Eh? Joel, you can do whatever you want. :naughty:
Joel gets special privileges. |
And for the record I dig it when bands change their sound. I didn't start listening to them because I thought they would stay the same forever, I wanted to see how they progressed as musicians.
It's kind of funny how easier everything gets when you don't think about subgenres or subcultures or money or anything else besides the actual music. Like I am incredibly general about just everything now- every band that is mentioned in the first four music forums here is now just "rock", and that's it. It makes changes in sound a lot easier to deal with, "Oh, the production is better, they're using more harmonies and slower tempos. More of a pop direction, cool" and then you go on the internet and it's like "selloutz!" |
Yeah, but that assumes you've already heard it.
"What was their first album like?" "Rock!" "What was their second album like?" "Still rock!" Even though both albums could be significantly different. |

The word superfluous is a little superfluous, Joel.
|
Your face is a little superfluous!
|
Nazi mod!
|
Joel has AIDS.

Jon: :-*
Joel: I dig evolving sounds too. One reason I love Thrice so much is every record is a different sound. Granted, it's not like earth shattering chnages, but there's still such a difference that if you heard say a B-side, you'd know what period it was from in the band. But then again, lots of bands should stick to what they're good at, because they try to branch and destroy their careers because it's crap :p |

It's like if a Romantic era composer suddenly decided to write 12 tone. Everyone would yell, "It's not pretty anymore!" and the composer would yell back "I'm not TRYING to be pretty anymore!" |
Vheissu sucked.
But, in my search for how to spell it I found Teppei's side project: http://www.purevolume.com/blackunicorn Nifty. I think Joel would dig, |
How many times has AFI changed their sound now? And they've pulled all of those changes off pretty well, I think.
|
AFI was never good to begin with.
You can make crap look like diamonds, but in the end it's still just crap. Quote me on that, please. I need people to start chronicling my wisdom. |
I knew you were going to be steppin' all up in AFI's grill.
Scarlet Autumn Despair Beautiful Coalmine or whatever your favorite band is has always been awful too. But that really was a great quote....
You can make crap look like diamonds, but in the end it's still just crap.
|
AFI is so good. SO good!
And man I haven't been to purevolume in forever, I totally just remembered that I have one with no music on it: http://www.purevolume.com/joeldiegoandtheednamodes I really need to start writing and recording again. |
Aww, I thought it said nematodes at first. Kalookakoo!!!
Vince, did you listen to Silver Or Lead yet? |
I have never heard any of your music. What is with that?
|
Reeeeely?
http://www.myspace.com/joeldiego It's a little hard to listen to for me now, but it's a lot of fun to make so whatev. |

Well yeah but they were right because Romantic music did suck for the most part ;p AFI has several good CDs Jon. :-\ Or at least, some amazing songs. PS, no, I'm practicing my instrument >:| |

I wish I was a guitar with sideburns.
This music is good stuff. Do you listen to the Bee Gees? It sounds like you do, don't lie. And it's Latin Jazz, Joel. He listens to Latin Jazz! |

Shhh <_<
Whatever, then change it to Bach. or Latin music. Or metal, whatever you listen to and namedrop constantly these days!
Hehe, the sad thing is everyone else namedrops for me and I just go with it :( If I was namedropping what I'm into atm it's SoCo, Jack's Mannequin, Pistolita, Socratic, and The Hush Sound :p Oh and Dream Theater <_< |

I recently decided that my two favorite types of music are Pop music (from all eras) and Jazz (from all eras). Vince if people namedrop for you it's because you've done it so much we already know what to expect! eesh! |

Vince if people namedrop for you it's because you've done it so much we already know what to expect! eesh!
Even like Free Jazz and such? :-\ I don't namedrop though :( I think it's just people like to make fun of me for liking Latin music because I'm Hispanic heh. Jon: On Silver Or Lead, the intro is nice, the part after is subpar, the part after that is good again, and it fluctuates throughout. It jumps between good and meh frequently. Drums are boring throughout though :p |
Yeah, I can't write drums. I know. My drummer doesn't play anything remote similar to that, though. He actual plays a lot like you.
Note that bars 26-33 are considered one part (the verse). Also, 46-53 are one grouping as well. That part at the end sounds really bad on tabit, but it sounds super cool in a real setting. The riff is palm muted, but the chords aren't. We go a bit faster, too. |
The point of post B was to say that you have crappy taste in music. You know? Because you like bands that suck. And unless you've never uttered the phrase "This band is bad", then shut the **** up because you're just taking this self righteous politically correct side because it covers your *** and lets your justify the fact the you like shit.
I never tried to cover myself, I just made it clear that you contradicted yourself and made yourself look like an idiot. Granted this is the internet so it doesn't really matter but I think you should consider carefully before trying to make serious discussion. This also isn't helped by the fact that this was all started because you couldn't take a joke and also the fact that besides TBS and BN, you have hardly any idea of what type of music I enjoy. EDIT: Btw, I think YOUR music taste sucks. |
"YOU JUST DON'T LIKE IT BECAUSE IT'S DIFFERENT THAN THEIR OTHER ALBUM". No ****, dumbass.
This.
|
I never tried to cover myself, I just made it clear that you contradicted yourself and made yourself look like an idiot.
And I'm still trying to make it clear that you made yourself look like an idiot by completely misinterpreting my post in a last ditch effort to insult me in whatever way you could.
Granted this is the internet so it doesn't really matter but I think you should consider carefully before trying to make serious discussion.
A serious discussion like "E-CONTRADICTION OMGG!", amiright? The whole point I made in my second post is that I wasn't making serious discussion, you dolt.
Btw, I think YOUR music taste sucks.
You're an idiot, so my opinion is obviously more valid. And to use your crappy cop-out-whiny-bitch argument against you "BESIDES MAYBE BRIDGE TO SOLACE U DONT NO WAT MY TAYSTES ARE SO U CANT SAY THAT!!!!!!" Even though I doubt you've heard of BTS. Just shut up. |
lol arguing on he internet makes me cool
