TAND 05-28-2005 04:07 PM

yeah.. most of the other bands are crap though. cause i listened to them at purevolume and they were mostly crap punk and some other stuff.

IFlogMyMolly16 05-28-2005 04:07 PM

I still haven't figured out if I'm going or not and it's in like 3 days

TAND 05-28-2005 04:09 PM

haha. yeah i got umm somewhere around 20 days to decide.

SnazzJazz 05-28-2005 05:21 PM

I LOVE Streetlight Manifesto. From the first time I ever heard Everything Went Numb i was hooked. It's just not how good it is, its the feeling that goes with it. I'm so jealoous of all of you having the option of going to concerts. I HATE HAWAII! The only thing I wish of them is that they make another album. I need to have more of this stuff!~

tbone1123 05-28-2005 05:30 PM

well, ive never orderd anything off their site but they are very good, in my opinion everything went numb's got nothing on keasbey nights

cheap_sex 05-29-2005 08:05 AM

they printed so few cds because they were all hand made and they coudlnt keep up with the demands, i own one

June 15th...

Was your show canceled like ours? I was so ready to go, when all of a sudden I got a phone call from the booking agent from the venue telling me to tell eveyone I knew that it was canceled... Arghh!!!

I really like their music, favorite song is Point/Counterpoint. Though I don't have high expectations for Keasbey Nights II because I think that the Catch 22 version could not be improved upon. And if it can be, not very humanly possible.

I did go to the Slackers on saturday though... the best sounding live band I have ever heard in my life. That is ranging from metal, to ska, to jazz, and to classical.

Best Ever...

Kithkin 05-31-2005 02:20 AM

Going tomorrow.

I have more fun at Slackers/Toasters/Pietasters shows because the crowd is better. But I don't listen to those bands much unless a show is coming up.

The Catch 22 versions of songs could easily be improved upon. Thomas is a far better guitarist than he used to be, and the horn section is better. The horn parts for Catch 22 sound good but are very simplistic.

Also, if you don't think they can be improved listen to Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution's Dear Sergio and Catch 22's Dear Sergio. There is a huge difference.

albert_bass 05-31-2005 02:33 AM

I still preffer the C22 version. The other is better technically but the original is awesome.

Kithkin 05-31-2005 02:53 AM

The song never felt complete before. Now it does with the extra verse.

Other than the new verse and strings (and the acoustic bass and guitar) I don't think anything is different on the BOTAR version. But it still makes a huge difference.

Let's Chop Cats! 05-31-2005 12:22 PM

While SLM if more talented Keasby Nights holds a significant value to me, so I like that album more.

sketchyjoe 05-31-2005 12:32 PM

SLM are overrated.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 05-31-2005 12:33 PM

decent from what i've heard, some of the songs so8und great

albert_bass 05-31-2005 12:40 PM
SLM are overrated.
No way. They're the most talented 3rd wave band. They get that. Besides I know more people who don't like them that people who like them.

Really, the reason that I don't think KB could be improved is because SM has a different sound from Catch22. Not totally different where their remakes would be ****, but just different. I really like listening totheir originals anyways.

With the KB2 postpones and everything its kinda pissing me off too. Sometimes I'm thinking that they keep setting the date back so more people are thinking, "Man I really wanna listen to this... Its gonna be awesome when I can finally get it." When in reality it won't be much different. Seriously, if Thomas is so much of a better guitarist he should be writing other new, better, more intricate stuff. Not covering stuff that you can't change. Whats the point of a cover if you change it and make it sound better. If you cover somthing, the point is to play a song as best and close as you can compared to the original preforming band.

well... [/rant]

Cheers.

What? Ever listened to the Specials?

Yeah, anyway, I haven't read the thread. The Manifesto rules. Move along.

albert_bass 05-31-2005 03:22 PM

The point of a cover is not playing exactly like the best one. Then you'd have 2 songs that would be the same, and THAT would be stupid not the other way.

When you're playing a song the best you can to make it sound as the original it's because you're playing alone, not covering something.

Most talented =/= Best.

They are good but no way is their album the fourth best punk album ever which the users of this forum seem to think it is.

Henrik 06-03-2005 03:04 AM

I think it is. actually I can't find an album that I enjoy more than Everything went numb.

Kithkin 06-03-2005 04:59 AM

The recording quality on Keasby Nights isn't exactly great. That alone leaves a lot of room for improvement.

I don't think they are simply covering all the songs on Keasby Nights. I'm simply saying that if they did, the album would have better versions of the songs.

They keep pushing it back because they keep loosing band members.

Covers that sound like the original are talentless bar band covers. The point of a cover is to reinterpret it.

Arucard 06-03-2005 05:07 AM

I am looking foward to Keasbey 2, and knowing Streetlight, they spend an incredible amount of time on it, and come out with a good, orignial record.

My 2 cents.

Yeah that's true. But most talented in my opinion means they're all talented musicians and also write awesome songs. There's not a bad song on the album and everything fits perfectly from the drums to the bass and the horns. Everything. That's why they're talented and the best 3rd wave band in my opinion.

sketchyjoe 06-03-2005 08:13 AM

They're one of the best but I prefer The Rudiments.

albert_bass 06-03-2005 09:55 AM

Never heard them, recommend an album.

sketchyjoe 06-03-2005 10:13 AM

Circle Our Empire. I've got it on Soulseek.

Unseen2k0 06-03-2005 10:49 AM

One thing all of you guys need to get is there won't be a KN2. Thomas posted that on their website awhile ago.

circlesandsquares 06-03-2005 01:18 PM

Possibly the best ska band ever. Defintaly my favorite one. Are they really making a new cd called Keasby Nights Vol. 2? Thats what I saw on amazon.com.
