pretty much every place has it's positives and negatives unless you're a spoiled brat or something

Yeah, all I know is I live in a section of jersey that was right in between the two stereotypes. I'm in central NJ, right near Princeton which is an awesome town. The south is mostly pine barrens hick people, though they have nicer beaches. The North is the typical "dirty jersey" stereotype, you have Newark, Orange, all the shitty industrial cities. As you take the Turnpike up north all you see is smog factories and stuff.

But yeah, their are a couple nice places, Long Beach Island, Sandy Hook, Princeton, Wildwood, Princeton. The aforementioned beaches are really nice, but New Jersey beaches for the most part suck, especially compared to Long Island, NY beaches.

I've been sheltered in a rich suburban town.

I went to Wildwood for the first time this past summer. I loved it.
