Heh, my friend is friends with Chino, too. He also met Adam Jones. I wish I could be him...
How do you become freinds with someone famous? Freak. I don't think I've ever been within in a mile of anyone famous. :upset: lol Danny Carey lost his arm. |

Freak. I don't think I've ever been within in a mile of anyone famous. :upset: lol Danny Carey lost his arm.
He would so pwn the guy from Def Leppard. That guy would be trash almost immediately. |
tr00f.
That was the perfect set up for a rumor though, gotta admit. |
 That reminds me. The welding teacher at my school has a son who met like..a million famous rockstars in his first year out of high school. He met Cold, some Tool members, he tours with Linkin Park (lmao not lucky) and a few others. He was also the biggest freaking pothead at my school.

Like, omigosh! Let's tell everyone!
|
My band gave our demo to Chino of Deftones and of late we haven't suddenly been swept into amazing popularity and rock star status.
the guy who did our demo produced Molley Hatchet and Judas Priest...it was bad *** being in his studio. He knew Jimmy Page in 1967 (had a pic with him...I was gushin'). Plus, he worked with Creed, Michael Jackson, bunch of famous people. Nothing to do with Tool really... Speaking of which...4 Degrees is owning me right now :thumb: |
We should try the ol MX forums tool cover band. I can play alot of Careys stuff, it sounds like there are several others here that can do the same. Would be kinda neat for everyone to record individually, send it to one person and they mix and master it then well put it up for everyone to check out!

id deff be down with that. I just got my GNX4 on lock down for playing back MP3s, and recording. I can play most songs, and am willing to learn any others :-) |

Im certinally planning on oing that using JoZ's bass recordings. Im just waiting on sorting out a mic for myself (not a line in fan), then ill start putting together some tracks using Adobe Audtion. I think i speak for a lot of the thread though ken by saying we would really, really love some drum recordings for you of some songs. Midi drums just dont feel right to play to. (and JoZ deserves rep for the amount of work he's put into his recordings at our request :thumb: ) |

Ok, the majority of Careys songs are amazingly technical. On the later albums, Lateralus, and Aenema, there is alot of drum looping tracks going on in certain areas. In songs like 46&2, in the beginning, I play 2 different electronic sounds independant of the main beat. This is just an example.
In Stinkfist I play the intro using my electronics but at the first major break in the song the pitch of the electronic waves change. As this point I play the waves that are pitched like the beginning. What are we going to do about vocals? Any ideas there? |
Is it Kage who can sing? I know someone can sing in this thread.
|
Hmm...
People can attempt the vocals i spose, depending on the range you may get something from me, but it's not likeley....I suggested Kage may have a maynard-esque voice earlier in the thread, but he assures me he doesn't :(. Could always go and beg sliver, his voice owns, and i think he likes tool. The best way for this to work would be for JoZ to post his midi's/tell us where he obtained them. Thatway we all know what to play and when, upload Mp3's of diff peoples parts (if there are more bassists and drummers wanting to get in) then you can downlaod and mix by yourself, then upload what you want people to hear... :) ...then all guitarists can have a go and stuff, yeah :) |
I suggest, since we have an abundance of guitarists, we fight to the death to claim the position.
/conceals knife I do agree that vocals will be the toughest part to find, But it also means that its open to various interpretaitions from those who can sing. |

I just need to get a good mic, which shouldnt be hard. I would love to sing for my band, but i cant play guitar and sing yet |

Hmm Well i say we get JoZ and Ken to record disposition, no quarter and you lied...Then the two gutiarists with the highest no. of posts in the thread get the positions....Sorry Kage :p /owned....
Anyways it's unfair to only give one guitarist a chance, and it's not really a showing off thing, so it's better to let people pick the parts off a soundlick page or something, and mix it how they want...(I'm also saying this because i can now see myself getting owned severley in the guitar stakes :p) Expect my aenima soon... |
Well yo uall have a head start on me, as I have no method of getting sound from my amp to my cpu at the moment. But i suppose layered guitar parts can be implemented, as well as individual mixing of each guitar part.
I would mix each persons parts in a seperate song, just to see the contrast. It just means JoZ and Ken get their parts played to death. |

