Lesson one in having an intelligent conversation on a message board... The period, it looks like this: "."

Webster's defines it as:

"the full pause with which the utterance of a sentence closes"

Use it!

Thank you, and good night.

Penny Arcade had a strip about the use of punctuation. I'm going to look for it and post it whenever somebody n00bifies their posts.

I am sorry to all i seem to offend in this thread. If i forget I will have someone hit me.

Check out Torture Squad while you're at it. Pandemonium is one of the best thrash albums of the last 10 or so years, if not the best.

CaptainWaits 02-05-2005 08:42 PM

What should I order first of these Overkill albums

-Feel the Fire
-Taking Over

Deconstruction 02-05-2005 08:53 PM

thank you all for the recomendations i have plenty now. again thanks

ForiegnPenguin 02-05-2005 09:09 PM

I'm sure this has been done a million times but, what are your favorite ten thrash metal songs. Mine would probably be:
Megadeth-Black Friday
Overkill-Deny the Cross
Destruction-Total Desastator 2000
Kreator-Pleasure to Kill
Slayer-At Dawn they Sleep
Death Angel-Mistress of Pain
Dark Angel-Darkness Descends
Forbidden-R.I.P.
Exodus-And then there were none
Coroner-Sudden Fall

Feel the Fire! Great album. Taking Over is good aswell, I'd recommend getting both.
Feel the Fire! Great album. Taking Over is good aswell, I'd recommend getting both.
Yeh, well I know they're both very good (they're the only two 'kill albums I don't have), but I'm only going for one for now, cause in a couple days here I'm gonna order quite a few albums

-Overkill (Feel the Fire, or Taking Over)
-Children of Bodom (Hatebreeder)
-Death Angel (Frolic Through the Park)
-Necrophagist (Epitaph)
-Dissection (Somberlain)
-Dew Scented (Ill natured/Innocence)

There's the list I'm oredering, and for the top 10 Thrash favorite songs, I'd say:

Overkill - Shred
Overkill - Elimination
Overkill - Wrecking Crew
Overkill - Thanx For Nothing
Megadeth - 502
Megadeth - Liar
Megadeth - Tornado of Souls
Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
Sepultura - Stronger Than Hate
Sepultura - Arise

In no order, and they change quite often too, those are just the ones I'm really enjoying right now

ThrashMaster27 02-05-2005 10:34 PM

Go with Feel the Fire. Better album overall if you ask me. Top 10 list? changes to much to be consistant, so I won't bother.

I didn't say anything bad towards you :p . I'm glad to have another thrasher in the ranks and you seem very keen to expand your thrash knowledge and collection :thumb:
As for recommendations, well theres not really that much I can add to metal militias list. He knows probably about 50% more thrash bands than me but I'd be happy to help if you need questions answering on anything thrash related, if I can't answer it then I'm 100% sure that someone else will :thumb:

NP: Destruction - Death Trap

SLATANIC-666 02-06-2005 04:47 AM

Anyway, I have a question of my own :D
What Flotsam and Jetsam albums should I get. I was listening to a couple of songs from Doomsday for the Deceiver, I think Desecrator is an excellent thrash song. Anyway, recommendations please?

I know there's a thread for this already but you guys are more clued up and I'm bound to get better advice. *hopes* :p

metal-militia 02-06-2005 05:59 AM

try to get hold of Doomsday for the Deciever or No Place for Disgrace if you can. Some of the more recent stuff is ok, but not as much as those 2.

My top 10 thrash songs at the moment are:

Whiplash - Warmonger
Kreator - Command of the blade
Devastation - Freewill
Overkill - Overkill
Sadus - Kill Team
Tankard - Chemical Invasion
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Laaz Rockit - Fire in the Hole
Holy Terror - Guardians of the Netherworld
Dark Angel - Merciless Death

LordDargon 02-06-2005 07:27 AM

Yeah just go for those 2 albums. The best song on DFTD is Metalshock, that song is classic!

Metal-militia: Sacrifice is missing from the list v.2!

RCA 02-06-2005 08:26 AM

Top Ten Thrash Songs (for me) as of right now, in no order:

1. Dark Angel - The Burning of Sodom
2. Overkill - Time To Kill
3. Sodom - Sodomy & Lust
4. Heathen - Goblin's Blade
5. Razor - Enforcer
6. Razor - Road Gunner
7. Torture Squad - World of Misery
8. Annihilator - Human Insecticide
9. Destruction - Bestial Invasion
10. Overkill - Coma

Dargon, get on Soulseek. I need to get that Hypnosia album off of you.

NP: Pagan War Machine - Whatever track 1 is on their demo

I can't remeber all good bands! I have to save some for when people want more.

