Theyll probably play Money and Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. There biggest hits.
btw I just got Wish You Were Here album, can anyone tell me who sings on what?
get the wall and dont let your curiosity drive you to buy that movie thing...listen to the album twice..every song and really focus it's great...the movie will ruin most peoples imaginations of the songs themes...it isnt very good... |
I read the news today oh boy, I can't belive it. I don't think this will mean a new tour though, Gilmour said in the past he would reunite for another benifit concert, whitch this is so unfortunetly I doubt another tour will happen.
123. but there´s always hope, right? :thumb: |
That seems really obvious now that you've said it, but for the longest time I couldn't figure out who it was on Welcome to the Machine. Funny that.
It's funny...being relatively new,i actually got into pink floyd in around 98.before i knew who was who,i looked at everyones pic and was able to somehow pick out the voice...i mean come on...can you imagine gilmour singing the thin ice...id laugh my *** off if he had rodgers voice...but its ok for rodger to have vocals like that because its simply him...and also...dave even looks like hed have smoother vocals..that guru. |
Syd barrets terrible...but thats what happens when everyone listening to your musics spaced out too(not that im saying floyd fans are..i mean i never was).but pink floyd wasnt pink floyd until gilmour and waters joined....think of it...each could write great songs...and to boot they made an orchestra out of themselves.
Water's was always in the band, and Syd Barret was actually a very good songwriter/guitarist. Maybe you didn't like his style, but that doesn't mean he's terrible. PS: Stop having a conversation with yourself, just make one big post. |
Bleh, it is good that Gilmour likes to give to charity, and wants to help the poverty stricken. But I find it a bit annoying how he is always jumping down people's throats for not giving enough to charity and whatnot.(For example, Paul Mcartney)
...
stfu I am happy to hear that PF will have a 20 minute set. It is funny that even that length of time isnt enough to play Echoes though. |
The same thing happened to Cream, and look what they did.
What did they do? |

he does give tonnes though. like, his house.
I am happy to hear that PF will have a 20 minute set. Songs they wrote otgether. |
This site is pretty helpful for understanding Gilmour's tone, thought I'd share:
What did they do?
Reunited and played again this year, during the month of May. Yeah, they did various concerts, very big deal in the music industry, I've heard. Who would've thought that Cream would made such an impact, eh? Anyways, isnt' it funny that I posted the info on Pink Floyd being asked to play on Live Aid 2 and suddenly there was a confirmation? Oh, and Welcome To The Machine its actually sung by Roger and David. Roger is the first voice, and if you listen closely, you'll listen to a second voice, which is Dave. In an interview, Dave confessed that at one point his voice couldn't reach the note so he had to sing it faster and then it was slowed down so that it would match. |
Seven posts in a row! Holy crap!
Just a friendly recommendation. Tone it down a bit, try typing with proper grammar and structure, and you'll find that people are a lot more receptive to your ideas. |
waters sings on have a cigar...oh yeah!!
Are you dumb? Have you read the thread before you started thinking you were a Floyd guru? |
Are you dumb? Have you read the thread before you started thinking you were a Floyd guru?
Well he did make 7 posts in a row or something. |
Just ignore him until he starts being intelligent.
Any ideas for the cover song yet? Anyone have any songs they want to do? |
I read in The Times today that they've got 20 minutes, and it's being reported that they're rehearsing four songs, three of which are on DSOTM. Presumably that mans Time, Money, and something else....personally I think the report's probably wrong and they'll do Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here in addition to those 2.
/still hopeful of getting tickets.
I've heard the exact same. But all the song reports are all just rumours, even though they are probably true. I hope they play Us & Them the most, I'm just in love with that song lately. Well not the most, but the most out of the ones they might choose. Hope you get tickets too! I was going to enter the lottery, but slim chances, and I can't afford to get over there anyway. Good luck |
I predict WYWH, Comfortably Numb, Money and... Eclipse, simply because any other song will probably go over 20 minutes. :)

/jealous of everyone who gets to go
the "btw, which one's pink line?" has deeper relevance- Pink Floyd had no distinct frontman, something many record companies and the press didn't like or understand. 2/4 of them sang, and no-one could really say that either dave or roger was really a frontman.
yeah... i know its from a few pages back, but when they were asked the question Syd was difinitively the lead as the Vocalist, lead guitar, songwriter. Edit: Rick sang quite a lot. He did the high harmonies (listen to Us and them or Echoes) and for the concert, if they are doing DSOTM, it would probably be Us and Them more than anything else. Dear god I hope the do a tour and come to canada even though: 1) Never gonna happen. No way in hell 2)It would probably be in Montreal, although I suppose I could get there from toronto 3) It would sell out in 30 seconds flat. Edit 2: For the cover song, we could do something simple like another brick pt. 2 (and I know the solo... go me... even though it is pretty simple)... oohh... or Mother. that would be awesome, and I also know the solo, even though it doesn't say anything for my ability as it is ++simple |
The Live 8 concert is coming out on DVD right?
I'm so buying it soley for the Floyd show. Page 5? Man. |

Thanks for posting that! :thumb:
don't fall into the trap of copying his tone unless your in a cover band. you can't become yourself as a guitarist if you copy tone. |
Waters did sing the song live though :eng101:
Yeah, but he's talking about the studio version. |
Oh, you got the ticket(s) Med? Congrats, you bastard.
|
Wow, have I not mentioned ITT that I'm going to Live 8 as well? It seems not...anyway, I am. Basically. London's got a very good lineup (far better than anywhere else) with Muse, Coldplay, U2, The Cure, and others...but yeah, Pink Floyd. I feel so unbelievably happy that I'm actually going to get to see them live, even if it is only for 20 minutes or so.
see you there :) well, i probably won't, but i will be there. |
Wow I can't believe 2 people from here got tickets :amaze:
That's pretty crazy, have fun :thumb:. Anyway, my 3 favorite Floyd songs would be, CN, WYWH, and Time. I love them all though. |
So is it true pink floyd will be touring with their classic lineup after they do the live 8 concert?
|
No... I haven't heard anything official. Only dumbass noobs on here.
