I know what you're saying but they're still death metal. Let the idiots talk their ****, they're so wrong that it's usually worth the lols anyways.

i am the robots 11-16-2007 12:23 AM

Indeed.

Well they are deathcore are they not? Death metal infused with the hardcore tendency for breakdowns?

Not that death metal can't have breakdowns, but Benighted's breakdowns for example are much different and more "death metally".

Anyway I checked out Bring Me The Horizon, their breakdowns are kind of boring but I like the vocals.

Tyler 11-16-2007 11:23 AM

I'd say the hardcore comes more from the build-ups and pacing. The somewhat gang-y vocals and such.

BrokenChains 11-16-2007 11:27 AM

I'm now getting into As I Lay Dying I must say.

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 11:44 AM

I only have heard Frail Words Collapse. It has a few stupidly annoying moments, but it's got its good moments too.

publicastration 11-16-2007 11:45 AM

Shadows Are Security isn't bad. It's rather generic I suppose though.

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 11:46 AM

I probably wouldn't mind it. Usually when someone bitches about something being "generic", it's actually pretty good...just not original.

Not saying you're bitching; just making a general reference.

jrowa001 11-16-2007 11:46 AM

ive always been a fan os AILD. i do admit they arent amazing, but i just have a taste for them.
on another note, i finally got my hands on the new Himsa album, not too bad. it's better than Hail Horror

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 11:48 AM

Never bothered to check out Himsa, despite thier popularity. What are they like?

botb 11-16-2007 11:48 AM

AILD is pretty good, though not the best in the genre. I'm more of a sucker for just straight brutality and heaviness than anything else. AILD writes some great stuff and then other times just falls short.

Well that's what I mean. It's very formulaic, but it does have some good hooks.

i am the robots 11-16-2007 12:34 PM

As I Lay Dying's newest album is their best one.
Anyway I checked out Bring Me The Horizon, their breakdowns are kind of boring but I like the vocals.
Yeah, Oli Syke's has a hell of a voice.

they are sort of like Heaven Shall Burn, but with a more hardcore style. on their new album, they decided to add solos. i guess you can say they are a mix of Unearth and Heaven Shall Burn but not as good as the two

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 12:46 PM

Oh. I'll put checking them out on the back burner. I love HSB too much to hear their style butchered right now.

i am the robots 11-16-2007 12:46 PM

Himsa and Heaven Shall Burn both blow son.

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 12:47 PM

Shut up mappy, HSB kill.

Tyler 11-16-2007 12:47 PM

Heaven Shall Burn = one of the blandest bands I've ever heard. I'm rarely as indifferent as I was when I heard their last album.

i am the robots 11-16-2007 12:47 PM

Heaven Shall Burn kills people WITH THEIR BLANDNESS

Invicta_Veritas 11-16-2007 12:48 PM

Crackheads.

They would be better if they played solos though.

Although I haven't heard all of Deaf to Our Prayers, so they might.

RetiredAt21 11-16-2007 05:17 PM

As I Lay Dying is one of the most generic bands ever, they are right up there with August Burns Red.

botb 11-16-2007 05:32 PM

August Burns Red in my opinion is one of the most talented bands in the genre. They write in abstract numbers of 5 and 6 in their riffs instead of 4. That's why the riffs sound very random at times but there actually is a method to the madness. And you're dumb if you think their drummer isn't good.

Tyler 11-16-2007 05:33 PM

I think their music isn't good. Plenty of talented instrumentalists and musicians are in shitty as **** bands.

botb 11-16-2007 05:35 PM

Hey, to each his own. Personally their my favorite metalcore outfit out there right now.

so unique i agree

botb 11-16-2007 05:44 PM
so unique i agree
I'm assuming that's sarcasm. So lemme put it this way. It's putting a completely different spin on a very played-out genre thats slowly going down the tubes. While some people hate these guys I love 'em. And if you're a drummer then I'd like you see to try to keep up with this guys. He's phenomenal.

i am the robots 11-16-2007 05:46 PM

I like AILD and ABR, but yeah, extremely generic and nowhere near the most talented at anything.
