I really tried hard to like this album BTW.

There's just bands that have already done this but since its by Brand New, no one really seizes to notice that this has been done before and on a much better execution. Two bands that I can think of that has done this so much better is Cursive and earlier Death Cab.

i really like the new Brand New album. I think its better than both of their past releases. It seems like most people around here rag on a band that they like because their new album is different. It was the same way around here when the new TBS came out and as far back as the s/t Blink record came out. It seems to take months around here for people to realize that they actually love said albums, and i am quite confident that it will happen again

I liked both of those albums when they came out. I mean I've put this in my CD player and it just drags like theres an achor in it. I'm really trying hard to like this.

Oh okay, cool. I've been really into Jack's Mannequin lately, I heard their album awhile ago and wasn't too into it but I've been into Piano Rock/Pop Punk lately so it's been a solid dig for me.



On a side note, my radio station has announced their intention to be a pretentious indie rock station, I'm so disappointed, I better get my specialty show next semester or I'll probably leave. Quote from the meeting today "Our goal is to find the most obscure music that is still accessible to mainstream listeners." Stupid indie nerds.

Well I don't mind coming off like a dick as long as the people I'm debating with accept that they act like dicks too. I'm just kinda annoyed that most the people flaming me have this "holier than thou" attitude.

And tbh I listen to more pop punk than most of you so I'm not all about complex and technical music obviously :p



But yeah I've never understood the indie mentality...we're going to play music that sounds the same as everyone else, but no one will have ever heard of it. For instance, I asked if we were adding Brand New to the rotation and this one kid was like "ew, **** that." While in the meantime we play indie bands that have a similar sound...whose names I don't recall :( One of them is The Exit I think. I might be mixing up names though.

The band doesn't sound that way anymore, and their knew sound is completely unremarkable, so I don't like them anymore. Stupid excuse to validate your crappy taste in music, Andy.

I've always disliked it when people say that another person has a 'crappy taste in music'. It might be to you, but it might not be to someone else. If he likes it that's fine, that doesn't mean he has 'crappy taste in music' on the whole, even if he does by your standards.

For the record, I do like the new album they put out, but my favourite is still their first record.

You think I don't know that music tastes are subjective? Someone who likes Jay Z and beyonce have music tastes that are just as valid as my own, for they value things in their music that I do not, and vice versa. There is no clear definition of 'good' taste in music.

That being said, no one ****ing cares. If you can't appreciate creative and well written music over the hackneyed crap that gets put for you to consume, then you have crappy taste in music.
