Atonement is my least favorite on the album. I like every song on GR except that one. There's just something about it; too boring. It's like filler.
yea, and there's that weird little riff they threw on the end for some reason. I do love that one drum beat in the song though. you know the one im talking about:naughty: |
Actually I have no idea.
|
I find Isolation Years to be kinda crappy, its way to short and just kind of ends... weak ending for a CD IMO.
|
I third that motion, Harlequin Forest is my favorite track on GR.
Anyone else absolutely dazzled by the part of Baying of the Hounds that starts at 5:40? In my book that is right up there with any other part they've done, maybe my favorite riff in the whole Opeth catalog (taking over from the outro to Moonlapse Vertigo).......seeing that live almost made me cry.
All man!Am I ever.Especially when the vocals come in.It makes me picture flames.I think of a scene from hell or something.I think that would make an awesome video. |

Hours of Wealth is the only soft song on the album I seriously like. Isolation Years isn't too bad though. |
Hours of Wealth was decent.
|
Seeing how this is the only thread I know with Pelican fans in it, I bought Australasia today and it's incredible.
Go buy it. |
Very true. I had Australasia for a while, but I deleted it a while back. I should buy it.
|
I also got Agalloch's The Mantle, and anyone who doesn't have this album must buy it immediately.
|
I'm not familiar with Agalloch, unfortunately.
|
Incredible band, fans of Opeth should really check them out.
|
I third that motion, Harlequin Forest is my favorite track on GR.
The part where Mikael sings "It is all false pretension Harlequin forest Awaiting redemption for a lifetime As they die alone With no one by their side Are they forgiven?" is pretty godly. |

Harlequin forest Awaiting redemption for a lifetime As they die alone With no one by their side Are they forgiven?" is pretty godly.
It easily beats out the whole "what would they say if I was gay.." part in Godheads, IMO. I never really saw the magic there. |

Huh? Did I miss something? |
Huh? Did I miss something?
You know, the famous line "what would they care if I was gay, no one would know, hooooomoooooo!"... |

Umm...I don't own that album....but that line seems unbelievable. |
The real line is "What would they care if I did stay, no one would know, oooooOOOOOOOooooooo!"... and you don't own Still Life?
|

Sadly....I don't. I can't find it ANYWHERE. I want it so bad. It's the only Opeth album I don't have. |
Then download it, thats what I did when I couldn't find it..
|

I might tomarrow actually. |
Be prepared to hear 2 of the bands best ever recorded songs, The Moor and Face of Melinda. :D
I almost hate that song actually. It is in the top three of Opeth's worst songs for me. The riffs are so devoid of effort or originality. I mean, when the drums stop and the lone guitar plays harmonics, it's just total dumbness. The lyrics don't help it at all for me, when he starts talking about the rotten trees reaching for the light, it bugs me. There is one great part though, right after he says "reaching for the light", and the two guitars play that melody. It meanders off into pointlessness after that, though. Could someone just point out why they like the track the best out of obviously more thought-out songs like The Baying of the Hounds? |

Omg....I just downloaded their first album.....I do not have words to describe them...Wow. |

I think Reverie/Harlequin Forest is just as well written as every other song on the album. I like The Baying of the Hounds a lot too, but it doesn't stand out among the other songs. |

Meh, I think that song is really good. If anything, the riffs in "Ghost of Perdition" are the ones that are weak. |

I love Face of Melinda. It's the song I always play with my acoustic. :) |

I only have random tracks by them but I will definately looke out for it :thumb:. |

 Who made up that line in the first place? And 'What would they care if I did stay' as a melody beats the crap out of Harlequin forest...and most Opeth melodies. It's definitely one of their best. |
You know, the famous line "what would they care if I was gay, no one would know, hooooomoooooo!"...
Shut up please. Twisting lyrics around is blasphemy. |

Yeah it is, Godheads Lament is tight. |
I find it really cheesy sounding..
|
Because you're from Kanaduh.
|
The song bleak off of Blackwater Park is such an awesome song... Opeth is so awesome.
|
For the first time, I'm giving Blackwater Park a serious listen. I've heard the first two songs and now I'm half way through Harvest.
I'm already convinced that I will buy this album as soon as I get money. |

I have it downloaded. I've had it for a while, but never really payed attention to it. I also had it for a while a year or so ago. EDIT: Harvest is now my favorite song in the world. |
Seeing Opeth tonight. I had to switch shifts with someone and work a 5:00 AM shift this morning, but it'll be worth it, damn it!
|
Because you're from Kanaduh.
Yep. :thumb: :upset: |
Amazing show last night! Both Pelican and Opeth owned the place. The set list was pretty awesome, with their show overall pushing 2.5 hours. Not bad at all. :)
Baying of the Hounds When Bleak In My Time Of Need The Grand Conjuration Face of Melinda Deliverance Blackwater Park Encore: Demon of the Fall Mike was pretty funny when he would talk in between songs. Weird guy, but very cool. Also, Per was the coolest; he looked like a wizard behind his keyboards. I was a little surprised to see him play some of the more floaty guitar riffs while Mike doubled the rhythm guitar part. |
