Me and Jared (Apollyon) play that game every now and then. I've only played in one 3 player game, but it was incredible.
Our friend Matt had all of South America, but that was about it, so he just fortified the hell out of it. So me and Jared "teamed up" to take him out. During this siege of South America, I took a couple pot shots at Jared's forces in Asia, but convinced him we were still working together, all while building up my forces along the Europe-Asia border (Ukraine, Afghanistan, Poland, etc.). After breaking through and taking South America, I unleashed all of my forces into Asia, which was left horribly under-defended because Jared was throwing everything he had at our friend. I conquered the entire continent of Asia in two turns, then polished off Matt, who had moved headquarters to Australia. Possibly the proudest moment of my life. I actually tricked somebody into allowing me to beat them in two turns. |
That's awesome, I was playing a 4 player game one time and I was pushed right back until the only territories I had were Indonesia and Eastern Australia. The rest of the guys figured I wasn't going anywhere and were fighting amongst themselves while I slowly fortified and conquered. I took all Europe and all Asia in less than 10 moves. Then went on to win the game.
Best. Game. Ever. |
Incredible.
That game is fun as hell. It makes me feel smart when I pull something off. |
I've charged out of Brazil like a madman and beaten everyone before.
I was stuck there, with not many men, and they all were expecting me to sit there and build my armies, and because they got all confident I was done, they tried to jokingly taunt me by withdrawing all their forces in South America other than one battalion. So I went for it, because I knew they didn't think I'd actually do it. 5 Battalions later I have a VERY WEAK hold on South America, so my friend says "I'll ally with you and protect you for 3 turns". I was like ok, so I built back up an army while he kept me safe, and then with 20 battalions I went for it, and came out without losing a single man, and I had North America and Africa. From there, I pushed out and surrounded the last man in Ukraine. Attacking at all sides, I won. I am a RISK master lol. That and it was late at night and I think everyone else was making alot of stupid decisions. |
Im finishing the game from a few nights ago tonight, my friend left it set up.
I dont like playing 2 person RISK, theres not enough diplomacy involved, so I usually play with about 4, but I have played a couple of 6 person games. I think the key is patience. You shouldnt take a continent too early, it will make you too much of a target, and if your continent isnt well defended and somebody plants a nail in it (major attack to stop you from getting extra armies and being annoying), then your best bet is to just try and pull your troops out of the continent entirely and have one massive force, then go for australia or south american a few turns later and rebuild/ Also, NEVER GO FOR ASIA. If somebody is holding asia and it isnt basically the end of the game, then all of the other players are stupid. Also, many a time ive heard Europe described as a 'fools errand', but I win a lot of games by taking europe early on. Its just that you need to make a border alliance somewhere to hold it easier. Usually, there isnt a lot of forces in asia since its not a good continent to target, and the Greenland/Iceland alliance is common, so Africa is probably your next target. Hahahaha, this thread is dominated by RISK. |

Yup. I always end up going for europe or africa first, but then because the one of those 2 im not going for always has 2 people competing for it, I feel unsafe trying to establish a continent that close to a major warzone (dont want all kind of the losers refugees to be forced towards me), so I end up going into South America. IAN: I dont know who all left, I dont know if anyone did, its just mad dead around here. RISK is still fun to talk about though, so its all good. We need to get an online version of it and all play each other, that would be sick. |
Risk is fun indeed. I don't get to play it much and when I do it's only with the fam.
It appears mad dead all over the forums. Heh, I guess everyone else realized at the same time as I did that I hate the internet. The only real reason I go on anymore is to get a tab maybe, or download something from iTunes. |
See, everyone says that, and that just makes it more fun for the people who stuck around.
Pop-punk is dead, I dont know about the rest of the forums, the only other one I really go in is hxc, and thats doing fine. |
They should just delete the pop punk forum / merge it with the pop/pop rock forum.

Once you turn 18 there is no turning back. You are old and grumpy forever.
