Do you have high selfesteem?

Paranoidd 11-27-2004 12:46 PM
Do you have high selfesteem?
Depends on the situation and "high" compared to whom?

LightningCow 11-27-2004 12:50 PM

the situation being you walking through the mall or some other public or relatively public area and feeling awesome about yourself. If there was a group of cute girls off to the side talking about the latest fad of the moment, would you be able to walk up to them confidently and strike up a conversation with the prettiest of the bunch and end up with her phone number?

/all hypothetical

Oh. Sometimes. It really varies depending on the mood I'm in.

Not sure. The one I know always tells me to burn things though, I think it's genetic.

LightningCow 11-27-2004 12:59 PM

What instrument will be your focus? Or if I'm missing the point, what will you be studying?
why no girlfriend??
I don't find many girls with similar interests that I am compatible with. I'm not that picky, but meh. I'm also a shy, so..

Audio engineering is more geared towards studio work...learned about gear, software and hardware, mic types and placement, recording techniques, etc, etc. I'd like to work in and eventually own a studio somewhere down the road, and do producing and engineering. I play (horribly) guitar, piano, and drums, and I can read (but not sight read while I'm playing) and write music, I'm just horrible with theory...understand what notes go together and such. I have to write everything by ear. I'm trying to learn theory, but it frustrates me, I've never been able to do it, and I've tried for years.

Do you compose music? Do you use any composition software?

Or do you only focus on recording stuff?

Yes I'm familiar with Reason, Cubase, fruityloops, cool edit, sound forge, etc, etc. I've been playing with music on my computer for years, thats how I got interested in the whole production side of things...I find it really enjoyable. I used to be a house/breaks DJ too, so I did alot of electronic music which is really enjoyable. Everything is a learning experience.

I was talking stuff more along the lines of Sybellius and Noteworthy composer, stuff like that, where you lay out all the sheetmusic and get to see how stuff sounds...

Ah. No, I've never done anything like that.

With reason (even fruityloops) you can lay things down note by note, though. That's how I had to do it, because I don't have a little midi keyboard.

Papa Shank 11-27-2004 01:10 PM

argh, I can't wait until I get off work for another few days, I've been coming up with some decent sounding stuff, but I've totally forgot to write it down...hopefully it'll come back to me, unlike my carrier pigeon :upset:
i spent the day using fruityloops and cubase...i gave up with reason though...
Reason is a pain in the arse to do drums in. Getting used to the synths and stuff is essential. You can hook up reason as a slave to CuBase though, so learn it :p

hypocracy hater 11-27-2004 01:14 PM
Drano.
holy shi your right

but fruityloops is so much easier...

it wasn't so difficult really i'm just lazy and easily confused...

for now i think i shall stick to fruityloops...just to get used to the whole computer thing...
