I'm not particularly proficient at biking.
Only one way to fix that.

FunkMetalBass 09-16-2009 11:51 AM

Does nobody care about the urgent and pressing matter of my re-finish selection? Does nobody have an opinion on anything that isn't tea or biking? Has the MXWorld gone mad!?

He's taking the proactive solution and avoiding the problem before it starts.

I have feet. They're good enough. :)

Mostly this.

Efrim 09-16-2009 12:13 PM

Psha, I say.

BenJammin 09-16-2009 12:30 PM

Finally got everything back on my laptop. 30GB of pirating and 3 days of downloading later...

FunkMetalBass 09-16-2009 12:53 PM

Whew. Congrats!

I still can't get my windows computer up and running. I think I'm going to buy an older pre-assembled computer off of craigslist and swap out hard drives, memory, and video cards (unless it comes stock with better sh*t than mine had).

Or I could buy a new motherboard, but I don't know if I could find a motherboard that has DDR1 memory slots anymore. Haha.

Cramboli 09-16-2009 01:05 PM

I bet it'd probably be hard but not as hard being as though everyone else upgraded and tried to sell there crap only problem is being able to upgrade on it...

Pluperfect_Arson 09-16-2009 02:13 PM
windows
I found your problem.
Side walks are death traps.
We are not legally allowed to ride on the sidewalks of Portland, which is weird because we have to stay in the streets, but bicycle cops have to stay on the sidewalk, for they cannot ride in the street. I never understood that.
Just quickly, why wouldn't you want brakes on your bike?
mad whip skidzz bro
I found your problem.
Yep. I run linux normally, but linux hates flash, and there are just some things that you need a Windows box for. I had two boxes - windows and linux - and I set them up with a KVM switch for convenience sake.

I almost did the same thing, but I gave up on Windows.

Flash problems ftl, though.

Which distro do you run?

Spaceman Spiff 09-16-2009 03:48 PM

Sweet.

I'm seeing The Mars Volta live in a few weeks.
And I'm seeing Wilco in about a month.

October will be awesome.

Epidemechanical 09-16-2009 04:04 PM

go post in my thread spiff

Spaceman Spiff 09-16-2009 04:11 PM

When I have something to say.

Epidemechanical 09-16-2009 04:14 PM

are you going to listen

Spaceman Spiff 09-16-2009 04:21 PM

Probably. I've listened to most (all?) of the Tactus A stuff that's been put up up until now. Give me some time and I'll check it out.

Epidemechanical 09-16-2009 04:26 PM

then you've heard the first 3 songs

but listen to the android codex thats what we've spent all summer putting together

nisakss 09-16-2009 05:45 PM

Hey all, got a prettty stupid question (like most of my questions): Should I use my DI box to record a bass track on a Micro BR recorder?

Left Shoe 09-16-2009 05:55 PM

lurk lurk lurk

Spaceman Spiff 09-16-2009 05:59 PM

Oh dang, it's Phil.

What's happening, Phil?

Jaded 09-16-2009 08:27 PM

anybody home?

Sablate McNuff 09-16-2009 11:55 PM

Yeah, boy. PayPal payed me.

FunkMetalBass 09-17-2009 10:09 AM

Should I make my Fender Jazz a string-thru? I'm going to replace the bridge with a Hipshot A-style anyways.

Also, black hardware, or stick with the chrome? What color pickguard should I go with (I'm thinking white pearloid)?

gaslight 09-17-2009 10:23 AM

I think string-thru would look very bizarre on a Fender.

Leaning to not changing the hardware colour but maybe black could be okay.

FunkMetalBass 09-17-2009 10:47 AM

I just did some quick photoshopping (which I suck at, but it's a visual reference), and I think the black hardware looks great.

fatbandit 09-17-2009 10:50 AM

black hardware is the only good option on a bass.

fatbandit 09-17-2009 10:50 AM

on ANY bass.

gaslight 09-17-2009 10:51 AM

Haha that is patently untrue.

The black will look okay on the Fender but I think chrome or to be truly specific, nickel, is what would suit that bass best. Anything else changes the flavour of it too much for me personally. Classic look is the way to go on a Fender.

Epidemechanical 09-17-2009 10:54 AM

chris why have you not shown my math thread love

:-(

I'm going to replace the neck with a blocked and bound neck (maple, black binding & blocks), so it'll look more like a Geddy in a blue color. I think the black will just look better with the bass.

Fenders are inherently classic looking, which is all fine and dandy, but I don't like the classic look.

What? Did I hear MATH?!?

Epidemechanical 09-17-2009 11:45 AM

its math metal doesnt have much to do with math its just the genre schtick
its math metal doesnt have much to do with math its just the genre schtick
What makes you think I don't enjoy math metal? That's my favorite part about metal in general - odd syncopations, different time signatures, and mathematical patterns.

fatbandit 09-17-2009 01:00 PM

Can someone hook me up with a copy of Cubase? A recent-ish one...

Pluperfect_Arson 09-17-2009 01:13 PM

You should make that Fender 5 string, pussy.

FunkMetalBass 09-17-2009 01:17 PM
You should make that Fender 5 string, slightly confuzzled sea lion.
No way. I hate the way a B-string feels on a 34" scale.

burtonbassist_102 09-17-2009 01:52 PM

oh jeez.
I think string-thru would look very bizarre on a Fender.
actually the jazz bass 24's are string-thru. not that bad.

Exactly my point. It's only noticable from the back anyways. I figure, why not?

EADGC, bro.

FunkMetalBass 09-17-2009 02:14 PM
EADGC, bro.
I'd want a wider neck for a 5-string, personally.

I'll just stick with 4-strings. If I need higher notes, I've got four 6-strings and an 8-string that will suffice.
