You guys made it sound worse than it actually was...

TheDMV 11-22-2005 05:11 PM

what's happening? could you guys just sumarize it, or is it that bad? :(

Illmatic 11-22-2005 05:13 PM

She forgot to close out of this thread, and her dad read part of a page where a few folks here were talking about drugs. He talked to her about it and banned her from the site.

Jam2Me 11-22-2005 05:16 PM

Amanda was diagnosed with incurable cancer of the ear drum.

I voted for Georgie in the poll, he had a sweet voice all the way up to death.

:)
I have the YSI link, but winzip sucks and says that 'some data in Zip file is damaged' and won't let me play the songs. So, I don't know what to do..

JonG 11-22-2005 05:27 PM

thickasabrick, have you heard Double Nickels on the Dime?

It's excellent, and theirs about 40 tracks.

np: Velvet Underground - Sister Ray

Ugh, this song drags on too much :(

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-22-2005 06:09 PM
I'm assuming everyone got Amanda's email. I feel so bad....I don't know what to say. I won't talk about anything like that anymore so it doesn't happen again.
I feel horrible too. I also won't talk about such things. :-/

On a brighter note: I'm finally getting a chance to listen to The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery and Friday Night in San Francisco by McLaghlin/De Lucia/Di Meola and so far both are Jazz guitar masterpeices.

Harsh...yeah, if my parents saw all the drug talk that goes on here, they wouldn't be so keen on it either.

Broken Arrow 11-22-2005 06:34 PM

I prefer DNotD to this BoHUtIoH.

Still good stuff, thanks m00ny.

Badmoon 11-22-2005 06:44 PM

Yea, Double Nickels is better, but Buzz or Howl is still pretty good. "Self-Referenced" is its finest moment.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-22-2005 06:49 PM

So....John Mayor just released another album (Try) and apparently it's really good. I'm not much of a follower of the guy but I've seen him play some Blues songs that were impressive to say the least. Allmusic gave it 4 and a half stars so it should be at least a fair listen. Hope I can hear it soon.

Glitterati 11-22-2005 06:53 PM

John Mayer is a talented guy. I can listen to him sometimes, but some of his stuff is far too poppy.

Rocking the Meat Loaf avatar

Yeah all the reviews I've seen are great and say that it's not poppy like his studio stuff but more blues-rock oriented. He's a great guitarist so I'd like to have an album of his where he shows off his blues talents a little. I've had enough of songs like Your Body is a Wonderland.
You're on like two avatars a day, you thrillseeker.
Yeah, now that MX resizes avatars for me, I've gone nuts.

Broken Arrow 11-22-2005 07:05 PM

Aw, man I never knew about the auto-resizer.

/changes avatar

robo2448 11-22-2005 07:09 PM

Guess I'll follow the avatar trend.

The Minutemen album is pretty good. It's so short though.

Badmoon 11-22-2005 07:17 PM

I can't choose which Peter Tosh avatar I should keep :(

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-22-2005 07:20 PM

Choose that one^

Anyone know who's in my avatar?

If you don't know you should find out. He's becoming one of my favorite musicians.

Thanks for the Marley album btw. Can't wait to download it. :)

Illmatic 11-22-2005 07:21 PM

Who is Django Reinhardt, Spence.

Badmoon 11-22-2005 07:23 PM

I know Django Reinhardt.

He's a gypsy/guitar extraordinare.

Illmatic 11-22-2005 07:23 PM

Guess who is in my avatar, y'all.

Badmoon 11-22-2005 07:29 PM

Freddie?

Bah! I hate when someone doesn't put the "r" on the end of my name.

I can't stop listening to him. His style is just incredible. "Minor Swing" could quite possibly be the greatest song ever. EVER.

Illmatic 11-22-2005 07:35 PM
Freddie?
He's dead :( but he's not Freddie.
Bah! I hate when someone doesn't put the "r" on the end of my name
A new way to piss off one of the regs here? All right! :p

Yeah no I can see why you'd get upset over that, because "Spence" just sounds lame.
I can't stop listening to him. His style is just incredible. "Minor Swing" could quite possibly be the greatest song ever. EVER.
You misspelled "A Change is Gonna Come" (uh ohs major hint)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-22-2005 07:57 PM

Has anyone heard Paradise and Lunch by Ry Cooder? "Jesus on the Mainline" and "Ditty Wah Ditty" are 2 fantastic songs. I'm really starting to respect him too. I mean he jumps from genre to genre as if he were jumping stepping stones. Very interesting listen, I recommend it to all "true" music lovers.

Oh shi? Really I don't think I got that mail but that blows.
I have the YSI link, but winzip sucks and says that 'some data in Zip file is damaged' and won't let me play the songs. So, I don't know what to do..
Oh its fine, I suppose... :upset: Nah, but thanks for trying!

Sam Cooke, Illmatic. Nice choice. Aretha > Sam's version. Ya I said it.
I might be lying, or I might now or maybe they are both as good!

Peter Tosh and the Stones were friends! He was signed to their label, until Mick licked him on SNL live...

Badmoon 11-22-2005 07:59 PM

Upload it, eventually, if you can. I've been trying to find that one for awhile.

I only have Buena Vista Social Club and Bop Til' You Drop.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-22-2005 08:07 PM

I found it in my used record store. Which is odd considering they usally don't have anything there. I'll try to upload it tonight but I can't promise anything.

What exactly is his connection to Buena Vista Social Club?

Jacaranda 11-22-2005 08:09 PM

He discovered the singer I believe and played guitar in it.

Krabsworth 11-22-2005 08:12 PM

Yo everyone.
