i dont care much for beer
I didn't for a long time. Having said that an accurate statement for me would be "I don't care much for shit beer". For the most part the only beer I enjoy are boutique beers from Belgium and a few from Europe at large. The difference between a good beer and even one considered to be "good" by popular standards is phenomenal. |
I don't care much for my house having no food in it :(
|
Check out my new amp, it'll distract you. It's a 95 Trace Elliot GP12 SMX
|
So, last night was really weird.
I was at my guitarists' house, and we were enjoying a beer and a smoke. I had one beer and one Swisher Sweet. About 10 minutes later, we get up to go inside, and I start feeling shaky as I get in. I start to black out for a minute, fall down, knock over all of his dining room chairs in the process, and find myself just laying on the ground. I felt similar to the way you feel, initially, when you smoke salvia and your world starts to slip away. I have no idea what happened, but I do have a couple bruises and my index finger is sprained. Any ideas as to what might have caused that? It seriously freaked me the f**k out. |
Well based on the information provided and my deductive reasoning I'd say drug use is catching up with you.
Or you're sick. Or it was simply a random occurrence. Or you had some kind of spontaneous blood clot. Or you stood up too fast. See a doctor? |
I'd advise seeing a doctor.
|
Hey Gaslight I found a had written serial number and production date on my amp. It's a bit worn but it appears to say 24/2/95. Either way it says it's a product of GB so I'm sure I'm correct or close.
Damn fools at cashies... |
That's a bonza find then :chug:.
|
Cash Converters for the win(?)!
Haha. They had some seriously nice things there. i.e. a 1976 left-handed American P-Bass for $900. A nice washburn 5er, an as-new stringray, a few nice ibanez's. Some very nice guitars too, can't remember any specifics, but some nice things. And amps... god damn, must be some serial theft in the area :p I'm talking mesa-boogie, vintage peavy nitro heads, marshal full stacks, VOX... |
Most likely a lot of musicians desperate for money.

I'm thinking I just stood up too fast and it was all from a nicotine buzz (I hardly ever smoke, and even less so for cigars), but it definitely could be proof of low blood pressure or something worse. I was just curious if anybody else had experienced something like this. |

It sounds bloody amazing! I found a Squier once at my local pawn shop. ....that's about the best you'll find in the area. I think The Bass Place in the nearby town has a deal with the pawn shops that gives them access to all of the good bass gear before anybody else. |
I'm as sure as I can be that that isn't something that a healthy body does randomly. I don't mean to imply there's anything really wrong with you, but something was cleary wrong at that moment.
There's never any harm in seeing a doctor in situations like this. Cash Converters is a chain of stores in Australia, it's essentially a pawn shop, just a more glammed up, reputable kind of pawn shop. You know, as opposed to those "BUY & SELL, CHEQUES CASHED, NO REFUNDS" kind of joints. |

I still feel a little groggy today, but that doesn't say much as I usually don't really feel awake for another hour or two. Doctor's office opens in 20 minutes, so I'll call them up and have a short convo with the receptionist to see if they think it's worth setting up an appointment. Cash Converters sounds pretty sweet; not gonna lie. |
Yeah, it's still a scum hole full of stolen goods. And if they think they can, will rip you off in a heartbeat. Trading in goods is 99% of the time a ripoff, however if you know your stuff you can almost always strike up a decent deal on buying goods. The less they know about said item, the better. i.e. my british TE amp for 1300.
This particular one just seems to be loaded with all kinds of gear. My singer has gotten both a seinhausser(sp) wireless mic and a twin-neck SG with custom hard case for $400 and $1200 respectively. |
Yeah, cheap things are great but I always give myself this guilt trip picturing some poor bastard having to sell his dearest possessions because of some unfortunate turn of events.
But it's just as likely that whoever owned the things may not have appreciated them or used them, or any number of less guilt inducing things. If it's a bargain, better it go to me than some jerk. Haha nice buys. I despise double necked instruments though. They're just wrong. Imagine a two-headed woman. **** that. |
And maybe even just go talk to a pharmacist? They're usually pretty cool with waltzing in and demanding medical advice. I had some asthma-like symptoms while working a few months ago, got my manager to cover, walked in and got some advice straight off the bat.
The reason that story is funny is because he asked me if I'd ever done any drugs, I said no and he just smiled and said "I was a uni student once, too". |
I'd ****ing well hope he was a uni student at some point if he's a pharmacist .

Well, yeah.. this. But I think he was more getting at the fact that a uni student who hasn't at least tried some kind of drug other than alcohol/cigarettes is pretty rare nowadays, let alone 30 years ago. |
And yes, I know you were kidding.
|
The lady over the phone said it sounded most like low blood sugar (I hadn't eaten since my early lunch at work).
Couple that with a beer and a nicotine buzz, and it's no wonder it all hit so quickly when I stood up. She said that it's probably a one-off thing and not serious enough to warrant a visit, but that I should really monitor my food intake. If it were more serious, it would most likely have presented itself as a problem years ago. It's probably just a milder form of hypoglycemia. Seeing as I usually eat 5-6 meals a day, I wouldn't doubt that my body needs to have relatively high blood sugar all the time. |

 This. |
I've done my national service on the alcohol front but I've never smoked a cigarette.

You aren't missing out. I don't like all the chemical additive stuff anyways. If you're going to smoke anything, you're better off smoking pure tobacco that you've rolled. |
I think I'm going to set up an appointment with the audiologist. Musicians earplugs are only $75/ear. Nice!
|
I can't help but recommend pipe smoking if you enjoy tobacco at all. One of my favourite hobbies, basically.
Goddamn but I'm sore. My story about my accident has earned me free coffee though, so that's something, anyway. |

I used to work at a coffee shop near my current house. I told them, they gave me a free coffee. Then I saw someone I knew, and they bought me a coffee.
