You need to get your hands on Salival, Third Eye and Push!t are better on that than the studio versions, IMO.
Eh, I like the studio version of Pushit much better than the live one, and both Third Eyes are great.

Podge 04-03-2005 03:23 PM

can anyone put up part 2 of the concert on yousendit by anychance? i stupidly didnt save it when i downloaded it last night and now im depressed, anyway if anyone can send it it would be very much appreciated

Moses 04-03-2005 03:25 PM

Holy crap Third Eye live..... I can just imagine the eargasm

yeah I was immediatly hooked on Tool. I've never bought four cds by one band in a row in less then 2 months.

I think the same thing might happen with Opeth soon.

Darkness 04-03-2005 06:54 PM

^Third eye live is awesome... it was played on the Oklahoma show and was very well done. And Opeth kicks ***... go buy all of there cds in less then 2 months aswell...
Just wondering does anyone know if adam has played with any other bands, I know the rest of the members have and I was just wondering has adam?
He has toured and played with Melvins on the last few albums. He does some awesome work on the latest, Pigs of the Roman Empire.

SeAmoNKeY 04-03-2005 09:26 PM

I don't believe this...Maynard?....Jesus? This can't be true. But the webmaster already said it wasn't a prank. Does anyone know anything more?

Kage 04-03-2005 09:30 PM
I think Pushit is way better live than studio. Maynard's voice always sounds better live, IMO.
I thought the live version was too pretentious and dragged on too long, but I'll have to listen to it more to get into it, maybe.

SeAmoNKeY 04-03-2005 09:32 PM
For the last time, dude. IT'S NOT TRUE. It WAS a prank. If it was true, don't you think everybody in this thread would be freaking out?
sorry man, ive been without net access for a close to a week and this stuff all hit me at once. I was jsut sifting through all the posts up to this point.

I have been into Opeth for a while but havent had any money :upset:
what I did have was spent on Tool.

One band at a time.
It is pricey. The DVD is something like 150, not sure about VHS. I've been watching eBay auctions for Salival myself....
I think most of us who don't own it already are always on the lookout. Anyway, how often, if ever, do mint condition copies of Salival come up on eBay. I've seen mint VHS versions, but I already know I want the DVD. If anyones seen any around, let me know, I'm after one.

And yes, I know that it will cost far more than an opened copy, I am willing to pay the extra.

from their site:

You know the old saying, “no news is good news”, well… that was the case as far as the recording process was going for the new Tool CD, but now things may have changed a bit. Yesterday, when I went to the studio to give Maynard a bottle of wine (a 1992 Maya) for winning the bet that I had with him involving his new film “Sleeping Dogs Lie” (I lost by default, not being able to attend the Sedona screening), not only wasn’t Maynard there, but, in what seems to be a case of enantiodromia (something becoming its opposite) if ever there was one (!), I was told the reason why he wasn’t there. I wish this post was dated April 1, but, unfortunately, it isn’t. Like a doctor giving a patient a straight, honest answer to a medical diagnosis, without sugar-coating the truth, here’s exactly what I was told: “Maynard has found Jesus.” This will come as a complete shock to most (but not all) of you, as it did to me. In fact, it just seemed like another MJK prank until I talked to the one person who I believe would know if all this was legit or not. After nearly an hour on the phone with this person, the answer I received was that Maynard has indeed “found Jesus” and that, for this reason, he’s abandoned the project for the time being, if not entirely. I don’t know what the f**k is in the water these days, but hopefully a black jelly belly will turn up in that golden bowl… that’s all I can think to say at this point. Before leaving the studio, I watched as Danny made arrangements to go play some golf, while Adam and Justin kept working on a particular song. So, in case you missed it (those who don’t read the whole post), here’s today's news: Maynard has found Jesus…

anyone know anything about this?

Huber 04-04-2005 12:49 AM

April Fools!

Anarchy_In_Mexico 04-04-2005 12:56 AM
I would upload it (Pt. 1) but I tried like 10 times and it kept going "cannot find server"... If you guys have msn I'd be happy to send it to you through that.
i have msn, i would give you any video that you want if you pass me the first part, my msn is friikmudo@hotmail.com

dUSK 04-04-2005 02:53 AM

Ok people.

It is now Monday the 4th of April. Get over the Maynard has found Jesus thing.

clearvision 04-04-2005 06:06 AM

Erm excuse me, Blair's post is dated 31st of may is it not? And Kabir's site still has the message up...last year he said the day after that it was an april fool. I think we should be looking at this as an excuse for the album getting delayed?

