20" K Ride.

saars 01-14-2007 12:57 AM

If wash and crashability is what you're looking for, the sweet ride is a good choice. Dunno if you'll like the bell though.

ant_182 01-14-2007 04:45 AM

I don't offten use the bell of my ride that much, so I think I might try and grab this deal later today!

Can you reccomend me a crash please?

I would like a crash in brilliant finish, dark and jazzy yet bright and powerful and would stand up to some rock.Short sustain.Decay?

Drum Phil 01-14-2007 07:36 AM

no doubt on this one: K custom 18" fast crash.. It's the secks.. or maybe 16", but i prefer the 18 inch. It's got everything youa sked for.. I play in a melo death band, and this is what i use as my main crash and i use it for crashing ride patterns. truly amazing cymbal ^^

Drum Phil 01-14-2007 07:41 AM

Ive got the 16.

It really is amazing.

Snarz 01-14-2007 07:56 AM

I'm looking into the 16".I really do like this one does it sound anything like the sample on the zlidjian website?

Drum Phil 01-14-2007 08:03 AM

Mines a little brighter and quicker.

Sounds good at low volumes and when played with mallets.

Snarz 01-14-2007 08:06 AM

Cool I think im gonna call up my local store and see how much that one is.I'm really liking that.

ant_182 01-14-2007 08:19 AM

Just bought the 21" A Sweet ride as it seemed to fit my descriptions. £142 in total, slightly used :) Should be here teusday/wednesday :)

Dark and bright??
kinda contradicted yourself there, no?

kevkev44 01-14-2007 06:55 PM

I'm going to Sam Ash tommorrow, and I'm looking for maybe a crash or two crashes or one crash and one ride. I sometimes play punk, and most of the heavy stuff like Underoath, Drop Dead Gorgeous and such. And I have a pocket of $460, but I also plan on buying new heads. I'm new to cymbals, and I have no clue of what I should be looking for. So please give me good recomendations. I want my crash(es) to be main. Because I'm going to be using those/that crash(es) all the time and I want them/it too be in front and main. Thanks a bunch.

Snarz 01-14-2007 07:06 PM

Alot of people that like to play to Underoath tend to like bigger crashes.

kevkev44 01-14-2007 07:10 PM

Bigger Crashes? What do you mean?

I need to know specific cymbals that I should get.

Snarz 01-14-2007 07:12 PM

I can't tell you what to buy I can just suggest things for you...Best thing to do is to go to the store and play them if you can.But by bigger crashes I mean from 18"-22" as crashes some people like rides as their crashes.

Little Android Man 01-14-2007 07:19 PM

an A sweet ride would do you pretty good. it has a lot of wash, so it can be a great crashable ride if you need a larger crash.

kevkev44 01-14-2007 07:50 PM

I'll look into that. Any other cymbals I should look at and buy? Because I want MAIN cymbal(s) that I'm going to use for a long time and I want my crash(es) to be good for my genre of playing.

Aaron 01-14-2007 10:25 PM

If I were in your situation I'd aim for two 18" or 19" crashes that are alternate pitches and weights; one medium-thin higher pitched model for normal crash work and another heavy-weight low pitched model for that heavy crash sound.

I'd use Mediums for your heavies....I find them plenty loud enough, I can't imagine having anything heavier for a crash.

Drum Phil 01-15-2007 06:00 AM

Something like an 18" K Custom fast crash and an 18" AAXplosion should suffice.

Then maybe a 21" Sweet ride too?

kevkev44 01-15-2007 10:16 AM

Hmmmm, sounds interesting. I'm new to cymbals but I get what you guys are saying.

Snarz 01-15-2007 03:29 PM

Okay I"m looking into some A Customs.

Now I've heard that they tend to crack easy becasue they are thin?Like I think I have good technique. So should I worry about this or should I just go buy it?

And would Zildjian replace a cracked cymbal?

ant_182 01-15-2007 03:37 PM

Zildjian have a 1 year warrenty on all cymbals. Treat your cymbals right and they'll be ok

They wont replace it if the damage is entirely your fault(ie you hit it incorrectly or just to damn hard). If you break a proffesional cymbal like an A custom then either the cymabl is deffective or your playing is.

Snarz 01-15-2007 05:59 PM

Lol ..Well I heard they were really thin. And I think I treat my cymbals fairly well.