Nice choice of songs RCA :thumb:

RCA 02-06-2005 12:53 PM

Thanks man!

Guess who has the new Overkill? Me. It's got about 4 good songs, the rest are full of non-catchy groove. The song "Old School" is VERY punk influenced, but I can't help but love it.

"Here's to the old school, didn't matter if you looked cool. We drank some beers and broke some heads, we never gave a shit. We climbed every mountain, stormed every city, they said that this would never last, we never gave a fuck!"

Now if that doesn't kick ass, I don't know what does.

Thanks metal militia :thumb: I'll get those two and then probably try and listen to samples of their other stuff to see whether it's worth getting.

NP: Slayer - New Faith (don't hit me, I just haven't heard it in, well a long time :p)

When that comes out, it's definite purchase.

Oh, I was being serious about the title of that new Slayer album, Songs of Harmony and Devotion, I was hoping it would have a more blasphemous title but as long as it's good thrash and not that drop D garbage I'm listening to now :naughty: I'll overlook the title.

RCA 02-06-2005 01:41 PM

You were being serious?

If Slayer releases another God Hates or *gasp* another Diabolus, I'm disowning them. Especially if it's released under that album title. This better be Seasons In The Abyss Part II!

metal-militia 02-06-2005 01:51 PM

I don't really like any Slayer release after Seasons in the Abyss, so i probably wont get the new album. I'll wait on Overkills though, download a few tracks and see what i think first.

Whats South of Heaven like? I've only got a couple of songs off it and i didnt like them much, but apparently its very good.

South of Heaven features Slayer's best written songs IMO. Some of it is alot slower than the Show No Mercy - Reign In Blood era, but there are a few fast songs on there. Definately worth a purchase.

metal-militia 02-06-2005 02:39 PM

A lot slower? :(

I might get it, but its way down my want list

RCA 02-06-2005 02:51 PM
A lot slower? :(

Not alot slower, but slower by Slayer's standards.

...Whoa, tongue twitt...tongue twisl..tongue twister. :upset:

metal-militia 02-06-2005 02:54 PM

Slower = :upset:

I prefer Slayer at their chaoticly fast, best :)

Where did you get the new Overkill from? Is there a site to get some sample tracks or something?

RCA 02-06-2005 03:09 PM

I downloaded it off of Soulseek :)

If you can access my files, grab it from me.

metal-militia 02-06-2005 03:12 PM

I've tried before and i cant, nor lots of other people's files.

/curses router

RCA 02-06-2005 03:16 PM

Yeah, routers suck sometimes. Don't worry though, new Overkill isn't outstanding. Hell, at times it downright sucks, but it has about 4 songs that make it a worthy addition to their legacy of great albums. I think I'll review it when it's actually released.

metal-militia 02-06-2005 03:27 PM

STOP REVIEWING STUFF! please! i cant rep you until i rep other people, and other people suck!

RCA 02-06-2005 03:30 PM
STOP REVIEWING STUFF! please! i cant rep you until i rep other people, and other people suck!

I'm only going to do about 2 or 3 more reviews over this month, then I'm letting someone else take over reviewing for a while.

ForiegnPenguin 02-06-2005 03:39 PM

Just got Enemy of God. Great album.

metal-militia 02-06-2005 03:42 PM

From what i've heard off of it, it was ok, but nothing special. I'd much rather listen to the older stuff :)

NP: Sadus - Words of War

ForiegnPenguin 02-06-2005 03:52 PM

Its no Pleasure to Kill(which is the only other Kreator I have)

SLATANIC-666 02-06-2005 06:51 PM

Enemy of God is good for the first four songs and then strarts to lose it IMO

NP: absolute silence, i dont wanna wake the folks

RCA 02-06-2005 07:14 PM

Enemy of God was a good album, but it was half-gothenfucked. The title track and World Anarchy PWN the rest of the album.

MAthiAS 02-06-2005 08:40 PM

Is Pleasure to Kill better than Coma of Souls?

/only has CoS

Corporal Compendia 02-06-2005 08:42 PM

^Perhaps... if you really like Coma though, you'd love Pleasure to Kill too.

So I dug up Sacrifice's first album. I love his vocals on this album... I really do. I hope a reunion happens one day. Rob U. really wants it to happen.

ThrashMaster27 02-06-2005 08:56 PM

Nah, I don't think Pleasure to Kill is better than Coma of Souls. Extreme Aggression and Coma of Souls rank on the same spectrum for me.

NP: Razor - Instant Death

RCA 02-06-2005 09:40 PM

I didn't like Coma of Souls as much as PtK because it wasn't as brutal of an album. Coma of Souls had some really great riffs though.*

*A huge fucking fuckload of fucking riffs, and then some.
