sup dudes

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 06:46 PM

suppy'sup.

watching futurama, melting down in my blastfurnace I call "bedroom"

Haz 07-04-2012 06:49 PM

was watching that episode where Bender is Santa just last night. kind of mediocre, lots of cool eps though

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 06:52 PM

the eps generally have an over-arching theme, that much I enjoy...most of the humor though is self-referential....like everything is a gimmick and only time-tested knowledge or perspective stands the light of adversity. Good show though, it is guilt free and yet somehow un-affecting

Haz 07-04-2012 07:02 PM

yeah as a sci-fi geek I love it

Juddybear 07-04-2012 07:33 PM

futurama has some p hilarious eps

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 07:39 PM

Im getting into later seasons I guess now....I just watched the one where fry apparently gets stung by a bee while trying to save leela during a delivery. He basically dies and Leela has to deal with his passing...I appreciated the imagery and delivery but was constantly wondering what movie or book they lifted the premise from.

blockhead 07-04-2012 07:50 PM

Bought a bunch of stuff today. Some manga, a dreamcast memory card and a usb drive so i can watch all movies/series I have on my computer on my PS3.

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 07:52 PM

I'll have to look into that. I had a fuckton of anime and films on my externalhd before I dropped it. Time to start collecting again.

Haz 07-04-2012 07:57 PM

might replay Lufia 2

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 07:59 PM

thought this was pretty great

SugarCoatedSour 07-04-2012 08:05 PM

likewise. I might get a rom of Mother for nes, so I get some backstory to the wackiness that takes place.

not surprising....wonder if the japanese cartridge has it or if its just America's gaywad security/consumer net.

blockhead 07-04-2012 08:13 PM

Earthbound is a great game but the fighting mechanics are pretty archaic. It's still worth playing though.

Juddybear 07-04-2012 08:15 PM

on ep 4 of death note

blockhead 07-04-2012 08:19 PM

I'm on chapter 22. Just past the part where L tells Light that he's L. They just played the tennis match.

yeah kinda why i don't dig the old Dragon Quest/Warrior games too much

Dragon Quest VIII is probably the most fun RPG i've played in a while though

The battle system is not active time battle like a lot of newer games, you have to select all the attacks at once before any of them play out. The one unique thing about the system is the HP is on a rolling counter. So if you take a fatal hit you can still heal yourself if you're fast and the counter doesn't make it to 0.

It really is an excellent game, the story and atmosphere make up for the dated battle mechanics.

I've only played Dragonquest VIII and I didn't get that into it but I only played it for about 5 hours.

Juddybear 07-04-2012 08:32 PM

fav ps2 rpg is ffx tbh

blockhead 07-04-2012 08:34 PM

i want to check out some of the persona series.

Justin what's happening in Death Note in ep 4?

Juddybear 07-04-2012 08:35 PM

i'm on ep 5 now but light was being followed and then that stuff on the bus happened

now he's confronting the dude that was following him

Idnuf 07-04-2012 08:41 PM

tbh I've never liked active time combat systems, though of course I've had to overcome that to play a lot of the best RPGs

for my money, (as much as people hate on the game for other reasons) Final Fantasy X had the perfect combat system.

edit: just realized juddybear said something about ffx, hell yeah man people hate that game for the dumbest reason. it's like okay let me ignore the amazing music and combat system and bitch about voice acting

Juddybear 07-04-2012 08:43 PM

yeah for real, i mean the voice acting has a couple awkward parts but it's p damn good overall

and the music and combat system were def great, graphics too, first ps2 i ever got and it p much blew my mind

Idnuf 07-04-2012 08:46 PM

yeah lol i remember when i first played it i thought "this is the end. graphics will never get better than this, they've reached life-like realism". now tidus's face looks like it was plastered on, it's like a better version of the faces from wrestling games on the n64 (i rented no mercy so many times back in the day, the people at blockbuster literally thought i stole the game)

BethanyLizard 07-04-2012 09:21 PM

video games and anime for 5 pages

adbforever 07-04-2012 09:28 PM
