^I agree^ Also try an 18" Medium crash and an 18" medium-Thin Crash/18"AAX Stage crash

poppinfresh 03-28-2005 06:32 PM
I need a ride to go with the rest of my cymbals. Right now i have paiste innovations highats, paiste 18 full and fast crashes, and a k custom 14 fast crash. My ride is an aa metal x, but it sounds so out of place. I was thinking of a paiste sig dry crisp ot a k or k custom. Which would fit better in there, and if you can recommend any other rides that would be nice to.
anyone???

bobby__johnny 03-28-2005 07:14 PM

i say try an HHX Stage Ride.

London Prophet 03-28-2005 07:30 PM
your 17" Projection is lower pitched than the 18" medium? thats very strange. everything about that cymbal says it should be higher pitched (Thicker, Smaller, A Customs are Brighter in general)
Projection crashes are medium thin, so they're thinner than the A Medium Crash. I tend to find the A's brighter than the A Customs. Nonetheless I'm thinking of exchanging the 17" A Custom - what would be the best bet.

bobby__johnny 03-28-2005 07:48 PM

ahhh...i was under the influence that Projections were like Rock weights.

Hyper Kid 03-28-2005 11:58 PM

Have yous heard about the K Custom Hybrid Ride?.... i wanna try it!... maybe it's gonna be out at the next NAMM.

Hey, i need new cymbols. I play rock but not hard rock. I have about $110 to spend. If you have any suggestions, i would appreciate it.

bobby__johnny 03-29-2005 03:50 PM

Sabian Pro Performance Pack. Best package for the money.

DruMMeR_BoY14 03-30-2005 03:23 AM

Dam that is one hot piece of metal.

Plan B. 03-30-2005 02:33 PM

Wow, that is hot.

spiritII 03-30-2005 03:27 PM

Wow! I couldn't find it on the Zildjian site.

ZOFO77 03-30-2005 09:19 PM

CrAsH & RiDe

All this Crash and Ride jibber...I'M LOVIN IT! :thumb:

Anyway...I just advanced out of my ZBT's  To some A CUSTOMS...I started witha 18" A CUSTOM crash...and I love it. Then I added a slightly different sound to it by getting the 17" PROJECTION A CUSTOM...

I liked it in the store and it had a different decay. But now I am wondering if I should move that Projection over and add one more cymbal such as another 18" A CUSTOM or maybe a 19".

What would be your take on keeping the two main crashes identical or adding that third crash resulting in three slightly different ones/sounds...?

THOUGHTS PLEASE!

I play on a 5 pieces LUDWIG CS CUSTOM BIRCH w/ a 22" Bass....

Plan B. 03-30-2005 09:33 PM

Personally, when your forking over your own cash for cymbals, I wouldn't want to get the same exact cymbal when you could get a different one, but that's just me. I'd say get the Projection crash first before you make up your mind, you may find that you have to many bright cymbals and want a dark one, or whatever. My tastes can change very drastically.

I did get the Projection crash.....I am now considering adding one more....BUT WHAT?

Parradiddle Pete 03-31-2005 02:48 AM

Hi, I posted many many pages back about a Sabian crash that i could use against my b8 16" crash and a 16" pro sonix china. I'd like it to have an element of trashiness. i play rock and punk/funk. for any other info on my kit theres sum stuff about it in a post called 'MY KIT!?'. I've seen the chad smith signature that sounds amazing but i think it might cost a bomd...any body had any experience or know anything about prices? I'm in england btw

 Thanks

bobby__johnny 03-31-2005 02:37 PM

well, your sonix china should give you some trash....it IS a china after all.....i say go for another crash. maybe an 18" AA Medium or Medium-thin?

Plan B. 03-31-2005 04:10 PM
I did get the Projection crash.....I am now considering adding one more....BUT WHAT?
Oh, you're right. Sorry I miss-read it.

I don't see why adding another big crash like a 19" A Custom would be bad.

italic zero 03-31-2005 07:41 PM

I want a 16" medium or medium thin, darkish crash for prog/modern rock like APC, Porcupine Tree, VAST. Any suggestions?

DespisedIcon689 03-31-2005 10:22 PM

Cymbals for metal music and Zildjian brand only.

Seafroggys 04-01-2005 12:07 AM

Why stick with Zildjian? What if the sound you are looking for is in a Sabian, Paiste, Ufip, Meinl, Wuhan, Istanbul Agop, Istanbul Mehment, Turkish, or Bosphorous line?

Seriously, you're being VERY narrowminded here.

Anyway, for metal, I would suggest A Medium to Rock Crashes, probably 17-20" in size. But if you want to get cheaper cymbals, I would go for the AA Medium to Rock crashes, 17-20", but since you seem to ONLY want Zildjian, go for it.

