I don't enjoy the darker and folky works. It just tickles me wrong.

I wouldn't. Wintersun gives me a total headache, but w/e floats peoples boats.

Nice to see other people who dislike Wintersun. I thought I was the only one. They almost bored me to tears when I listened to the album.

Ensiferum is SO much freaking better. Wintersun just has nothing going for them (or him...).

Wow, you really think so? [I]Wintersun[/I] is one of my favourite albums. Really all-around inspired songwriting. They annihilate every other Finnish-style power metal band I can think of. It's very melodic but interesting in structure, which is sometimes hard to pull off, and obviously the musicianship is terrific (code for he's a freaking beast at guitar).

Now Symphony X, there's a yawnfest.

I'm sorry, but Romeo over the dude in that anyday. Plus, man, Russell Allen on vocals...you can't ****ing beat that.

Yeah, they're definitely better technically. I just think they make bland music. I've enjoyed a few songs by them though, they're not horrible or anything.

I dunno, I think the opposite. True, Symphony X tends to recycle riffs throughout certain songs, but they have this undeniable feel together that makes it work perfectly.

I guess I can't really explain why I like Wintersun. They're one of the only bands I've heard that occasionally take me to a higher place, as brutally cheesy as it sounds. Something about the imagery mixed with the music makes them really appealing to me.

I like the Wintersun album, it's not that bad, except I'm liek never in the mood of listening to them, and when I do, I don't finishthe whole album...ohwell

Yeah, Wintersun urges very rarely hit me. And when they do hit me, one listen does me good.

I can listen to Winter Madness over and over again but the rest of the album is mood induced listening only. The solo in Winter Madness is one of my all-time favorites.

I really think a certain someone should add Nocturnal Rites to the selection for a certan Spotlight.

I don't see why Symphony X are so much better, personally. Sure, there a good band, but to me, Wintersun is just a step better.

And I convinced my drummer to play Beyond The Mirror by Galloglass. Major victory, considering he hates power metal. So now I need bass tabs for it. Any suggestions?

Damn straight. I love their style.

They're supposed to be recording in studio around September I think. I hope it's not too much like the Odyssey. I rather their older stuff because its more power metal-ly. Newer is more progressive metal imo. Anyone else agree?

Seriously? Bah oh well. I have that Cellador song stuck in my head, Leaving All Behind. The singer sounds ridiculously (sp? lol I'm tired) a lot to Timo Kotipelto.

That band is generic as all hell, and their vocalist needs serious lessons. They have potential though.

Personally, I'd want a Symphony X album that combines music like on DWOT with the vocal performances of The Odyssey. That would be the best album ever.

It's good though, not as generic-sounding as a lot of their stuff. I might just have to buy it!

Well, if Hammerfall have a non generic album out, I'll definately have to get it, as I love their generic stuff.