LOL@Kage... I was gonna rant about how the salival version is dragged on for too long and the ending of the song (the best part 'if you say i might fade like a sigh if i stay...it will end no other way') sounds much better on Aenima. BUt i didn't think anyone agreed.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-04-2005 06:14 AM

I still prefer Pu5hit live. Mainly just for the changed intro, it just gives it that extra dynamic feel.

But everytime I say that, JoZ comes along and nerfs me with Third Eye :upset:

Edit: And tags arent working for me all of a sudden..

jensmatty 04-04-2005 06:21 AM

The start of the live version of pu**** is better, the end of the CD version is better. Triad live is just orgasmic :) that's my input for the day.

joas 04-04-2005 06:26 AM

I agree on the Triad comment; I don't know why, but for me it almost soothes me if I'm having a rough day if I just sit and listen to it. Maybe I'm thinking about it too hard, but it just seems to really calm me down and almost focus me as well.

misunderstood 04-04-2005 11:41 AM

Ok, i'm going to get off topic a bit but i just saw this link on another message board. It's a short clip of an APC performance where they're playing "The Noose". Quick question: What is Maynard playing? Looks like a guitar but then it looks a bit odd.

and then there are these two other links in case anyone wants to see them:

jamesclelland 04-04-2005 03:22 PM

the guitar, in amotion he credited to playing guitar. in triad he plays bass, in 4 Degrees he plays sitar.

any way washingtonians (sp?) el corazon 4/10 $7.00 a tool cover show, stop by i will playing guitar for "heyoka".

clearvision 04-04-2005 03:38 PM

I'm not sure about the bass in triad. I think he played guitar for triad reflection and disposition on the oklahoma show, no? there is only one bass on disposition and justin was playing that...

Nerf'd!

Third Eye really is far more orgasmic than Pushit. I've tried listening to Pushit more than once, even the live version on Salival...but nothing captures me quite like Third Eye
I'm not sure about the bass in triad. I think he played guitar for triad reflection and disposition on the oklahoma show, no? there is only one bass on disposition and justin was playing that...
There are several tabs that attribute a second bassline to Maynard in Triad, most notably the one off Tooltabs.net...

I honestly do not hear any second bassline in the song at all. Justin's bass is hard enough to hear in most songs, let alone trying to hear a phantom second bassline done by Maynard, in a song with so much distortion from Adam it really isn't funny.

I've never heard of him playing guitar either, not for Disposition or Reflection...maybe he did some stuff with APC, but last I knew, the only thing Maynard did with Tool was sing (even if it was with a megaphone on Eulogy)

Those were pretty cool. I didn't know Jeordie did the backing vocals on some songs, like in the Noose.
And I really regret the fact that I never got to see them live, ESPECIALLY when they were touring with NIN!

He has played guitar with the band on more than one occasion and i thought he played guitar on triad not bass??

clearvision 04-04-2005 03:48 PM

 Are you a bassist? and agree with me that it's hard to appreciate justin in the band...

He uses some kind of megaphone in third eye to get some effects, i'm sure of it, i meant to ask you people the other night but fell asleep :(

The only bits of third eye i like are the 'So good to see you...' part, adams solos and the 'you opened my eyes' part. Pu**** has more to offer.

Rothmans 04-04-2005 03:50 PM

Yeah he does use some effects on other he just hits his throat live on that one i think he is using the same mic he was using for stinkfist on the oklahoma vid

The JoZ 04-04-2005 04:03 PM
He has played guitar with the band on more than one occasion and i thought he played guitar on triad not bass??
I have only seen tabs talking of an extra bassline, not guitar.
Are you a bassist? and agree with me that it's hard to appreciate justin in the band...
No, it's hard to hear him. Once you know what he's doing, it's very easy to appreciate him.
He uses some kind of megaphone in third eye to get some effects, i'm sure of it, i meant to ask you people the other night but fell asleep
I know nothing of him using a megaphone in Third Eye. I know for a fact he uses it in Eulogy though, as was confirmed by Danny himself.

How you could not like the main verse section is beyond me

Huber 04-04-2005 04:05 PM

Justin's bass work isn't hard for me to recognize at all. I don't see how you can't hear it.

Wow, only liking certain sections of Third Eye? That song is insane, each part contributes a certain thing to the song as a whole, and it is one of the best Tool has written. The way that song cycles through so many different sonic and textural soundscapes, moods, and tension is unmatched in some single albums, much less one song.
