to be honest, Pearls cymbals wont be much better than what came with your kit.
if your recording, maybe save up a bit, and get an AAX Stage ride. it wont be cheap, but it would certainly be worth it if your heavy into recording. |
really :s cheers for the advice...

Yeah my hihat cymbals right now are really crappy cx 300 pearl hi hats. I was wondering if anyone knew any good hi hat cymbals for intermediate players (3.2 years) with a price range of up to 200$ i am in a band and we do record, so im looking for something that will last me a long time thanks |
^^in your other post you talked about 120$... but if you want to go up to 200$ then you can go with the AAX stage hats.
http://www.music123.com/Sabian-AAX-Stage-Hats-i29572.music the 14'' are 217$ though. |
well, i want examples for both. i got the stage hihats bookmarked, so does anyone know of anyones that go under 120?
|
maybe you can get some B8 pro or Xs20 with 120$.
|
^^Completly off topic, but the two people above have the greatest avatars. Abbey Road is my favorite album, and that is my favorite scene from Family Guy.
"HHhhhhh.....ahhhhh..........hhhhhh......owwwww.......hhhhhhhh....ohhhhhh...." Repeat for about two minutes. Yeah, intermediate cymbals are kinda hard to come by. Paiste 802s maybe. Or you can just skip that stage and go straight to pro level second hand. |
hmmm you got any good recommendations for pro hats? any price
sheeeE Ahhhhh sheeEE AHHhh |

HHX manhattan soudns very good. I tried all the kit (crash, hats and ride) at my local music store, and the ride sound very sweeeet.

Crash!
Hey all, looking for a crash/crashes to compliment a 21' avedis zildjian sweet ride. I'd like my crashes to be more than 16' and not too heavy but i'm open to suggestions. Oh and hi-hats to go with them too? 14' is nice, don't like really like 13's. I usually play a 4 piece and i play a lot of classic rock and some pop/rock if that helps. Cheers guys, keep up the good work.
*See my post yesterday under "Z" Customs thread........ I just changed out my starter Zilds from ZBT's to "A" Customs......... :thumb: I bought the 17" "A" Custom Projection Crash and the 18" "A" Custom Crash....SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! |
what would be a good 18' cymbal that would sound well with a 16' AAX stage crash and some 14' AAX metal hihats (havent got the hats yet, but its what im looking at...
the stager is bright i guess... and i was looking at an 18' dark crash AAX... would the dark contrast the bright too much?... and what would be a good ride that has a fairly strong bell but also a crashy type sound when playing the "rim" area |
for the crash, an AA Medium Crash would complement the Stage nicely.
as for the ride, i'd say an HHX groove ride. |
im looking for a versatile crash, to would make a good pair with my 16" Sabian Thin Crash. Maybe i'd go in 18", but i can be 16 too. I play rock and metal.

Looking for everything...hi-hat, crashes, rides, splashes, and chinas that would be for music rock or metal. Something sturdy that will last long and produces a good heavy sound. (NOT Z Cutsoms those i've heard have a bad sound)
|
look into AA rock
|
Im about to start playing with my church band. I need a crash that would sound nicely without hitting it hard. Somewhere along the "thin" lines.
|
What is the Sabian equivalent of Zildjian A Customs?
|
^^^ the AAX series.
no1bettr, try some zildjian Avedis thin crashes or maybe A custom fast crashes. |
looking for new hats perferabily 14" and paiste
dark sound. compliment to 10" dimensions power splash. up to about $200-$250 USD. I was thinking about dimensions Med. heavy crunch hats so any info on those would be great |
spike, the medium heavy crunch hats are suposedly quite dark and rich with a very full sound. if thats what your looking for then go for it. you coul also try the dimentions light hihat. they are quite dark and warm too.

AA and Hand Hammered Extra-Thin Crashes. Perfect for a church setting. |
I'm looking for a crash to complement my Zildjian 18" A medium thin crash. Any suggestions?
|
I'm looking to incorporate a china into my set, nothing pricy or fancy just something good to start on, heard a 14" wuhan is good all the way up to 18" zildjians
also maybe a cheap splash to put in just for some fun effects, what do you guys suggest again nothing real pricy (and yes, congrats to me... i learned how to use the cymbal finder :) ) |
hey nzrocker, how do you like that avedis zildjian sweet ride, i've been thinkin' of buying one?
I really really like it. I played it in a pop/rock band and it doesn't sound too out of place, but it REALLY shines when you're playing garage rocky stuff. I played it today with a band, think hives-ish music, and i barely needed a crash. Beautiful dark bell tone and a great crash sound for when you need it. |
do u guys know of any versatile hats for most types of music especially rock, pop, fusion, funk and would not sound out of place when playing jazz? preferably some nice crisps when playing funk and a fairly amount of sizzle when playing jazz.
thanks a lot! |
I would suggest something like Sabian AA, they have a really nice sound.
But try out anykind of cymbal before you buy it incase it isn't the sound for you. Sabian's site has a soundcheck for their cymbals, it's not brilliant but it gives you a decent idea of how the cymbals sound. |

I got 12'' and it sounds like some pro chinas. Its really funky. And for the splash, you can also look into wuhan. |
