I've noticed kids only liking popular and well known Classic Rock bands, like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, ect...

They missout on some of the greatest lesser known Classic rock bands. Like The Byrds, or Buffalo Springfield, Big Brother and Holding Company, The Velvet Underground, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Van Morrison, ect. Most of those bands were pretty big in their day, but the kids these days aren't looking for those bands. Usually, they are looking for the heavier, or louder types, but that's only the kids I know.
^Pete Towshend (The Who)

Sadly enough, that's the only good one I found that goes down to 70x70 well :(

Woodstock 09-05-2004 11:53 AM

It's hard to find a good pic of the Who.

I just want opinions, do you like this avatar more than the Hendrix one?

I don't care for Iron Butterfly, and Blind Faith doesn't have enough material.

Also in regards to the Zeppelin dvd, I like the first concert the best, I forget which one it is.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-05-2004 12:38 PM

I liked the end one just because it had a wonderful version of Achilles Last Stand on it... (My favorite song)

Edit: People said there was a version of Heartbreaker on Royal Albert Hall concert...i can't find it  Help?

In my opinon their first album, which was basicly all of their material at the time. Was their best. More folk and blues, less hard rock.

True. I didn't like Madison Square Garden that much..

Against Miik! 09-05-2004 01:42 PM

I just bought some CDs. Best of the Steve Miller Band for 10$ and Best of Deep Purple for 7$, and Kanye West. We don't really talk about Steve Miller. Lets do it.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-05-2004 01:43 PM

I like The Joker. Catchy as hell.

Johnny B. Goode 09-05-2004 02:07 PM
And of course there are more hugely popular Classic Rock bands that should be known forever. Like, The Who (My favorite). They make music like no other. Each member was fabulous, all craftman. Or The Grateful Dead, who defined a generation, and started a long line of San Fransico bands. Or Crosby, Stills Nash, and Young. Who in many ways were the American, more talented Beatles. They had it all. For most Classic rock listens, that band is usually over looked, and The Grateful Dead.

I recomend all Classic Rock listeners to listen to these lesser known Classic Rock bands

Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, The Hollies, Blind Faith, Big Bro and Holding Company, The Mother of Invention, The Lovin' Spoonful, ect. There is just to much to name.
Yeah... a lot of people don't know about blind faith... which is a shame, because in my opinion, they were almost as good as the cream... seeing as clapton and baker were in it. i don't know if I would call the lovin' Spoonful classic rock though. Still great anyway. Oh yeah, did you know that John Sebastian played harmonica on a doors album.

slowhand 09-05-2004 02:14 PM

Well, in Blind Faith, Clapton did a pretty good job soloing. But I don't think that Ric Grech (the bassist) was that good of a bassist. It would have been better if it was Jack Bruce, but that would be Cream with Steve Winwood on the keyboards, now wouldn't it?

And talking about Winwood, anyone here's a fan of Traffic?

FrailandBedazzled1979 09-05-2004 02:21 PM

ive been on an Obsessive Styx binge for quite sometime now, anyone else into them much?

Badmoon 09-05-2004 02:43 PM

^Yeah, they're actually from my old town.

I think he's pretty good.

Well, then you'd be wrong. They are most certainly Folk-Rock during the Classic Rock era.

I'm not saying that he's bad, but I preffer Bruce's style much more, and his bass solo in 'Do What You Like' let me down and wanting Bruce there more.

Does anybody have the "Concert for George [Harrison]" CD? If so, do you have MP3s for "Beware of Darkness" and "Isn't it a Pity"?

If you do, could you send them to me? An easy way would be using Eric's new GMAIL sharing thing:

Thanks
