bump, I'm just getting into Judas Priest and I don't want to let this thread die. So what album should I get next? Is Ram It Down good?

Ram It Down is ok. You only have Sin After Sin then? If that's the case then I'd suggest Stained Class or Painkiller as your next purchase. Painkiller is the more heavier of the albums and has some classic solos. Also, has anybody seen Rising In The East yet? Looks like a pretty decent set list. |
go with painkiller. The title track alone is worth the album.
|
Would someone recommend me a good Priest album also? I have Painkiller, and Angel Of Retribution.
|
Indeed. I never did much like Dave Holland. He can keep a beat and all, but he doesn't have an edge like the other two.
I'm quite sure he meant the song.
hahah yah i did mean the song. But as for the singer, i like him |
if you like painkiller a lot, I'd check out Defenders of the Faith. It has classics like Freewheel Burning and the Sentinel.

Alright. Thanks. |
Ill get Stained Class because I am really liking there earlier stuff. I havnt actually heard British Steel but I heard it was much more commercial than there usual stuff. Do you guys reckon they sold out?

I could have sworn I had that album. I lost it or something. |

there was awhile where they did get a bit commercial. Preist has always been a band that made albums after a trend. Turbo was their response to glam metal. As they saw some bands get heavier and faster, they made their sound like that. Im not complaining, but they did seem to follow the crowd a bit in the 80's. I wouldn't say they "sold out" though. |

I don't get why people like Freewheel Burning so much. I like Rock Hard Ride Free, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll and Jawbreaker a lot more. The Sentinel is quite possibly my favourite Priest song of them all. |

My friend just told me that the singer of Judas Priest is gay. I dont no but i think he just hates them or is he really gay?
|
Yes, he actually is gay
|

Bah, too much filler. Rock Hard, Ride Free, and the Sentinel are the only really good tracks on Defenders. And don't even mention Point of Entry or Turbo. :cringe: |
I dunno, I would never consider Some Heads Are Gonna Roll to be a filler song.
And why did they never release Heart of a Lion on Turbo? |

I never saw Turbo as a response to Glam, more a response to American Hair Metal I think, with a goodly amount of 80's de riguer electro effects. Quite possibly the worst metal album of all time. Parental Guidance is my suggestion as the worst Priest track ever.. Truly ballsuck mungus  |
On the topic of Halford's sexuality, is he gay or bi? Just curious.
|
Does it really matter?
I'm not sure myself, but I think it's not really a reflection on anything the man has produced, musicwise. |

I think he is gay but I'm not absolutely sure.
Does it really matter? I'm not sure myself, but I think it's not really a reflection on anything the man has produced, musicwise.
Tr00 dat. |
/wearing Painkiller shirt now
On the topic of Halford's sexuality, is he gay or bi? Just curious.
He's 100%, absolutely, not sure. Perhaps he just loves to love... and being straight or gay cuts the potential for lurve down by 50%..... Edit - anyone else got their suggestions for the worst Priest track of all time? |
Easily Parental Guidance. Though Live Bites and Turbo Lover are a bit... irritating.
|
Yay! Our minds are as one!
Eat Me Alive sucks major balls too |
We shall form the Judas Priest overmind soon enough.
Just a little more time... |
Indeed so it will come to pass...
/laughs evilly edit - my avatar with Santa Hat didn't work when I tried to upload it /is no longer laughing evilly :-( |
love priest cant get enough Living After Midnight is my favorite all the way
|
Hang on, I'll try changing your avatar.
And yeah, Living is one of the better songs on BS. |

Just a little more time...
No fair, you got the 666 post in a Priest thread ;) I'm obsessed with painkiller right now, can't belive how long he holds the scream at the end. |
I thought Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy Days sucked pretty hard too.
Turbo isn't that bad once you give it a few listens. It does grate quite a bit, but I'd listen to it over Point of Entry and Rocka Rolla. |

I'm sure in some way this displaying my power metal ineptitute. Worst Priest track I've heard has to be Turbo Lover. I was not happy when they played that live. |
Hang on, I'll try changing your avatar.
And yeah, Living is one of the better songs on BS.
Cheers J! Ah, the power of Mod-ship.... Actually, I don't like much off British Steel - it always seemed so unoriginal after their previous albums. Very commercialised. I suppose tho', that I ought to bear in mind that professional bands do have to make money - it's their job, so I shouldn't be too critical. |
To heavyriva I never meant to judge him on his sexuality or say it would affect his music, I'm not like that. I was just merely curious.
|
Actually, I don't like much off British Steel - it always seemed so unoriginal after their previous albums. Very commercialised.
It's the same with me. I did used to like British Steel quite a lot, but there's nothing special on it. Where's the falsetto!? Grinder is probably my fave track off BS. |
The only thing that makes me smile about Rob's sexual orientation is that it took us all so long to figure it out!
Jeez, I've got a book about Heavy Metal (ages old ) and there's loads of pics of Priest in it, and in all of them Rob looks as camp as Christmas! You know, funny little leather biker cap with chain on peak, leather waistcoat with nothing on underneath it, leather trousers tight as you like, earring, S&M -style studded collars and stuff. In retrospect, it couldn't have been more obvious if he'd worn a huge badge with "I AM GAY!" written on it. I was a bit slow in those days...:upset: |
Yeah, it's quite funny.
There was, or still might be a video on the Priest website of them playing The Hellion/Electric Eye live. Halford looks too gay for words on it... he even goes limp wristed at one point. Made me laugh. |
Have you seen the video of them on the UK TV show "The Old Grey Whistle Test" from 1976? (long shot, I know)
Early days I know, but Rob's wearing a purple velvet outfit with like huge baggy cuffs (like goth chicks often wear). And he looks more camp than a row of pink tents. The signs were there....... |
heh, good timing, iw as just listening to breaking the law.
|
teh bumps
Has anyone got Rising In The East yet? |
Haven't seen it in any shops, to be honest. I've been keeping one eye out for it, also.
