im dumbfounded. i wasnt expecting this ...(im watching "mountain stage") these guys started out with a nice clawhammer banjo melody, and then the drums set up a heavy rock beat. the guitars and mandolin are playing rock rhythm with syncopation and everything, the guitarist playing a django 12-string guitar. violin is playing lead guitar solos. WOW! BASS SOLO! in bluegrass? *smacks self* wow. |
Broken Social Scene - Almost Crimes (Radio Kills Remix)
|
the mammals - house carpenter.
the banjo and mandolin are playing a coupled fugue sort of thing to start out. and in D minor! this band is rocking my socks. now come the folk vocals, and they rock...then the bass goes all rockabilly and the drums play a punk beat, all the while the mandolin has the same minor thing going on, the banjo slips into this alternating chording solo and the punk beat rocks on, bass gets louder. speed picking up. banjo tapping solo. need i say more? |
Fishbone - "Ma and Pa"
Man, they make me wish I could dance. Truth and Soul is one of the greatest dance/funk/ska records ever |
Flaming Lips - Vaseline.
The song is called "She don't use Jelly" :) |
YES i NEED SAY MORE... there was just a slap bass solo coupled with the mandolin while the banjo went up and is playing harmonic triplets.
 sorry, but this band is AWESOME! |
