Noooo daddy, the Brits have been setting up their propaganda in the pop-punk discussion thread! It's by which they try and infect everyone by not even being able to speak the language they created.
You Americans and me must stick together, those brits ruin the GOOD name of pop punk.

Shtein 07-21-2005 04:39 PM

Indubitably

Yeah true, now I know why the punks used to invade and show their knives, now I come here and show my bread basket and cookies. :thumb:

RetiredAt21 07-21-2005 04:41 PM

Speaking of cookies, I'm going to get some oreos. Be back in five.

Now your hardcore, so change the breadbasket and cookies with breadbasket and special brownies

I have a foot long gray hair growing out of my leg.

I don't think I've had too many hairs grow out of my foot.

Yeah it was great the pop-punk and punk wars. Now it just seems like the punks would rape their faces with brace knucks. The Hardcore/emo forum just kills the playing field.

RetiredAt21 07-21-2005 04:46 PM

What? I don't understand.

Understanding In a Crash 07-21-2005 04:50 PM
What? I don't understand.
Hardcore/Emo is a forum that gives the Punk forum a huge edge over Pop-Punk. I never really listened to alot of pop-punk and with that forum it leans more people away. Alot of the mods are sexier here.

cheeser_1 07-21-2005 04:51 PM
Oh wait aren't RCA owned by one of the largest corporations around?
like i said sid, i'll let them speak for themselves (something you apparently have no familiarity with). instead of projecting garbage that isn't even true onto them, making assumptions about their motivations and intentions with a major label, and ignoring all the other relevant cases, you should actually read what they have to say. hell, why don't i just save you the terrible trouble of looking it up yourself.
Dear Friends and Family,

We have important news to share with you. We are currently writing and planning to record our next full-length album to be released on RCA Records in early 2006. Our relationship with the incredible people at Fat Wreck stays intact and we cannot thank them enough for their continued friendship and support.

To be frank, **** talkers will talk **** because that’s what they do… WE DO NOT GIVE A ****! We started this band to be heard, NOT to be controlled by petty people who want to tear down everything we attempt, instead of creating something of their own. We started this band to say what we want to say, the way we want to say it, for all to hear!

New label or not, Anti-Flag will continue to operate in that manner. We will continue to speak out against sexism, racism, and homophobia, as well as punk-scene elitism and superficial assholes. We will continue to stand against the mindlessness and dangers of patriotism, nationalism, militarism, fascism, and morally bankrupt neo-conservatives.

To those of you who consider yourself a part of our community, we understand that our decision may cause you concern or piss you off. We deeply respect you and do not want to discount your concerns. We want you to know that we are confident in our choice and completely committed to the principles that we have backed over the last 10+ years.

It’s past time to pick a side and take a stand! Years ago we chose the side of equality and justice and with this we re-affirm that choice. There are bigger battles to be fought than what text is on the back cover of an album.

Love-Peace-Unity-Respect, Anti-Flag

So how are we going to sell records to our fans now Justin Sane? I mean our demographic IS the "School of Rock" era. They learned all about "the man" in that movie. Now that we essentially work for "the man," whatever shall we do?

"Well... we say fascist 187 times in our new album..."

Alright! Seriously cheeser, why would I give a f'uck about what anti-flag has to say? I don't care. I don't care about anti-flags music. THE fact that they have to put out a statement like that is sad. The fact that practically anyone that used to be a fan of theirs talks enough s'hit about them for them to have to address it is sad. I wouldn't want fans like that, but anti-flag attracts those kinds of people.

Why would I believe a word of what they have to say? More importantly why in god's name would i ever care? To each his own, cheeser. I'll stop poking fun at them. No one is going to change the other person's mind.

EDIT: I've made fun of Against Me! plenty of times and I love their music.

obese_breasts 07-21-2005 05:05 PM

just a quick question for the cheese man, have Anti-Flag ever spoken out against Capitalism?

cheeser_1 07-21-2005 05:20 PM
More importantly why in god's name would i ever care? To each his own, cheeser.
that's well and good, but you can't keep attacking them if you don't care. if you care enough to mouth off about them constantly, you should care enough to actually believe what you say. as much as you make jokes constantly, you also either attack them quite seriously, or make jokes that aren't anything like jokes should be.
just a quick question for the cheese man, have Anti-Flag ever spoken out against Capitalism?
that depends on what exactly you mean. i am not sure if they oppose capitalism in any ideological sense, but i do know that they oppose the kinds of abuses and unethical things that go unchecked in today's capitalist system.

ThisUserIsAPipebomb 07-21-2005 05:22 PM

I don't like Anti-Flag mostly because of Justin Sane's vocals and the hypocrisy.

Sid 07-21-2005 05:25 PM

How many times have you made fun of bands you don't like, cheeser? Or at least ones you have no respect for?

Don't act so high and mighty. Everyone does it.

I don't make fun of anti-flag any more than say, the casualties. I make fun of bands like Coldplay even more. Why? It's fun. I'm not a fan so it's fun.

albert_bass 07-21-2005 05:25 PM

The only thing I don't like about Anti-flag is that I have to hear incessant bitching about them.

cheeser_1 07-21-2005 05:29 PM
How many times have you made fun of bands you don't like, cheeser? Or at least ones you have no respect for?
whenever i feel like it. like i said, you are saying things that are clearly not jokes. "justin sane is a hypocrite" is not a joke. there's no punch-line, no humor, no nothing. "making fun" and "attacking without cause or basis" are not the same thing, sid, and you know it. the fact that i rebuked you quite thoroughly should follow naturally from the completely unfunny way you attacked the band. i couldn't care less what you think of them, and it's obvious that i don't care about jokes that are clearly just for fun or unaccusatory. but i feel like setting people straight when you make stuff up and go on at length about things you don't know about.

guns_of_brixton 07-21-2005 05:29 PM

uhh...

/waits for flaming of anti flag profile...

Sid 07-21-2005 05:32 PM

What? That's because I DO think they're hypocrites. And I don't care that they are. And I was poking fun at them. So we're both saying the same thing.

But god d'amn it I don't want to keep on about this. Reply with what you will, I'm done. Just know that no matter how long of an essay you'll give me is going to change my mind.

And s'hit if someone doesn't like your music or makes fun of the bands you like, f'uck them they're idiots. I don't waste my breath with people that insult my music taste. Offline anyway. Internet allows it to be much more entertaining :).

I've driven it a few times when I was drunk. It's pretty sweet but it's got some big blind spots.

RetiredAt21 07-21-2005 05:39 PM

Blind spots can cost lives!!
