"I Saw Her Standing There" is pretty awesome. I like the bass playing, and the vocal melodies are catchy. Hot Rats is a really good album. Yeah, some of the early Beatles stuff is really cool. One of my new favorites is I'll Follow the Sun. |
And I Love Her is my favorite.

According to the linear notes for my greatest hits of theirs, Northern Lights Southern Cross is supposed to be really good, and Stage Fright is supposed to be pretty good. I Saw Her Standing There is awesome. I like that, Roll Over Beethoven, and Twist and Shout the best when it comes to really early Beatles songs. np- Yer Blues |
I don't know how early it is, but I'm a fan of Eight Days a Week :)

Ticket To Ride has got to be my favorite Beatles tune. I almost have all of Rubber Soul downloaded and hope to get Revolver very soon...

Rubber Soul is so amazing. It's the first Beatles album that was ever mine, not my parents. I've been listening to it ever since I got it when I was like 11 years old. One of the first cds I ever owned myself:cool: I actually got Revolver a couple weeks after I got Rubber Soul. Both are so amazing. And Your Bird Can Sing is awesome. np- Savoy Truffle I think I've listened to If I Needed Someone 10-12 times over the last two days. I have been listening to The Beatles pretty much nonstop recently, especially Rubber Soul. |

:\ 'bus, do you have Live at Big Pink and their s/t? I do, if you want them. I'll be on Slsk.
Yea I have both of those. In fact, you might have got them from me :p Or at least one of them. I hear a lot about Rock of Ages, but aside from live albums, are any anothers good? /scheme start discussion worked kinda. |

One of my friends has been exposing me to that era of the Beatles lately and its growing on me at an exponentail rate. I take a listen to these albums and basically rediscover them, if you will. I'm more familar with the last few Beatles albums, but I was missin out on some great music. /puts on Rubber Soul |
Rubber Soul is an awesome CD. Drive My Car was a hundred jillion times better live.
|
Haha, Morgan Freeman is in my avatar but like Jon said, I'm switching back to Jimi.
|
Misty Mountain Hop is such a cool song, one of my favorite Zep tunes.
|
Jimi looks alot better.
I was thinking of doing Bonzo for an MX santa, but that didnt turn out so well... |
Why would I ruin Groucho's awesomeness with a santa hat? Santa is fake jezz
|
Oh nevermind, it was Death From Above 1979 before. Now it's Morgan.
EDIT-now its Buddy Miles So many Christmas avatars |
I just got Help for my b-day IMO thats the best 60s pop ever made, period.

I was thinking of doing Bonzo for an MX santa, but that didnt turn out so well...
Nice, Mick Jagger. Man shopping at Wal-Mart for 4 hours blows. Even more so when its with your mom and grandma. But I brought my MP3 and listened to my Stones/Who/Wouldn't It Be Nice play list. I love the song "A Quick One While He's Away" but its so much better on RnR Circus, the version I have drags on too long me thinks. |
Best Pop album ever: Revolver, best vocals ever put on record.
I can't get into the Band at all. Music From Big Pink just...sucks. (IMO) I can't listen to it at all. Every song is horrible, (except "The Weight") I just can't stand the vocals. The music's no good either but the vocals just murder their songs for me. I don't see why everyone is talking about them. :-/ I refuse to get sucked into trend this time around. :p |
Best Pop ever! Ha! Zombies - Odessey and Oracle easy.
And the Bane is really nothing special in my ears. Oh shi, Illmatic is right. Wouldn't It Be Nice is such a dark song to me. It makes me feel :emo:. |
uh, Pet Sounds? I always thought that was a solid pop album but I could be wrong.
Mr. Miyagi doesn't need a Santa hat. |

Odessey and Oracle has some incredible vocals aswell but I don't think they can compare with the Beatles' best vocal work. Pet Sounds is right up their with Revolver. NP: Daydream Believer - The Monkees I hate the band but this song is catchy as hell. Good pop song..... |
i don't consider Revolver pop. I meant the poppy stuff of the 60s, not the experiemental, psychadelic, blues, heavier stuff of the later period. I mean straight up pop you'd hear on an oldies station. Of that, Help is the best.
|
Well you'd never hear a radio station play the Zombies.....
Plus I think half of Revolver could easily be played on "oldies" stations. There's no way Help! can match the songwritting either. Revolver makes for a perfect balance between their later era and their early era and that balance makes for stunning results. /puts on Village Green :smoke: |
Wouldn't It Be Nice is such a dark song to me. It makes me feel :emo:.
Are you nuts? I always thought that was such a happy song...I dunno, I do like Pet Sounds though...it's a bizarre album and it completely runs the gamut of moods. |
Well you'd never hear a radio station play the Zombies.....
I hear "She's Not There" and "Time of the Season" on the radio from time to time. |
"Willie the Pimp" is easily the coolest song on Hot Rats.
I never hear Zombies on my radio station. Who was it that said Pet Sounds was psychedelic? I don't know how this album is psychedelic, it's straight up Pop to me and none of the lyrics are psychedelia either. (except for the one line in "Sloop John B") Everyone's forgetting Village Green by the Kinks. I think it's better than Pet Sounds and can even rank with some of the Beatles latter material. |
Are you nuts? I always thought that was such a happy song...I dunno, I do like Pet Sounds though...it's a bizarre album and it completely runs the gamut of moods.
Everytime I hear it I feel kinda empty Brian Wilson has that effect one me :S Just something in the undertone of the song makes it sound really dark to me. And that was me Schyma, who said Pet Sounds is Psychedelic, most of that album is about Brian's struggle with drugs. He was/is really crazy I guess. Psychedelic doesn't mean it has to have all the "Trippy" sounds or what not it just means it could be about dreams got from drugs and Brian Wilson was up there with Syd and Brian Jones with genius's ruined by drugs. When I get home and have more time and your still arguing with me (:P) I'll explain or whatever. Aye, Willie the Pimp is my favorite song from Hot Rats it also lead me to think Captian Beefheart sounded like that. Then I bought Trout Mask Replica and was dissappointed. |
Well you'd never hear a radio station play the Zombies.....
You've never heard "Time of the Season" on the radio? That song is played so much around here.
And that was me Schyma, who said Pet Sounds is Psychedelic
I also think the album is Psychedelic. Not as much as others, but the tone, production, guitars, etc, all sound Psychedelic to me. |