Or if you want really heavy, get some Paiste 2002 crashes. Oh wait, no, you don't want the best, you just want the name, never mind.

bobby__johnny 04-01-2005 09:34 AM
Cymbals for metal music and Zildjian brand only.
pitch preferance? Budget? particular models?

be specific dude. thats all i ask in this thread.

Does it really matter what brand it is??? I trust Zildjian more than the other brands because Zildjian has been around longer than Sabian and since our school uses Zildjian I play them a lot and I really like the sounds of their cymbals. So why are u people getting all mad just because I like Zildjian? A lot of other people do on these forums...i just don't get why you get all mad? Even famous metal drummers use Zildjian such as Lars Ulrich. Also Steve Gadd the best drummer in 2003 uses Zildjian. I'll pick the cymbals that I like....also Zildjian is one of the best.

to bobby johnny
cymbals that have a loud and quick sound and with lots of durability for hitting hard.

Murd_666 04-01-2005 03:54 PM

I would recommend Sabian AAX Metal, AA Metal-x line for the you probably want but since i don't really knw to much bout zildjian I'd say Z cust. or also look into paiste rudes, AA Rock/ Medium, Meinl Amun mediums, Meinl Raker, Meinl Mb20, A Mediums and rocks....

"Does it realy matter what brand it is?"
No. Which is why it shouldn't matter to you either. Self-pwn. :p
Oh, and since you're provoking argument, many of todays top manufacturers evolved from Zildjian, and since evolution is progress, in theory Sabian is better than Zildjian! How d'you like them apples?
(It's alright, I'm just messing :D)

Anyway, since you asked, I think you should just try out any and all Zildjians you can, but since you hit hard, A's and Z's would be your best bet, larger sizes, i.e. 16" minimum.

Seafroggys 04-01-2005 08:04 PM

I like Zildjians too. I never said anything was wrong with them. Thats all my school has, but....seriously, why stick to them. I saved probably $50 to get my Sabian AA rathern then buying a Zildjian Avedis crash, and they're virtually the same thing.

And I don't really care what famous drummer drums with Zildjian. My favorite drummer played Paiste....do you think I'm gonna get Paiste? Probably not, even though I've considered a 2002 crash.

J0llyhunter 04-01-2005 08:16 PM

yup, i really like paistes, but i wont spend 800 on a pair o' hats, i cant

nzrocker 04-02-2005 06:05 PM

Anyone have an opinion about the 14' K/Z special hats? I've been looking at them because I tried a pair of brilliant finish 13' new beats, which were too bright and trebly for me, they almost drown out my snare. The K/Z's seem to be a lot darker, i want something dark and with a wash that isn't too loud. I'm open to other brands as well.

Oh and i'll probably sound like a brand whore here, but opinions on getting a 17' K custom dark crash as the main and a 19' Avedish Thin crash? I like my cymbals big and pretty low pitched but not too loud, was thinking about the A custom projections but they sound like they'll be too loud.

P.s. the only reason I'm going for zildjians is because most music stores in my country stock mainly zildjians, and i can usually get a bit of a discount on them.

borge 04-03-2005 02:28 AM

i'm looking for a very flashy crash yet fast decay, but im on a budget $500. Any suggestions?

MWDrummer 04-03-2005 01:13 PM

Hey guys, could you suggest a China cymbal that will go well with my current cymbals? I really don't have a limit to my budget for this cymbal. Also, I perfer Zildjian cymbals but I'll try anything that you guys think will go well.

--Current Setup--
14" A Custom Mastersound Hats
16" A Custom Projection Crash
18" Z Custom Medium Crash
20" A Custom Ping Ride
12" A Custom Splash

Thanks

A Custom China 18", or an Oriental China trash of the same size. other sizes could work as well, but the 18" size is the most versatile.

drummer172 04-03-2005 03:05 PM

What do you like better A custom 13" mastersound hi hats. Or K custom 13" hi hats?

Seafroggys 04-03-2005 03:10 PM

Wuhan Chinas!
What do you like better A custom 13" mastersound hi hats. Or K custom 13" hi hats?
The K customs, anyways can some one recommend a Hi-Hat that would be nice washy, with good stick definition but not to crisp such as HHX Hats. Sabian prefered but will try other brands also...

LiQuId_FaRt 04-04-2005 06:50 AM

$$

Crash --> Somewhat like the K custom dark crash... a bit cheaper
Splash --> Definite and clear like the HHX evo... again, a bit cheaper

Thanks.

14" AA Regular hats are a good choice for just about everything...a little darker, try the 14" HHX Groove hats. nice simmer....most likely the next addition to my kit is those hats.

Crash - HHX Studio Crash
Splash - AA Splash
