I learned pick style just so I could play Riot.

Riot isn't very hard. I'm a guitarist and its really easy to play on bass.

It isnt. But if you've been playing fingerstyle forever, its hard using a pick.

I found it the other way around, I'm still not very good with my fingers.

I really like Jello with DOA on [I]Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors[/I]. DOA are one of my favourite hardcore bands and with Jello it's such a great mix.

Jello is doing a second album with The Melvins as I just read in the recent AT newsletter.

Sounds interesting, [I]Never Breathe What You Can't See[/I] was not bad although only 8 tracks long. Enchanted Thoughtfist and Plethysmograph were my favourite songs.

Holiday in Cambodia is an awesome song.

It's not their best. From FFFRV I prefer California Uber Alles and Kill The Poor especially.

Yes. Kill the Poor is probably better but i downloaded Holiday in Cambodia before and have listened to that more.

Chemical Warfare and Kill The Poor are my favourites on FFFRV.

Never breath what you can´t see is an awesome album. It´s so bad that i missed them last monday in cologne.

I just went to a Dead Kennedy's how last week. That was the best show I have ever been to. So much energy, so many punks. Jeff Penalty in my opinion is just as good as Jello. He was energetic, political and he didnt need a 3 foot hawk to prove he was who he was. Im not dissing the hawks but I think its ****ing awesome when a band can just look normal and play there ****ing punk rock.

Penalty's whole persona is just a watered-down version of Jello's.

I would go and see DK if the chance came around with or without Jello. While he is a huge part of the band I would still like to see the rest of the core members.

I didn't know they started playing shows again.

Yah. I caught them in Anahiem, 1 or 2 months ago. Offical date for the show was moved, as they didn't give a reason at the door, some fans would scream out "Jello wouldn't do this to us!" I laughed.

Later found out it was cuz of Ray's family.

I agree, Penalty is as good Jello. He won't be able to do the same, but decent. Great show and energy. Sick pit, with sicker fans.

Hell yeah its worth seeing. He sounded kinda like jello but he had as much energy as jello and he was crowd surfing just as jello would do. He was comical. They played all the classics my friend: Kill the Poor, holiday in cambodia, Nazi punks **** off, Chemical Warfare, MTV Get off the air and more..more.. They came out for three encores. They played alot. Jeff Penalty i thought anyways was really good.

I wonder if they will show their faces in the Bay Area...

I don't see how anyone could say Jeff is as good as Jello.

Probably not, mainly because its extreamly hard for me to get to SF where shows are, but if I was able to and it wasn't expensive, I would.

in 02 i belive. they played in Corpus Chrisiti which is only 2 hours away from my house and the place they played out is right in the heart of downtown so it would have been easy to find. but i didnt listen to DK in 02.

in 02 they had Cruz, who is was really horrible, he is the one in the bootleg I have.

Nope, never heard him. Not as many bootlegs of newer stuff as there is old stuff, at least what I can find.

Jeff Penalty and the Dead Kennedys
 

Being a huge DK fan I made my way down to florida to see them play with new vocalist Jeff Penalty of [I]stupid ferrets[/I] fame. They really blew me away, I was expecting penalty to let me down but he sounded painfully similar to Jello.

When they first came out, most of the crowd boo'd him and threw vegetables, but once they actually got into the set everyone seemed to forget that they were supposed to hate him.

Although seeing the original Dead Kennedys would've been a lot better, I figured I'd let everyone know that they're still definately worth checking out.

Klaus is so fu[I]c[/I]king old, and east bay ray looks like McJagger.

He sounds like Jello?

Cool maybe all the people who suck Jello's dick will realize that he's not that great and can be replaced.

He does actually well sound like Jello and i thought he was really good live.

Jello should never have been replaced and the band should have ended when it did. Either way, do they still play the classics?
