what do you suggest I do? Should I take the "1" through Malibu, then drive through sunset boulevard?
That'll probably be your best bet. Sunset shouldn't be too bad as if it was a weekend. You know tourists and all.

What do all the Opeth fans here think of Bloodbath? I'm listening to Resurrection Through Carnage right now and I was wondering what everyone else thought.

Special Brew 09-11-2005 01:34 PM
There is a band called Farmakon who are very similar to Opeth, though a bit heavier and a little funkier. They have an album out called A Warm Glimpse, it's great.

You might also like Woods of Ypres and Agalloch, though they're not quite so similar :)
The only band you mentioned that is even close to Opeth is Agalloch, and that is still far off. The closest band I have found is Novembre.

If thats the one with Mike, I love it, personally.

Yes it is. Surprisingly, I'm liking it a hell of a lot. I've heard their second album, the one without Mike, was even better.

penelope_weird_hands 09-11-2005 01:45 PM

they are non-existant on amazon and i can't even google novembre without finding a site about some digital artist (daniel long).

errrm.. a little help here?? (discography? biography? reviews?) :(

Eeeeeeeeeh, its pretty different though. I don't really like the other singer... Pete something. And the guitars doesn't have that overly distored sound which I love on the one with Mike. Thats a sweet record.

That's too bad. I love Mike's growl and the distorted guitar sound, but from what I've read the newer one is faster and heavier. I'll just have to give it a listen I guess.

Darkness 09-11-2005 01:50 PM

Yeah you may like it. Its not really my thing.

to damien rhodes. the second.

ta, appreciate it.

Special Brew 09-11-2005 01:57 PM

Isn't Bloodbath's newest singer the guy from Hypocrisy? I don't follow that band, so I could easily be wrong.

No problem. ;)

Killtacular 09-11-2005 02:09 PM

Just listened to Still Life again. It did nothing but reaffirm my thoughts of it being Opeth's magnum opus. Pure genius. Godhead's Lament owns.

Yes, Peter Tägtgren.
Yes, Peter Tägtgren.
Yeah, I love his vocals in Hypocrisy. I haven't heard much Bloodbath though. Have they released any albums with him doing vocals? Also, which albums have Mikael doing them?

They only have two albums out so far. The first, Resurrection Through Carnage, had Mike doing vocals. The second, Nightmare Made Flesh, had Peter doing vocals. I'm listening to RTC right now and it's prety good. I'll listen to NMF when it's done downloading.

I'm not at all familiar with Hypocrisy, but I'm looking into them too.

Special Brew 09-11-2005 02:22 PM

I have RTC downloaded but never gave it much of a listen. I've never been into any non-technical brutal type death metal. I've put it on right now though. ;)

Jamie FT 09-11-2005 03:20 PM

*got to see bloodbath's first and last ever gig last month in Wacken and got RTC signed by the band*

Yeah, Peter is incredible...he's like the Devin Townsend of black+death metal. :p

Didn't know he was in Bloodbath, now....cool!

Deth 09-11-2005 07:08 PM

I have both Bloodbath's albums (downloaded, I'm ashamed of myself) and Nightmares Made Flesh kicks the crap out of RTC. The riffs are better, the drumming is a huge improvement and the guitar tone improved. Pick it up if you don't have it.

relliK 09-11-2005 07:12 PM

Agreed.

NMF slays RTC.

Subete 09-12-2005 09:38 AM

Anyone seen the grand conjuration video? I saw it on kerrang yesterday. It's pretty sweet.

 we probably had the same one!
My white cluster was faulty aswell.
But then I bought the album. :thumb:

Det_Nosnip 09-12-2005 11:49 AM

Yeah, that's the solution to any of your download problems. :)
Anyone seen the grand conjuration video? I saw it on kerrang yesterday. It's pretty sweet.
It's pretty atrocious. Even more painful is the way they cut down the song for it. Mikael said the band had very little part in producing it and don't like it...I believe that.

Prince of Darkness 09-12-2005 12:34 PM

The chance that the'll air that in South Africa, -10% chance.
