the-UK-ska-scene 01-01-2006 06:00 PM

Heart skull thing. It's the only thing that'll fit on my finger. My dad'll go mad. Ha ha.

And I'm still in my pyjamas. Did everyone have a good time last night? I walked home at 4am in the pouring rain with a girl so drunk she couldn't stand up properly. Oh joy.

Lol.

Untitled 01-01-2006 06:08 PM

Arnt you a bit young lily?

I want the star sign tatooed on my inner wrist.

Ill admit that i wear the same cloths day in, sometimes in the holidays im to lazy to go to the wardrobe so ill pick yestodays tee-shirts and stuff up.

poprocks&coke 01-01-2006 06:09 PM

Yes, perhaps I am.

The only thing I'm worried about is that I change my mind all the time. I think I might draw it on everyday to see if I get bored of it.

Untitled 01-01-2006 06:17 PM

Yes they do.

they dont put the ink as deap into the skin, so when the layers of skin grow up, it grows out.

Bad Blood 01-01-2006 06:17 PM

Butler's nearly on 20k.

Ah no, you've been brainwashed too. I was talking to one of the many tattoo artists at the Mantra festival this year, and he was going mad about how many people go in thinking that it'll come off but they end up having to get them surgically removed.

Bah, i dont know, i want some done, but im scared.

the-UK-ska-scene 01-01-2006 06:31 PM

Ah no you guys, my mate has a 5 year tatt and it has definitely faded over the last couple years. The thing is though, people go into it thinking they won't be scarred, but it's still a needle screwing up your skin so even if the ink does completely fade (which it doesn't on a lot of complexions) you're still left with scarring to your skin.

Yeah, figures.

I want some tats, but i dont think ill get any anyime soon. I was gonna on my 18th, but you know.

the-UK-ska-scene 01-01-2006 06:36 PM

Yeah I wanted a tat on my 18th. My 2 best mates got tats the week before I turned 18, and I went with them, it was a v interesting experience. One got a Queens of the Stone Age logo, and one got a Batman character, hehe. I wanna get Walt Jabsco, the 2 tone ska man. I got it all figured out, I just haven't had the kind of money to get a tat since I turned 18! S'ok though, I got my whole life to get one. Don't need to break the bank to get it, haha.

Loserkid 01-01-2006 06:39 PM

I want the star wars rebel allience logo, because im an uber geek.

the-UK-ska-scene 01-01-2006 06:41 PM

Don't worry B, I have experience with uber geeks, my best mate getting a BATMAN tattoo and all

Hey guys I just found my deviantart again, with all.... 6 deviations in it, haha. I might start with that again.

Oooooh, phat, I wish I was an artiste, my mate designs artwork for bands and stuff (she's an amazing artist) it's just so cool.
For my degree I'm doing journalism with a social science, with a view to hopefully going onto music journalism after.

I do sort of work in Victory Records UK headquarters sometimes, see they take on interns and as I'm a street teamer they just get me to do intern-type jobs if I pop in there, making up boxes of promo stuff to be sent out to teamers/promos for gigs, etc etc just boring stuff. But it's really interesting to be inside the HQ and see what's going on. And of course the free stuff is cool :D

I'd say if you wanna get into stuff like record design, any kind of contact with labels and stuff would be good, but also contact with individual bands would be awesome. As for getting in with big labels, drop a line to their email, and say you'd be interested in teaming or whatever - I know the guy who co-ordinates Vicory got in by street teaming for them.

But yeah get in with little bands as well, see if you can get as many bands as possible to let you design their EP/album artwork for them, if you build up a portfolio that way it'll be an awesome way of getting in there.

Where are you planning to go to uni to do graphics?

Loserkid 01-01-2006 06:59 PM

Well, im doing an art foundation course at Manchester Met, because i have to live at home as i dont get a grant.

MMU is one of the best for graphics apparently. If not there, then maybe York, and ive been considoring somewhere like Goldsmiths in london. I never realy used to like london, but i went recently, and i miss the place now.

But Im deadly serious about this. All my work so far has been music based, my first project it was all sex pistols based, then the second was some comicy guy, i forget his name, the 3rd i did a ska two tonne-esk piece of work. My current project is im desiging a alkaline trio cd cover, tee-shirts, posters, etc. Its great, i have a pic of part of it ill get it.

Haha, I just remembered another guy I know with a Batman tatt actually.

My best mate has this on the outside of his lower leg
and the other guy I know (he hangs around in a comic store that's where we met him, surprise surprise lol) has this just below his elbow, on the squishy inside of his arm

Nerds mate.

Ah yeah awesome, Goldsmiths is such a respected place, I know some people who go there. A few of my college mates are doing a foundation year back home, they have more lectures than me but they have such an awesome time. By the sound of it, it's like a halfway point between uni and college, cus they're hanging round with the same people and living at home, but they're joining all the uni societies and stuff. Awesome

ps I'm trying to be cool like you, using my other username :D
