Xinlisupreme - Murder License
Xinlisupreme - Tomorrow Never Comes Tiger Army - TA3: Ghost Tigers Rise Much thanks to the excellent TalkingHead for recommending/uploading Xinlisupreme. They are an awesome Japanese post rock/noise rock band. |
Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow
Same. I'm only on my first listen through but I'm very glad that the Banhart is experimenting within his realm of style. It's still distinctly him, but the changes are evident and a very solid progression from where he was. |
Since my last post I've listened to Talkin' Honky Blues again, a bunch of random stuff, and then Elliott Smith's Roman Candle.
I'm in love with the one 20 Minute Loop song I've heard. I need to get Yawn + House = Explosion. |
I finally got Roman Candle. Elliott's best work pixies? C'mon.
|
I think it's great, but not his best. XO still holds that place for me, but I haven't got the self-titled album or Either/Or yet.

I'm still lacking Roman Candle, but I definitely view Either/Or as easily his best. Easily. |
Either/Or and XO are the best Elliott albums. Roman Candle has ups and downs, and those other two really just have ups.
|
Yeah, I really need to get Either/Or as soon as possible.
|
War - Why Can't We Be Friends?
Oh, memories. |
Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Vespers, Op. 37." I namecheck this piece all the time, because it's really beautiful stuff. Choir music doesn't get enough love.
|
I've been listening to The Melvins, The Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene a lot lately, I'm really digging they're material.
|
M83 - Gone (live)
|
20 Minute Loop
Santana |
Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol 2 (4/5)
He uses the line structure 'My x is y, like z' way too often, and some of his politics and theories are a little questionable. Still, a really really good album. |
Meh, XO is decent. But Either/Or is definitely his best. It's one of my favourite albums of all time.
|
Happy Mondays - Pills n Thrills and Bellyaches
And a lot of random Guided by Voices stuff. |
M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us !!!
This is the most epic and emotional ambient record I've ever heard. It's, like, Godspeed epic. I'm very impressed. Also, everytime I read the album title, I think it to the melody of the line "Before your father hears us" from Radiohead's "Exit Music (For A Film)," so that's exciting. |
^ It's great album. Like a modern day My Bloody Valentine.
|
Built To Spill - Ancient Melodies Of The Future
Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime |
Recently got into Afghan Whigs...tight bunch that is. I also decided to blow the dust from Jane's Addictions 'Ritual De Lo Habitual" today....almost forgot how good that record was. Swingin'!
Thomas Dybdahl & That Great October Sound: am I the only one who thinks this guy is god? |
I see you also like The Delgados, Nach...thank heavens!...now people here will actually start listening to them!
|
Nouvelle Vague - s/t (nifty lounge-ified covers album)
Ephel Duath - The Painter's Palette (jazz-influenced extreme metal? It's a lot more accessibe than I thought it would be) |
 I wish I had that kind of influence
it's a great album though, reminds me of Mercury Rev/the Beatles.
I pay attention to your posts in this thread when you mention something I don't know. You do it so often though. :( |
I think people pretty much tune out what I'm digging, for some reason.

I think we basically pick up our music/get recommendations from the same sources, because I'm familiar with a lot of the stuff you mention. Except for the jazz, where I only know the artists. |
I bought the LCD Sounsystem album and it's amazing!!
It's like a cross between The Rapture and The Fall |
I've recently downloaded the Angel dust album by Faith No More. It's pretty good.
|
World Inferno Frienship Society are amazing, and everyone who's heard them knows it. And those who haven't...well THEY LOST OUT THE SILLY MOFOS.
I listened to the Mars Volta today. That doesn't happen often, but they've grown on me lots. |
Kings of Convenience - Quiet Is The New Loud. I've really enjoyed this. I see this album as much more my style than Riot On An Empty Street.

They are. |
Brendan Benson - The Alternative To Love (3.5/5) Not as good as I was expecting but good nonetheless
|

Kings of convenience are cool as. |
Today is the Lemonheads day for Matt.
|
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
On first impressions, it's good, but it's certainly no Disintegration or The Head on The Door. |
I'm about to go and dig Belle & Sebastien, plus I just got Pulp - His n' Hers for a belated birthday present, so I shall be digging that too.

B&S are great, one of the first bands that got me into Indie. As soon as I heard "Like Dylan In the Movies" I was hooked. |