Yeah, I'm looking into ways of bieng original atm, Sober and aenema are my first songs i will do. I have basicaly alot of second guitar ideas for sober, and I change the solo around a bit in aenima because i have no slide. I just gotta get the end part of aenema down...

so ur failing to see a joke....hmmmmm +This is MX, we don't look at people with regards to their looks or intelligence, it's all about postcount and Join date. |

so ur saying your idea is not logical, but you're sticking to it...hmmm.... i think we should let JOz decide in that case :thumb: |
To prove what a good job JoZ is doing, I mixed up his bass part with the original for Jerk off

Hey hold up a minute.
Me recording 2 guitars for sober has no bearing whatsoever on my earlier joke aimed at Kage. I was only joking, as i have stated i think everyone deserves a chance, because going on postcount i would be second guitarist in line, and TBH i think i would wreck JoZ and ken's shiz. I'm just playing about with the tracks JoZ has done already atm... |
AJIG, how do you play the 'Fvuck ron hubbard and fvuck all his clones' part of aenema, I haven't got a whammy pedal (well i probably have somewhere in my FX unit but i haven't a clue on how to find it)...do you just go with the low chords? or the upper octave?
|
You referring to the slides from 2nd fret E5 to 10th fret C5? I tend to have the wah active, and I do very small rocks on it. But it sounds ok without, just not like the original.
THere's the part jsut before the chord sliding where I play two nat harms on the 5th fret with wah too, but without the proper pedals, its hard to match the tone. hence why Ænema sounds different fro probably all guitarists. |
:D
I will try to get Patient and Grudge recorded today, however Lateralus/Schism/Disposition will have to wait, I forgot to bring my effects pedal home :o |
whats ur setup bud
Jackson DXMG ---> Morely Classic Wah ----> Jackhammer distortion pedal ---> Marshall MG30DFX. I did use dto have a delay pedal in that, but it got taken back by someone who had apparently only lent me it for 6 months  As you can see, im lacking a tone worthy setup. But its great having the jackhammer to give the crappy MG distortion a bit of life. And at least the amp have things like flange and reverb built in, making it possible to play Tool songs |

Yeah, I play that chord progression, but the timing i use is a bit different from Adams. I tend to strum that last chord a few more times, to try and duplicate that whammy effect. If thats what you were refering to at least. |
Yamaha Pacifica 012 -> Zoom 606 -> Comp line in
Yay for worst setup in thread :) I can't slide that far accurateley that quickly. I just assumed adam used one of those handy dandy Digitech Whammy thingies. Meh I may actually have to sit and practice this song... :upset: Last song i actually had to sit down and learn was Always with me, always with you by satch for a music practical exam... |

YOu can dial almost any imaginable tone, but since i not experienced in that department too much, i usely just fudge it really. I guess if i ever play it live, id take the time to get it perfect. Till then, im just gonna use a Dual recto modeler. |
your guys setup makes me feel like mine really does kick arse

What's more is i haven't learned how to dial in my own setups yet...
...which mean i use zoom's presets *shudder* |

I guess you earn a fair bit. Or have kind supportive parents/girlfriend(s). Im going scouting for a new amp this saturday, so I can see what saving target im aiming at (n00b request of 'what amp should I get' input here) |

Im going scouting for a new amp this saturday, so I can see what saving target im aiming at (n00b request of 'what amp should I get' input here)
id assume you want a tube combo. If i were you, id hold out for a mesa mark IV :thumb: i was gonna get that head for my half stack, realized the GNX4 was 1/3, for a billion extra tones, plus a million features, so i went with that instead. I have 1700 bucks, and im just sitting on my mound for a while. /my parents dont give me crap, and my mom wanted to jack my rent up. i told her quote : thats bullsh IT im not givin you anything extra. I dont even sleep here |
Girlfriends that fund guitar equipment? I gotta get myself one of them!
Erm when i was looking at a new amp a while back i was looking at a spider 212 (line 6) or a Laney tube amp. I was gonna have to try e out of course, but never got round to it, realising i have no band and don't play live, so there is no need for an amp. |
awesome. Ill try to get mine. Should i go off of the original track for the time allotted, or should i just sync to you?
For the most part, I'd say me, because I am almost always a little off, thanks to backing track differences / me not starting right with the music... |
