Why is it pointless? That's exactly who they're trying to be, except cr00shified. Its embarassing.
So when 100 bands do the same sound, it's awesome and so hard, but when one band tries sounding a bit like some bands from NY like SHEER TERROR and a hint of LOA, they suck and it's embarrassing. wow.

It's hard to be original these days, and we should've been able to cope with this by now, but if a band's gonna sound like another, I'd rather it be Sheer Terror and LOA.

There's a difference between original and bad.

War Hungry rulez

BuddyBigsby 08-05-2007 10:13 PM

Just because they have GREAT influences doesn't mean they pull it off.

There was once a band that tried to merge Helmet and Faith No More. Sounds awesome right? That band was called Korn. I know that's a bizarre comparison, but my point is just because they have awesome influences doesn't make them good. There will never be another Paul Bearer, and there will never be another Keith whatever his last name is from LOA. Some people can pull those off and still sound good. Listen to the first Blood for Blood album... total Sheer Terror worship and that album is still ****ing incredible on its own merit. In the past like 6 months it seems like a ton of bands have come out of the woodwork all simultaneously trying to rewrite River Runs Red, and its embarassing to see such a great album become another stupid hardcore trend (and have you heard later LoA? or what the members went on to afterwards? They were NOT perfect).

The Mongoloids to me are boring musically, sloppy as **** live, and their singer is trying WAY to hard to sound like Paul Bearer and it sounds so forced and unnatural. Same goes when he tries to do the LoA style vocals.

Agreed on all accounts. His voice sounds SO forced I can't stand it.

chips88 08-05-2007 10:34 PM

goddamnit you people are hurting my head, especially you scott.

its not forced, what the **** are you even talking about.

anyway, good job at starting beef shane, haha. hows the move going?

BuddyBigsby 08-05-2007 10:58 PM

Have you even ever heard Sheer Terror?

I feel like a dork arguing about this so fugg it. I don't like them and I stated pretty much every reason why. I don't give a sparkling **** if you guys dig them or not.

Let's Chop Cats! 08-05-2007 11:16 PM

Voice does sound forced but I think thats because he doesn't know how to sing normally.

Also any LOA that isn't RRR is pretty bad. Granted I haven't listened to anything other than RRR in a couple years, so maybe I'll be able to put up with that now, i'll get around to listening to it again sometime.

When I saw Blacklisted in Long Island some kids started screaming life of agony so George started singing the intro to Underground and aside from me there was 1 other person who knew it.

young, loud, and andrew 08-06-2007 02:30 PM

the mongoloids are TERRIBLE.

everything that scott said is true.

hype band.

war hungry is good. at least their singer can sing.

young, loud, and andrew 08-06-2007 02:31 PM

also if you don't think is voice is forced you're deaf.

it sounds like a teenager trying to pull of paul bearer's voice. the part about sheer terror that is so amazing are paul bearer's vocals and his lyrics. mongoloids are just a cheap imitation.

Let's look at that band Soul Control for example. Great influences, but they are BORING. Every time I even think about putting on the demo I decide to just listen to Burn's first seven inch instead.

BuddyBigsby 08-06-2007 04:30 PM

Soul Control try WAY too hard

young, loud, and andrew 08-06-2007 04:40 PM
Soul Control try WAY too hard
most people will probably say: "but scott, they sound like burn! that means they are automatically awesome."

FALSE

i feel like when they write their music they say "hey, let's make this breakdown sound like the one in 'shall be judged'" or "hey, we could have a really cool 108 styled part here."

forced usually means that it is not naturally how you sound, that it is something you are going for, when the opposite here is true. that IS what he sounds like, and it is cleaaaan, etc. I will not budge on this, like them or not, that is a stupid argument to try to make.

lets all just talk about how CLIMATE OF FEAR is the album of the year.

we must not be hearing the same band. the singer sings from his throat, which is why he sounds like cookie monster. paul bearer sings from his stomach. his voice is incredible.

mongoloids = cheap imitation. when you were younger did you ever read that story "the emperor's new clothes"? that's what i think of when i think about the hype that surrounds this band.

chips88 08-07-2007 05:31 PM
How far is Denton from Austin?
3+ hours? I could be wrong though, but I thought it was 2.5 to dallas, and denton is 30 minutes north of there.

BuddyBigsby 08-07-2007 06:39 PM

Hey speaking of Texas, I'm going to be going through the panhandle area I think its called? The part way in the north. Is there still good Mexican food up there because I want to see what all this hype is about.

I doubt it, but who knows. that is the worst part of texas in my opinion, places like lubbock, abiline, amarillo, etc. middle of nowhere, nothing to do, might as well cede it to oklahoma

40 oz 2 freedom 08-07-2007 09:43 PM

Yeah Scott that Texas sucks.

And Shane, that sucks too.

Actually, we'll be on our way to Oklahoma when we go through there.
