No it's not.

It originated in Europe as whatever the word is that translated into All Saint's Day, which was a sort of modification of a pagan holiday in hopes to decrease the presence of pagans and maybe convert some, even though by then their efforts were becoming less.

There was a holiday a day later the deceased within the past year, saint or not.

It didn't really experience a rebirth until the 1900s, which is pretty much what it is now.
