Any venue where a bunch of kids sweating and dancing is going to smell.

gastery6 06-19-2005 03:50 PM

But what if they all wore some good deoderant???????

What then.
was it just me or did that place smell horribly
No. It's an absolutely disgusting place. Did you go in the bathrooms? My girlfriend said that the toilet was over flowed and she stepped in it in sandle type shoes.

Jessizzle 06-19-2005 04:15 PM

I hate having sweaty kids all dancing up in my space.
Its Yucky.

AIRIC 06-19-2005 04:18 PM

Yeah. Drenched shirts are gross. But I love skanking with a bunch of kids, because you can just put your arm around some random person and be friends with them. Taht's my favorite part about shows. UNITY, AS ONE STAND TOGETHER.

As disgusting as Saratoga Winners can be at times, I still love it. I like to drive around the northeast U.S. to go to different shows, and Winners is still one of my favorite places. Toads Place in New Haven CT is awesome as well. As far as the smell, it might have something to do with the large landfill that is located about a mile down the road. There is a huge methane torch that blows off excess gas and makes the area around the club smell like sulfur. On certin nights, where the wind is blowing just right, the stench will make it into the place. Other than that, I think it smells like any other place with a bunch of sweaty people would.

im sure this has been asked...but there are 27 pages and im too lazy to go through...but does anyone have the bandits album they could send to me or post online somewhere since the links on their site to download it dont work?

Henrik 06-21-2005 06:34 AM

Their is a new video for download on punkrockvids.com new catch playing 9mm And A 3 Piece Suit. An okay performance by the musicians but I really don't like the lead singer. And the bassist looks funny.

You're welcome.

Edit: Ugh, I watched the new Catch 22 playing 9mm and a 3 piece suit and it just annoyed me. I mean, musically, it sounds decent considering it's live, but I wish they'd quit playing Tomas's songs. They need to get known for their own material.

3qtzDrunk 06-21-2005 08:13 PM

Well, since im bored, and I thought people may find it interesting, my friend was good enough to get me a Victory Records magazine when she went to bamboozle. There were interviews with pretty much every band on the label, and in the Catch 22 interview, the guy asked Kevin the trumpet player about any animosity between Thomas and the remaining Catch 22 members. This is it word for word:

Interviewer: Now, I hate to bring this up, but im curious. Ive heard rumors of bad blood between the current crew (of Catch 22) and Thomas Kalnoky, now of Streetlight, is there truth to that?

Kevin: At the time Tom quit...um...I hate it when pepole say 'he left on good terms,' because as far as im concerned, unless the person is sick or they have a wierd situation, for the most part people dont leave bands on good terms, because if its good terms, they wouldent freakin leave, you know what I mean? It was ****ty when he left and theres a lot of comparisons with the newer lineup to the older lineup and naturally it frustrated a lot of us. I think most of the bad blood was blown out of proportion, i dont really think it was anything 'real deal.' As of right now, to be honest with you, our relationship hasnt been better in five years. Im actually working with his new band doing some booking for them, and some of the guys in our band have talked and sorted some stuff out. It was a tough situation when he left, we were all really hurt by it, but i think for the most part its all bull****.

Unseen2k0 06-21-2005 08:29 PM

That interview is a lot longer. I've read it somewhere before. There were 2 Catch 22 members in that interview.

3qtzDrunk 06-21-2005 08:32 PM

If you find it again, let me know where. There was only that part in the magizane I got, I would like to read the whole thing.

TAND 06-21-2005 08:58 PM

Can anyone recommend a good BOTAR cd, if I can find any. I have heard a lot about them but never actually their music.

Kithkin 06-21-2005 10:43 PM

All there is is a demo

http://skachilles.com/music/botar/

for free because it is out of print.

I already posted that... :(

There is the rest of the interview, nothing else really relates to SM.

Brain Toad 06-22-2005 01:05 AM

I've recently acquired 3 SM bootlegs if anyone wants them on SLSK. Username is Brain Toad I think the skachilles site also has two of them under http://skachilles.com/music/sm/

the-UK-ska-scene 06-22-2005 05:34 AM

I have... 6 complete Streetlight bootlegs at the moment. I have no idea where half of them came from, though. I don't use any torrents or filesharing programs or anything...

I seem to acquire a lot of music on my computer without quite knowing where it came from

There is a pirate ghost haunting your hard drive.

Nick are the bootlegs good quality? If so I are interested.
Nick are the bootlegs good quality? If so I are interested.
I haven't listened yet, but they can't be absolutely horrible, the bitrates are normal and high.

Let's Chop Cats! 06-22-2005 01:55 PM

Awesome, I'm getting on now.

maco 06-22-2005 03:57 PM
They tease it live. So I have heard part.

Original members of Streetlight who still tour with them... I'm pretty sure it's just the two. Tomas, and Jim Conti. But the new members are amazing, no doubt about it :D
Jim's not an original member. He wasn't on the demo. Tomas is the only original member left.

Let's Chop Cats! 06-22-2005 04:13 PM

The quality of those bootlegs is 'ehh'. A lot of volume problems, but still worth listening/listenable.

Harper Only 06-22-2005 05:24 PM

Catch 22 is one of my all time favorite bands. They are probably one of the greatest bands I have seen live.

Unseen2k0 06-22-2005 08:17 PM

Ha, the Smells like Teen Spirit Teaser was great. The quality isn't all too bad, and the video is fun to watch.

lpsoxfan88 06-22-2005 10:16 PM

Muchos thanks to whoever posted the links to the live SM stuff and the BOTAR stuff. Me love you long time.

Yeah that was hilarious. They did something like that last week when I saw them. I can't remember what song though, some hard rock tune.

Brain Toad 06-22-2005 10:36 PM

Freebird maybe? That'd be f'ucking hilarious.

Unseen2k0 06-22-2005 10:48 PM

Well, I know Tomas is a Nirvana fan. In a BOTAR song he says "And KDC, you were much too young, and you changed my life". Kurt Donald Cobain. I'm a loser for knowing that. But I'm a big Nirvana fan.

The point of that is, it isn't surprising he'd pick a Nirvana song to do. But after they stop he said "I've wanted to do that since I was like 12".
