18-2009 08:19 PM

say it's just tomato soup with no pieces of tomato in it.

do you eat it or drink it?

imbibe.....you've all got to stop making up words

gaslight 03-18-2009 09:13 PM

Imbibe, bibo was Latin for "drink" so we've ended up with imbibe which is like "to drink in".

Tomato soup with no tomato, yeah, if it's just a liquid and you didn't chew, then you drank it.

Though, you "eat" ice-cream, even if you don't chew before you swallow it.

Now I'm puzzled.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 03-18-2009 09:27 PM

yeah i thought about ice cream too, this is one of the mysteries in life that we will never know the answer to.
