I thought Live at the Olympus was abit annoying because they miced the drums realy badly.
I also consider rage as more of a pollitical funk metal band.......
This might have been asked but, what company made the "Arm The Homeless" guitar?
The guitar that has the "Arm the Homeless" thing on it is an Ibanez guitar, if I am not mistaken.

My favorite guitar that Tom has is the black Fender Telecaster that he plays the songs in Drop D in. That guitar is awesome. And if any of you have the self titled DVD, you can see in the Killing in the Name live performance the silver Telecaster. That thing looks awesome.

timskold214 04-10-2005 05:44 PM

Ahhh... RATM awesome rebel band :thumb: Also easily one of my fav. bands.

Endless Obsession 04-10-2005 06:55 PM

Random but.

I think its hilarious how they list Tim Commerfords name differently in every album.

Tim Bob
YTim K
Timmy C

I dont know why i just find that so funny.500th post :chug:

It was originally a custom, and he pretty much pulled it apart and re-did it from scratch. If my memory serves correctly.

Although Ibanez did make him a copy of it for back-up purposes.

EDIT: pigonthewing: I think he recorded the Self-titled audioslave album with it, but then retired it. (Although he did use on of the back-ups of it in concert once or twice)

My personal favourite Morello guitar is the one he uses on the LATGOA DVD for Guerrilla Radio. Not sure of the make but I believe it has the Kenyan flag design on it.

Actually he used the one with the Kenyan flag design for "How I Could Just Kill A Man" with Cypress Hill. He used a large hollow body for Guerrilla Radio.

What about the other cool guitar that he uses when he plays Clam Like A Bomb on the Grand Olympic DVD? Anyone else think that one looks cool?

Werny 04-13-2005 08:19 AM

On a school camp, I was aimlessly walking around in the hall... and then I had a sudden urge to jump. Jump, and scream HOLY SHIAT!!! Jump and scream ROCK DIS MUTHAFUKKA!!!

I then went to one of my friends "man... what was that riff!" and he says "Know Your Enemy by RATM... you haven't heard it before?"

Went home.. downloaded song, and after about 3 listens it became extremely bland.

LAN, a few months later. "Oh come on, they're not bad. I'll get em". I got all studio albums except for Battle For L.A.

Listened to a few songs from self-titled. Same blandness.

Listened to Evil Empire. My mind was blown. One of the most excellent albums ever.

Now self-titled has grown a tad, and I enjoy them much more. Evil Empire can't be beat for fun and anger.

Thor 04-13-2005 02:51 PM
Listened to a few songs from self-titled. Same blandness.
You blasphemer! How can you say that about the self titled?! That was undoubtedly the best RATM record, and possibly the best record of the 90s.

Endless Obsession 04-13-2005 03:31 PM

Meh he didn't exactly bad mouth it, and the rest of his post was very respectable to the band.

And that may not have been the best record to come out in the 90's, though I do belive it was the most original.

36Dritzlfists 04-13-2005 08:10 PM

I really wish Rage would get back together. I do miss their political messages, especially in a time when our politicians are soo full of shxt. America needs to hear the truth from Zach and Tom. Nowadays there are soo few bands that talk about the social and political issues.

Darkness 04-13-2005 08:17 PM

^ Yeah right... the mainstream is all about singing about politics now... look at Green Day. Though they will never be as radical as ratm was, at least their bring slight attention into politics..

I agree I mean at the very least I wished that Audioslave would have done somthing political, one of my dissopointments with the band.

But there are plenty of bands that talk about political issues, you just need to open up to Punk Rock (not that pop punk shit on the radio, I mean the real shit).

