Elbow - Newborn EP (5/5) I forgot how amazing this EP was.

Robert Crumb 08-02-2005 05:59 PM
I think people pretty much tune out what I'm digging, for some reason.
Not really. It just takes me a really long time to check it out due to my own agenda. Like I finally got Out to Lunch recently, mostly because I remembered your review and figured it would be a good listen. And it was.

I bought 5th Dimension by the Byrds. It seems ok but I'm not seeing stars and birdies yet.

My New Favorite

I really like this band called Dixie Dirt. They are from Knoxville, Tn. I got to see them for the first time at Bonaroo. They did an amazing job. Their latest CD is pieces of the world. The best song is definatly appetite. It hasn't come out of my cd player in 2 weeks. They have alot of shows coming up. I know they are playing in atlanta soon at the Drunken Unicorn. Everyone should check them out. They are at www.dixiedirtmusic.com or you can hear them on thier myspace page.

Yeah, I imagine it would be.

This afternoon I have listened to and thoroughly enjoyed The Jolly Rogers Demo and Remain in Light.

morrissey 08-03-2005 01:25 AM

I've been listening to the radio lately. It's odd/not very good. So I guess I haven't been digging it.

I have been digging Sufjan Stevens though.

Awesome, What do The Wrens sound like?

Tomahawk 08-03-2005 10:39 AM

I've been listening to Skylarking by XTC. It's wicked cool. I need to check out more of these guys.

Well_Respected_Man 08-03-2005 10:40 AM

XTC is the shat, have you listened to Drums and Wires or The Black Sea?

Tomahawk 08-03-2005 10:43 AM

Nope, I've only got Skylarking and some compilation. My friend who is massively into them, he says Drums and Wires is their best.

morrissey 08-03-2005 10:45 AM

Thom Yorke's concert

The NPC 08-03-2005 05:47 PM

It's been a Modern Lovers kind of day for me.

Zappa 08-03-2005 05:54 PM

Don Cherry - Eternal Rhythm

The last 10 minutes or so of "Part 2" is some of the most passionate playing I've ever heard. If you would like to hear what happens when free jazz and groundbreaking mixtures of international traditional music (before "world music" was super cool and trite) are used to create passionate, honest music, you have to check out this album.

Happymeal 08-03-2005 06:44 PM

^Sounds neat. That piqued my interest.

JonM 08-03-2005 06:59 PM
Thom Yorke's concert
The Bridge School one? I have that.
The Bridge School one? I have that.
Yea, I hate the guys that talk really loudly during Morning Bell though, and attempt to sing along.
