Don't even listen to the words.

Listen to the composition and the music and it really helps you relax.
I don't need help relaxing, it's not relaxing I have trouble with.

"a saucerful of secrets" has a couple of OK songs, several bad ones, one good one, and one truly great one.

the latter 2 being jugband blues and a saucerful of secrets respectively.

snorfledumpkins 06-23-2005 09:02 AM
Yea that sums it up. Atom Heart Mother is pretty good, but doesn't compare with any of their best stuff. And Keep Talking is my least favorite song on Pulse. I haven't heard the studio version though.
Keep Talking is a great song, one of my favorites, i don't even know why, it seems really "cool".

Shazzam 06-23-2005 09:17 AM

Walrus Gumboot 06-23-2005 10:12 AM

"Hey, you know that Pink Floyd song? You know.. the one where there's this guy, and he goes crazy?"*

*Rhetorical question

Plymouth, it's in the southeast.

DeusExMachina 06-24-2005 12:05 PM
Keep Talking is my favorite song on TDB. The lyrics may be meh, but the flow of the song is just so cool.
My favorite song on TBD is probably High Hopes. Just amazing stuff. I'd say it's right up there with some of the best tracks they ever released.

Grant 06-24-2005 12:25 PM

I always liked Marooned and Poles Apart. My favourite on A Momentary Lapse of Reason is easily Sorrow, the rest of that record is trash.

Learning to Fly is good too. I agree with Deus about High Hopes.

guitarded_chuck 06-24-2005 12:53 PM

I like On The Turning Away, one of the only songs post-Wall I like.

I don't know where it is at, but yea, in Michigan. I live in Troy.

Dragon_Prince 06-25-2005 05:02 AM

I finally got DSOTM but on LP, I don't know how you call that EP or something,b ut I'm happy :D

Riva 06-25-2005 09:01 AM

I just saw a documentary on TV discussing the life of Syd Barrett, focussing on his time with Floyd. It was actually very involving, and quite informative for a 1 hour show. They interviewed every member of Floyd, and I can safely say that only Gilmour has aged well. :p

They also showed tons of footage, including the tape a friend made of Syd's first tripping experience.

It was very good, and if you get the chance to watch it, go for it. BBC - Syd Barrett and the Pink Floyd Story.

xAzagthothx 06-25-2005 09:52 AM

i dont know if this has been discussed, but what do you guys think Pink Floyd will play at Live 8?

on the floyd site, Waters says something about how awesome it is for the band to get to play again, if even a few tunes....

so... this is either him saying that even if they only played a few tunes, it would still be awesome, or... theyre only going to play Money and Comfortably Numb.....

i, for one, hope they bust out ANIMALS... THE floyd masterpiece

snorfledumpkins 06-25-2005 01:17 PM

I got a question, why is it, that on meddle, echoes is 23 minutes, while on the best of pink floyd it's like 16 minutes??

That circus music in poles apart creeps me out so much. I hate clowns.

If they played Dogs, I would commit suicide for not being there. But they will most likely not be playing it. I heard they are doing a few songs from DSotM, and most likely Comfortably Numb.

magicbus 06-25-2005 05:09 PM

For anyone who lives in Detroit, I heard Bono talking about Live 8 on the radio, and it sounded like they'll be broadcasting it on 106.7. The concert's on July 2nd, but I'll try to confirm the broadcast.

BludgeonySteve 06-26-2005 03:33 PM

Pink Floyd would actually make the mediocre lineup that they would have otherwise good :)
It's interesting that so many people relax to Dark Side of the Moon, when it's about a person going insane. The plot doesn't seem like something to relax to.
It is? I always thought of the errors of humans.

Care to give your explanation of DSOTM?

BludgeonySteve 06-26-2005 07:07 PM

It's common knowledge that DSOTM is about insanity.

Otherside 06-26-2005 07:09 PM

DSOTM is about life, it's not necesarily restricted to the insanity that is breifly mentioned in one song.

thunderzstruck 06-26-2005 09:05 PM

Well Time, Money, and Us and Them don't seem to be about insanity..
