Yeah, The Ocean is pretty cool but I can only listen to them once in a while due to the length of their songs.

Yeah, I'm doubting it, but you guys know more about crust than me so maybe someone will know of some band.

A friend of mine asked about "dark punk" and I pointed him to some bands I thought would be ok for a kid mostly into mainstream punk, and he liked everything except the vocals.

The vocals will grow on him.

They're one of the bands I had him check out, since they seem to be one of those gateway bands.

After he listens to Tragedy, tell him to listen to Ekkaia.

I've got a few more bands for him to try, and I'll include Ekkaia. He's one of those kids who thinks "screaming bands suck", and listens to Anti-Flag. So I don't think he'll be into crust anytime soon.
