I'm only on my first listen through but I'm very glad that the Banhart is experimenting within his realm of style. It's still distinctly him, but the changes are evident and a very solid progression from where he was.

Since my last post I've listened to [I]Talkin' Honky Blues[/I] again, a bunch of random stuff, and then Elliott Smith's [I]Roman Candle[/I].

I'm in love with the one 20 Minute Loop song I've heard. I need to get [I]Yawn + House = Explosion[/I].

I finally got [i]Roman Candle[/i]. Elliott's best work pixies? C'mon.

I think it's great, but not his best. [I]XO[/I] still holds that place for me, but I haven't got the self-titled album or [I]Either/Or[/I] yet.

I'm still lacking [i]Roman Candle[/i], but I definitely view [i]Either/Or[/i] as easily his best. Easily.

[I]Either/Or[/I] and [I]XO[/I] are the best Elliott albums. [I]Roman Candle[/I] has ups and downs, and those other two really just have ups.

Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Vespers, Op. 37." I namecheck this piece all the time, because it's really beautiful stuff. Choir music doesn't get enough love.

I've been listening to The Melvins, The Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene a lot lately, I'm really digging they're material.

Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol 2 (4/5)

He uses the line structure 'My x is y, like z' way too often, and some of his politics and theories are a little questionable. Still, a really really good album.

Meh, [i]XO[/i] is decent. But [i]Either/Or[/i] is definitely his best. It's one of my favourite albums of all time.

This is the most epic and emotional ambient record I've ever heard. It's, like, [i]Godspeed[/i] epic. I'm very impressed.

Also, everytime I read the album title, I think it to the melody of the line "Before your father hears us" from Radiohead's "Exit Music (For A Film)," so that's exciting.

^ It's great album. Like a modern day My Bloody Valentine.

I think we basically pick up our music/get recommendations from the same sources, because I'm familiar with a lot of the stuff you mention.

Except for the jazz, where I only know the artists.

I bought the LCD Sounsystem album and it's amazing!!

I've recently downloaded the Angel dust album by Faith No More. It's pretty good.

World Inferno Frienship Society are amazing, and everyone who's heard them knows it. And those who haven't...well THEY LOST OUT THE SILLY MOFOS.

I listened to the Mars Volta today. That doesn't happen often, but they've grown on me lots.

B&S are great, one of the first bands that got me into Indie. As soon as I heard "Like Dylan In the Movies" I was hooked.
