I tried to get 3 friends into Daydream Nation. Didn't work.

Everyone I know who's listened to the Pixies likes them, though.
Not the guys in R&M!
then it's probably because they made a conscious effort not to and focused their energies on liking venga boys or whatever it is they listen to over there

Kage 02-05-2007 08:27 AM

I like them.

Sam 02-05-2007 10:55 AM
One of my friends really likes pop-punk bands like the Queers and Screeching Weasel, so him and I have some common ground in that area. He likes the Pixies too, and some other bands that I like as well. And then there are the guys in my band and such, so they like the type of music I listen to as well.

I'm pretty lucky.
I'd say having friends who don't share your taste in music would make you luckier.

Dr. Jake Destructo 02-05-2007 11:43 AM

The only time I whore stuff to my friends is when they're in my car and I'm bumpin' some Giant Squid are something and then they're like "this is bomb." Then I tell them what it is.

Or when we're at a party and someone is playing Tupac, I'll tell them to **** off, go get cd's from my car, throw the Tupac into the nearest road, and bump some Deftones maybe.
Not the guys in R&M!
u diss opeth when u listen 2 crap lik the pixies

perriwinkle 02-05-2007 01:02 PM

i gave opeth a very fair and unbiased trial

listening to songs recommended by fans

it just so happens that they're not that good

granted i did in fact enjoy some parts of songs

they just take themselves way too seriously

perriwinkle 02-05-2007 01:07 PM

perriwinkle 02-05-2007 01:14 PM

for me its some deftones, and some tupac

to be honest i dont know who i'd choose over who

(i know at least one of those should be "whom", but ive never been clear on that rule..)

but they both have some really good songs, and they both have a lot of songs they've released that i would very quickly skip.

i still enjoy Elite. that's a pretty heavy song

in fact most of white pony i still could enjoy

but as for tupac there are a lot of pretty repetitive songs with okay beats and like those generic r&b female vocal parts

pixiesfanyo 02-05-2007 01:23 PM

if i was at a party that was playing tupac, i'd be at alot of parties.

Zappa 02-05-2007 07:51 PM

Why do people like tupac?

Boilermaker 02-05-2007 07:56 PM

How the **** can you compare the Deftones and Tupac?

apples to oranges guys, apples to oranges.

Eliminator 02-05-2007 07:58 PM

well tupac was tone deaf

Bartender 02-05-2007 07:59 PM

Glitterati 02-05-2007 08:00 PM
Why do people like tupac?
Kayetan 02-05-2007 08:00 PM

Yeah, some time I'm just not in the mood for the citrus taste.
Why do people like tupac?
i ask myself the same thing sometimes

i think it's just because he's a "classic"

class 02-05-2007 08:51 PM

Anyone seen the film Kapò? It's a 1959 Italian (i believe) movie about a Jewish girl in a concentration camp. It was actually very good, though a bit depressing..

cuz when i think holocaust, i usually don't think depressing.

YDload 02-05-2007 09:01 PM

i have considered making a mix CD for my friend with a bunch of different music on it he would PROBABLY like. but i realize that is gay, and he usually ends up telling me about a band he found by himself that is pretty good. same thing with TV shows i like but haven't specifically mentioned.

i trust people to get things at their own pace :)

perriwinkle 02-05-2007 09:02 PM

guys you'll never believe what happened listen im like Sunn0)))

for some reason, i just felt all the pain and hatred in the world, all at once

i felt like jared reading one of my posts or something

like it was so crazy and i just had to write a song about my experience

it's called "this is what i know about burning in hell"

http://members.cox.net/nickingv/hell.mp3

Zappa 02-05-2007 10:35 PM

That was incomplete at best.
cuz when i think holocaust, i usually don't think depressing.
oh...I thought I was the only one...

perriwinkle 02-05-2007 10:45 PM

there were three parts (3 chords to a part) done twice each
one opens, one changes, one closes

if i were to actually make it a song i'd go back and re-record the main guitar part, i screw up like 2-3 times and it should be slower and more clear, and then i'd probably quiet the scream a little bit too

but i wouldnt expand on it

it was made to be a quick joke song anyway but i thought it sounded cool

Robert Crumb 02-05-2007 10:59 PM
Why do people like tupac?
It was a time and a place, my friend. A time and a place.
