BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-25-2005 01:37 AM

Being cheesy is not a good thing.

JonG 11-25-2005 01:38 AM

I like a couple of VH songs. Unchained, because of the cool intro and Hot For Teacher. It is very ZZ Top-esque to me.

Jacaranda 11-25-2005 01:42 AM

I like David Lee Roth because he has real skills, seriously how can he do that kick. I've actually been practicing and by senior year my goal is to be able to get my leg just like him. I do stretches every night because of that goal!

TheDMV 11-25-2005 01:42 AM
Van Halen makes me laugh a lot. I love them, simply because they're so cheesy. Until David Lee Roth left. Then they started taking themselves seriously, and it all just went to hell.
VH is absolutley terrible. They have got a few catchy singles but they ruin it by being waaay over the top. Take, for example, Jump: it has an awesome synth riff, the lyrics are up beat, and oh, :upset: here comes Eddie ruining the song with an overwrought, super fast, sad guitar solo that does fit in with the rest of the song in the slightest. Way to go Ed :thumb:

Ugh, I hate DLR.

What! Sammy sucks so hardcore the best thing he has ever been a part of is that damn tequila of his.

He's like Brian Johnson but in a (much) better band.

Leper 11-25-2005 01:47 AM

I prefer DLR over Hagar. But I agree, Van Halen is very over-the-top for the most part. Fun to listen to every now and then though.

Illmatic 11-25-2005 01:48 AM

Guys, guys, let's calm down here. We all know Gary Cherone was the best Van Halen singer.

blue3 11-25-2005 02:03 AM

I like DLR most. I saw Van Halen last year :)

Haha I've trying to think of something to say to that for like 10 minutes..

Danger Bird 11-25-2005 02:37 AM

I agree, you listen to Van Halen 1 and compared to F.U.C.K. it's god damnned Sargeant Pepper's.
I agree, you listen to Van Halen 1 and compared to F.U.C.K. it's god damnned Sargeant Pepper's.
What?

Is Van Halen considered hair metal?
New revelation:
Voodoo Chile > Voodoo Child (Silent Return)
meh....
I think a lot of people had that revelation awhile ago.

And those albums are great.

Yeah I mean Hendrix+Winwood+Casady+Mitchell, then make them have a 15 min blues jam. How can you go wrong?

thickasabrick 11-25-2005 02:09 PM

Personally, I think PATGOD and Saucerful of Secrets are the two best psychedelic albums.

I wouldn't really consider Are You Exerienced to be psychedelic. There's more blues than psychedelia in that album.

Broken Arrow 11-25-2005 03:04 PM

Yeah but there are definetly some elements of psychedelia still there. "Third Stone From the Sun" is currently my favourite track from that album. I still think it's probably the weakest link in Hendrix's studio album chain.

JonG 11-25-2005 03:05 PM

I still haven't got that album. Somebody sent it out but didn't attach a link.

np: Nick Drake - Road

Broken Arrow 11-25-2005 03:09 PM

Nice avatar Jon. I like that version of the cover way better than the coloured version on the CD. I have the original 3 LP viynl with the brown/black and white cover like your avatar.

JonG 11-25-2005 03:10 PM

Nice. I would like to find it on vinyl. Although it probably is somewhere downstairs and I haven't found it yet.

Anybody have any album recommendations?

Broken Arrow 11-25-2005 03:13 PM

What kind of music are you looking for?

FenderBender92 11-25-2005 03:17 PM

hey krabsman, did you ever get your fender back?

DeusExMachina 11-25-2005 03:36 PM

I wouldn't consider Third Stone from the Sun to be pscyhadelic. Psychadelia requires having some aspect of dreaminess for me, and I don't get that from that song. Still a great song, though.
Anybody have any album recommendations?
what kind of music are you looking for? and what albums do you already have?

jpj 11-25-2005 03:43 PM

God, I don't post for a day and there's like a gagillion new pages. Don't you guys have families?

I got this box set thing with Blow by Blow, Wired, and There and Back for only $20.99! I'm listening to Wired right now, it's awesome.

Fuck everyone in this thread who didn't vote for Gregg Allman (that means you, thickasaprick).

JonG 11-25-2005 03:46 PM

I voted for Gregg :)

I'm looking for anything.