And eh I get the impression that Green Day put out that political cd just to "be a cool punk band and hate Bush" I don't think their hearts were truly into it. If they were they why no political message for so long when countless other punk bands have been fighting the good fight.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-13-2005 09:59 PM
I think that their S/T was easily their best album as well...I know a lot of Rage fans think Evil Empire is their best work, but personally I'd say that's their weakest studio album of original material. I don't know about Rage being all that original...they were influential, and there's no two ways about that, but they got quite a lot of their act from Public Enemy in my opinion, albeit with heavier riffs, which the emphasis was normally on.
I agree about the S/T being the best, and Evil Empire being the weakest. From song to song, it's very incosistent. I really don't like Zack's vocals on that album. At some points, it sounds to me like he is trying to sing(lol) lower than he should. Also, it's definitely their rawest album musically. Morello's riffs are choppy, and he uses way too many effects, IMO.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-13-2005 10:29 PM
Actually he bought it at a pawn shop in Toronto, Ontario. :thumb:
No, that was the creamy and black coloured guitar that he used on Calm Like A Bomb live.
From song to song, it's very incosistent. Morello's riffs are choppy, and he uses way too many effects, IMO.
That's how i view The Battle Of Los Angeles. I find that as Rage progressed in their career, Morello used more and more effects. Comparing the more heavily effected BOLA and the more straight forward s/t shows this.

Werny 04-13-2005 11:01 PM
You blasphemer! How can you say that about the self titled?! That was undoubtedly the best RATM record, and possibly the best record of the 90s.
It has grown on me to quite a large extent. I don't like Zack's screams though, especially the ones in Freedom.

But Evil Empire is a masterpiece, it is one of about 3 albums I have that doesn't have one weak track on it. Revolver and Down Rodeo are the best.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-13-2005 11:41 PM
You blasphemer! How can you say that about the self titled?! That was undoubtedly the best RATM record, and possibly the best record of the 90s.
It's blasphemist, and yes, he sure is. :p

And Vio-lence, about how you think Morello used more and more effects, I think the same thing, however on BoLA, I think he refined his riffs more. On Evil Empire they're just kind of, well like I said, choppy. I am finding it hard to explain what I am trying to say, but I hope you know what I mean.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-14-2005 12:53 AM

I think i get what your saying. Snakecharmer and Year of Tha Boomerang are quite choppy in parts.

Werny 04-14-2005 01:34 AM
It's blasphemist, and yes, he sure is. :p
I try! I TRY!!

There's just something more.... angry, heavy, spastic about Evil Empire. Zack's rapping sounds more proper, much more angry. The riffs are cleaner, there's much more variation in sound, and the drumming is CLASS.

I've made it my goal to get BOL.A and the Olympic DVD.

Listening to Down Rodeo now. Wow...

Six Foot Revolver 04-14-2005 01:36 AM

I dislike evil empire alot

Apocalyptic Raids 04-14-2005 01:39 AM

I love it, i rate only just behind self titled.

I would also like to ask this, is there anyone in here who actually likes Audioslave? I'm not asking if you think they are better than RATM, but I am just wondering if you think they are a good band. I just recently got into the, and actually I am listening to them right now.

Endless Obsession 04-14-2005 03:21 PM
I dislike evil empire alot
Thats what i first thought when i bought it. Then i kept listening to it now i love it. Bulls on parade, vietnow, revolver, people of the sun, tire me, down rodeo they are all sweet.

U should give it another try.

Beautiful guitar=P, ive got all of the DVDs and i really like the self titled one coz its got lots of different performances from all over the world and of course it has videos.

I like audioslave got their first album which is good. cant wait for their secong one tho, i read that its supposed to be really really good. Can't remember the name of it tho... what does everyone else think...
I think that their new album could be really good, so long as they cut out the excess sub-standard songs which they had on their last album.
They siad in the interview i read that they were tryin to avoid "filler Tracks"
i hope so. Should be good.

Darkness 04-14-2005 04:19 PM

Make sure you guys go vote for Morello in the new poll..

Werny 04-14-2005 09:14 PM

[audioslave rant]I don't know about the other fellows, but Cornell has become a total Pop star. I read his interview on the Kerrang! website, and he won't shut up aout how it's so positive and it'll be "one of the greatest rock records ever". I'm sure it'll be great, retard. When bands say that it usually means that they've come up with a bunch of songs that they've written JUST to get people's attention and become big rock stars. What happened to the publicity hating Cornell we used to know and love?[/audioslave rant]

Has anyone downloaded this?

http://sameoldtrip.com/rageagainstthemachine.htm

Their first offical performance.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-14-2005 09:46 PM
